I have been boxing the last decade, so obviously I had to see the OG ring from Madison square garden. It's a small museum that you'll go through quickly, but man is it cool to see.

I know there will be a lot of people who would appreciate the museum, and since I was in the area at the time, I figure - why not visit? Yes, it's definitely the Int'l Boxing Hall of Fame and I'm surprised they don't have (+ Museum) attached at the end! It is actually two parts: one big building which has the gift shop and the old Madison Square Garden boxing rink (which was donated to the place in 2000s). The smaller building houses three rooms, one mostly focused on the Hall of Fame inductees, plus some cool, very retro memorabilia such as old books from the 19th century about boxing. It's interesting to know that boxing has been around for centuries and somehow someone was taking notes and records on who were the greats during the older times. I've heard of all the boxers that everyone else has heard of, like Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield and a couple others. Of course, they're all enshrined. Even Sylvester Stallone, who wasn't really a pro boxer - just helped popularize it - is in the Hall of Fame! The other two rooms have memorabilia dating back to at least 1900. Lots of cool retro posters, bronze fists that are meant to look like other boxers, etc. A different but great experience, regardless of how much you care about boxing. Apparently the greats think it's a big deal...Tyson and Stallone have both been here!

This spot has been on my radar for a while and I finally decided to make the drive. The farm was…read moresmall. There's no real parking lot, just a few spots out front. I came for the goat yoga, and by the time I got there most of the group was already there so I had to park a bit down the road on a field. The farm itself is very peaceful, with ponies and donkeys, ducks quacking and swimming in an enclosure, shy alpacas. The setup inside the goat pen is practical, as they have a platform where you can put your stuff so that the goats don't chew it. Keep in mind, the goats WILL interact with you and chew your stuff. It was way messier and chaotic than I'd expected, and hard to fully do the yoga. The baby goats were so cute and friendly (overly friendly, lol) and it was nice petting them and snuggling them, but truth be told I probably wouldn't do the yoga portion again and would just visit a farm to pet baby goats separately. Not gonna lie, I'm a little traumatized by how wild and messy this experience was- you have to be a certain kind of person to enjoy goat yoga, I think, and I learned I'm not it. Wouldn't dissuade others from trying it, just have proper expectations before you do! The farm itself is lovely, but it may be better to just visit the animals or do one of the more sedate experiences. I didn't wind up doing the u-pick lavender, though I did take a quick stroll through the fields. One small bunch (about a handful) is $10, which seems fairly standard for most lavender farms in the area. Pretty views. The owners seemed super nice.

This was close and convenient for us and we were wanting a Halloween activity to do so checked it…read moreout. I had read an article where this was in the top ten haunts in NY. I would definitely not say this is in the top ten of haunted attractions but really was nice for being close to home. They had two different themed haunts. You could buy a single ticket for $20 or both haunts for $30. Haunts were primarily actor based and lacked sophisticated props but still could elicit a scream or two. Haunt is indoors which is nice. After going out of state to more elaborate haunts with the same ticket price this seemed a bit high for what it was. Parking was very unorganized no handicapped parking but than there were a lot of health limits to this haunt so maybe not really appropriate for handicapped guests. For those sensitive to strobe lights this is not an activity for you. Best actor was at the ticket booth dressed as the clown from "It". If you are looking fir a Halloween activity this is a fun activity to do. Looked like they had a snack bar but when we were there no one was manning the snack bar. Open Friday through Sunday from 7pm to 10pm. You can buy tickets online or in person. No photos as photos are not permitted

The only issue we had was the seats are a bit tight so you are forced to be cozy with those sitting next to you. We enjoyed a local pro hockey game, Utica Comets vs Providence Bruins. Both teams are feeders for their NHL affiliates. The arena is located downtown within easy walking distance from many quality hotels, restaurants, and bars.

It's small, 4,000 or so seats, so no matter where you sit, you got a great view of the action on the ice. It's loud, the fans in utica know their hockey and support their teams. It makes for great show. The Auds in the process of a much needed face lift, so it looked a lot nicer then when I saw the Prowlers play here. The negatives are parking, gotta get there a bit early, there is really only one lot this season, but I think that's supposed to change next year. But it was $5 to park, beats the $25 I paid in Philly for the flyers. Also if you get there early enough there is plenty of free parking on street, if you don't mind the walk. The concourse is a bit cramped, but manageable. Overall a great place to see minor league hockey or UC play.
