However, every now and then you come across a business that truly believes in the motto "the customer comes first". This has been my experience with Briggs Landscaping as they have consistently exceeded my loftiest expectations. Briggs did an extensive overhaul of our front yard. The work involved clearing and grading the yard, hauling, dumping and spreading loam, building a flower bed and laying sod. The quote they provided was the best of three estimates provided. Due to an unbelievably wet and cold April, they got behind in their schedule, however Diane (Office Manager) constantly communicated with me on a weekly basis. She was absolutely fantastic. During the week leading up to the work, she provided me perfect details which allowed proper coordination with my irrigation guy. When the work started, the team was prompt, pleasant and professional; great guys! However, the work hit a major snag when they discovered a major root system under a large, grounded, pine tree stump...they were forced to bring in more heavy equipment and the two day job turned into a much larger project to get rid of the huge roots. They constantly communicated the game plan and in the end, the yard and flower beds looked so beautiful. We got the invoice today and even though they probably spent a dozen or more man hours removing the huge pine roots, they honored their cost listed in their original estimate! I will never use another landscape company other than Briggs! They do all the thoughtful touches that make them great. They carefully removed and saves all perennials for us to use elsewhere, they transplanted an Azalea bush...they even put loam and grass seed around some bare spots in the backyard! The perfect landscape company...scratch that...the perfect company!!! Thank you Briggs...clearly customer service is alive and well with you. You have earned me as a faithful customer for life!

Complete Waste of Money - All Three Projects Had to Be Fully Redone…read more I'm writing this review to help other homeowners avoid the significant time and money I wasted, as well as the frustration I experienced with Travers Construction. After my father passed away over three years ago, I hired them for a basement water penetration project because he had trusted and used them for years. I assumed I could trust them too. That project was the beginning of the end. It was clear that water was coming up through the foundation at the front of the property... they insisted that digging a trench about 15 feet from the house and filling it with stone was what needed to be done to fix the issue. I asked them whether this would just result in groundwater building up against the foundation as the path of least resistance, but they insisted that wasn't true -- and that is exactly what happened. At the time I didn't have experience with these types of repairs, so I trusted their recommendation. They backfilled the trench with stone right up to grade and laid the grass directly on top of the stone with no dirt or topsoil. The grass died because it had nothing to root into. After the very next rain we had more water in the basement than ever before. When the problem persisted and worsened, they washed their hands of it and left. Their so-called repair made the situation worse and was a complete waste of money. Another contractor had to remove all of their work and redo the entire project properly. After this experience I was smart enough not to use them again. Only then did I look back at the earlier projects they had done for my father and realize every single one of them was also complete trash that ultimately had to be removed and redone by another contractor. French drain project (~3 years ago, around the time of my father's passing): The quality of work was awful. No filter fabric was added to the drain and the perforated pipe wasn't even connected. The system was failing less than two years later. It will need to be completely redone in the next few years. It was a complete waste of money. Patio / backyard foundation project (~14 years ago): They were hired to eliminate water penetration at the rear foundation of the house. They backfilled with pure clay. The project failed and water intrusion through the foundation started less than 10 years later. The patio had to be removed and the entire project had to be completely redone by another contractor last year. Their work not only failed to solve the water problem -- it was a complete waste of money. In all three projects Travers Construction delivered substandard work using improper materials and techniques. Every job failed, required full removal of their installation, and had to be completely redone from scratch by a different contractor at significant additional cost. They appear to prioritize quick jobs and collecting payment over quality or lasting results, leaving homeowners to pay twice (or more) to fix the problems they created. If you are considering Travers Construction, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I trusted them when I moved to the area because my father had used them in the past -- and it cost my family substantial time, money, and repeated frustration. Learn from my experience and hire someone else.

Shawn got me scheduled quickly and his guys were pros. If you ever wonder why tree removal is not cheap, the a look at the equipment needed. He had a fleet of trucks. He was the most fair and reasonable in his estimates. He blew out a $1k chainsaw on the project. Came back as promised. I would not hesitate to call Shawn for a estimate. I know we will be using his service again to clear property in stages as well as when Mother Nature decides for us. Hard to get contractors on the Cape and glad to have done business with Shawn.
