I discovered that I was overcharged for three plants that were marked $7.99 and I was charged $9.99 instead. Went back with my receipts and showed the error. The gal said, oh A**** does a good job, just a mistake. She completely blew it off. I have spent hundreds of dollars here over the years and wonder how much I was overcharged and didn't notice. Make sure you keep track of what they ring up. If one of their "good" employees doesn't know the difference between a perennial and an herb, what are the others charging you for? read more

I've heard about this place for long time, but being an hour away I never made it here until this spring... I've been missing out! Super healthy houseplants, shrubs, flowers, etc., and any supply you can think of. Previous negative reviews complain about rude customer service, but I've experienced just the opposite every time I've been. Selection is hit and miss and often with such a small operation one or two landscape designers wipe out inventory. While many workers in yard very few are customer focus and check out is long and disorganized with so many part time employees that are just not service oriented and there for social aspect of working. Just had another experience where they left part of my cart on their scale. Urghh just wish staff could focus on their task. read more

Lots of lively plants and shrubs but BE CAREFUL at checkout! An inattentive checkout person over charged us by $50 with incorrect prices and amounts. I have been eyeing some large planters at Hyannis Country Garden for several weeks. Every time I have been there they have a price tag of $199. Today I finally decided to make the purchase and get 2 pots. They both had price tags of $199. When Chris went to check me out he said they were $349 each He said someone had mis-priced them and he could not sell them to me for $199. Over the years I have worked in many retail stores. If an item has been mispriced, as these were, the store would honor the price the item was tagged. That kind of good customer service is what gets a business repeat customers. So because of this interaction I will not be shopping at Hyannis Country Garden anymore. It's unfortunate because since I have a newly built home with a blank slate for landscaping, the amount I would have been spending far exceeds the difference between the amount the pots were priced at and what he wanted to charge me. read more

I went to Country Garden today to look for an African Violet . I walked into houseplant area . One staff , no customers . Not any kind of acknowledgment . I found violets on a cart , I asked if they just came in ? No answer , I picked one up , no price . I asked how much they were , she said $4.99 . I said " will they ring up at the registar with no price tag . She no . Do you want one ....begrudgingly priced it after I said yes . When I mentioned at the register considering there was no other customer in the store I had been treated rather rudely . She laughed . On the way out I met a woman going in and I said I hope they treat you better than they did me . I mentioned the rudeness of the girl in the greenhouse and she said she is always like that . She had been in there one day when an elderly gentleman asked her opinion and she said "How would I know ?" . read more

A nice garden center with TONS of decorative items. I think there are more accessories than actual plants and flowers. In the summer they also have various koi, goldfish and other types of fish. I like the resident giant koi on site, they are massive, slimy and always appear to be hungry. The prices are a bit on the high side but some items I have not seen at any other garden center. I love this place! Not only do they have a HUGE amount of gardening paraphernalia (pots, garden ornaments, bird baths/statues, soil amendments, etc.), but their selection of plants is also very good. And their pricing is very acceptable, especially when they have their sales. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help or answer questions. I would've given it five stars based on what they offer, however I had a a fairly brusque interaction with one of the employees. I had selected a plant that I thought was available for purchase because there was no indication otherwise and I would was rather rudely told to put it back. Will not be returning, there are plenty of other garden stores around that value my business and treat their costumers with common courtesy as should be expected in the retail world. read more

Country Garden used to be a prime example of a great garden center. Sadly, it has really gone downhill over the years. In the past the staff was universally helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Now the most basic question can be met with a blank stare, or a long "ummmmmm....". It often feels as if you are interrupting their work with the pesky business of wanting to spend your money in their store. This used to be a place for really interesting varieties - now the selection is more run of the mill. Many of the potted plants are bone dry. The checkout area is chaotic with frequent delays due to unpriced items. It used to be a pleasure and an education to shop here; now it is more often a disappointment and a chore. read more

So I had an issue today with koi products when I stopped by to purchase some food. one of the owners (Susan) was less than polite when I had questions. I guess this is the last trip I'll be making to the store, as they don't seem concerned with customer retention or relations. I've lived on the cape for over 50 years. I've always loved going to this place because of the merchandise. Although, the other day I was in there and was cashing out. The cashier, who was very nice had to call the owner for an exchange approval. He was so rude, nasty and extremely unprofessional. He should retire and allow someone else to take over. He has forgotten the most important part of retail.. CUSTOMER SERVICE and respect! I use to own my a pet shop and would NEVER think of handling the situation with a customer the way he did. I was talking to a friend who also had been treated horribly as well over a small Christmas tree. What are the chances. If you still want to shop there because of the cashiers and product and you see the owner, tall, Grey hair and in his 70s run the other way, unless you want to be mistreated! read more

This is a wonderful garden store full of everything you need and don't need but have to have it is my go to garden store on the cape - I always leave with something. there is a woman who works in the green house named Lilly she is so helpful and has repotted and brought back to life almost all my house plants she has instilled just about all of my plant knowledge -I would lean to say she is an orchid expert - as she has saved some orchids of mine that I thought were goners for sure it is a pleasure just to speak to her - and they will "baby sit" your plants if you're going to be away.
