An update on my review a couple years ago…read more. The Mansion and its little cousin, Taberna de Pancho closed over a year ago in their locations near E.North St and Haywood Rd. Since then, Taberna de Pancho has been "adopted" in the location with the blue SKYY on the corner, formerly Sky Lounge. The address is 50 Woods Lake Rd, Gvl 29607. The building is divided into 2 totally different bars, sharing only 1 entrance. You choose your musical flavor upon entering and paying the cover. Besides the Latin-music side of Taberna de Pancho, the other side plays mostly hiphop and has a predominantly black clientele. Not a problem. To each, their own and the managers, the bars and security ensure that it is a safe venue. On occasions, Pancho brings in big name musical groups which sometimes play on the other side; offering more space for guests and dancing. The inside of this "New" Taberna de Pancho location is much more upscale and more nightclub-ish, and not so much the Colombian family hole-in-the-wall that it used to be. They have a nice dance floor in the center of the room, a long bar on one side of the building and kitchen which serves Colombian fried treats. Generally, the music is excellent with Juancho being our favorite dj. But the larger venue means that the music is significantly louder than their old place... don't expect to hold much of a conversation here. If you are sensitive to loud music, you might want to be sure you've got your ear plugs in your purse or pocket. Overall, it is one of the 2 best places in Gvl for Salsa, bachata, merengue dancing on any Friday or Saturday night. The other one being Vibe.

We were worried because we saw some people turned away got dress code because we were dressed down but we were allowed entry he just had to remove his hat. Music was good it was hip hop and r&b with top 40. We thought the music was cool. Just enough for us to turn up a lil but relax and tap our feet too. Drinks Were good. Heavy handed pours and it was good. I got top shelf cocktails and 2 were $35. Crowd is mixed and everyone was just trying to have a good time.
