He pointed me towards a local organization that did adult diagnosis, but he also encouraged me to navigate Kaiser Permanente's process since that was my health insurance provider. I successfully navigated Kaiser's process which is terrible if you're neurodivergent, but ultimately their Psychiatric team diagnosed me with ASD. I walked into Wellness Within three years ago and began the journey of acceptance and care that is offered through a variety of classes. All of the teachers have specific training working with cancer patients. I met other people going through the same struggles. I am so thankful to be able to participate in the classes of my choice...and they never ask for money. The environment is warm and caring. The do psych testing when needed and also have a psychiatrist on site. They came to my house for both my older kids for CBT and they are still doing wonderfully after graduating their programs. I have volunteered at local food banks since I was a kid and always enjoy giving back to my community. This one in particular really surprised me because it is ran so smoothly and is organized quite well. We served 451 families today and they mentioned sometimes it is upwards of 600. There was such an amazing spread of organic and natural foods along with some easy to make food that kiddos would enjoy. Something for everyone. Life can change in the blink of an eye and food insecurity affects more people than you can imagine. I appreciate that River City does not add extra stress to their intake process and streamlined the grocery process so that more people can provide food for their families. If you have the means to donate time, food, energy, or supplies, I would encourage you to do so. Thank you River City, staff, and volunteers for all you do.

I volunteered at RCFB regularly for about 7 months at the Edison location. I did not receive…read moreneither food nor wages. I am neither christian nor muslim. Work was hard & exhausting. Staff orders to volunteers are regularly contradictory, confusing & changing. I always felt I was treated as the outsider. One day a highly respected muslim customer demanded I be fired over a rule bent as favoritism. RCFB Management sided w the muslim. Not surprising,volunteers are not valued despite what management claims. Total waste of time.

Wouldve been better to put on a buy nothing group (dont donate to goodwill. They throw most things away) I wish they had activities for the homeless. I have a homeless friend and he says they do t provide things for him to do so he just walks around all day. It's sad

First the place is quiet, clean, and every one I met was super nice. Second they don't make you feel like some other not for profits, you know like they are doing you a favor so you better be happy with what ever you get... No, not here. I actuality genuinely felt like these wanted to help people. A great feeling. The resources here are impressive. I couldn't believe that they cost little to no money out of pocket. Of course the over draw back with anything of this type is the amount of people in need and the a ability to support that need. So for some services, very few I have to add, there is a waiting list. Lighthouse is a great great place. A place that has filled me with hope and ambition.

A baby dove in my yard who had been out of the nest for four days was attacked by something while…read morewaiting for ma and pa to come feed him. I emailed WCA with a picture and they said to bring him in. I brought him in using one of my dogs' crate. The staff were really nice, caring, and really sweet. I let them keep the crate since it seems like an item that they could really use. When I got home, I emailed them again asking if the dove would be released in my backyard. They responded right away.

Found a baby bird fallen from nest in backyard and was unable to re-nest it. After a few hours of…read moremonitoring the makeshift nest and no sign of mother bird, I decided it was time to take this little fellow in. This place is very kind and reassured me he was in great hands and once ready to be released into the wild, he would be released close to where he was originally found. They also were able to identify what type of bird he was in seconds (mourning dove!). The woman at the front counter was extremely kind and thankful that I brought the cutie in. Thank you for taking care of the wild!
