They know what they are doing and they do it extremely well. Even the sparkling water was icy and fabulous. As for my spaghetti marinara, I've never had better - from the texture of the pasta to the generosity of good seafood to the swoonlicious spicy balance of the sauce. Partner raved about his foccaccia - prepared with similar quality and expertise. It was our 27th anniversary lunch and how happy it made us. It was so lovely, we went back with a friend and, insanely busy though it was, it did not disappoint. A nice service touch was the manager warning us of delay...good manners, I thought. Filled the wait time nicely with a G&T,

Think of some of the best comfort food for a cold winters night - curries, pizzas and pastas. Now…read moreput it all on the one menu, serve it up in a pub style place that looks like Paul Hogan has spewed Crocodile Dundee all over it after having a night out on too much Hawaiian tiki food. It sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it? Well for the first (and probably only) time in your life that's where you'd be wrong. This place is packed, even on a Sunday night in winter in the quiet, peaceful Victor Harbor. With people drinking beers at the bar, old school 70s bands playing over the radio, or live (think Wendy Matthews and Rick Price - not the impersonators), to cramming in large tables of families inside the cafe and out, it has a buzz and atmosphere that is refreshing for this town. We ate the salmon pizza with a dill and caper mayo, the meat lovers and the vegetarian. The family sized are huge and probably 1 pizza between 2 is enough. I was so incredibly impressed with the pizzas though. A crispy base with medium crust, plenty of toppings and great, simple flavours that didn't get lost in too much cheese or tomato sauce base. Service is painfully slow. You have to go up to a packed bar to order everything and when the place is busy you can expect to wait up to 30 minutes for your food. But it makes a good excuse for tearing into a tasty pizza when it arrives.

I've come here a couple of times because it's the only cafe close to my grandparents house. This cafe is gorgeous, well decorated and cozy. The lady owner and her younger crew are nice enough, there isn't a whole lot of one-on-one experience with them as they continuously pump out coffees, milkshakes, soup and cake! The impression I got from my outings here suggested it was a pleasant half-way stop, where people simply walked in with their family during Fleurieu Peninsula travels. Now, I've had a fair few milkshakes in my time, but these are the most amazingly frosty and tasty milkshakes ever! They're not like your typical Wendy's teenager who will sparingly give just enough chocolate topping to stop it tasting like plain milk. Anyway, the food. We shared two servings of fresh scones with jam and cream, all of which was fantastic. The scones were freshly baked (still warm) and they weren't frugal on the amount of jam and cream either (big pet peeve of mine). There really isn't a lot in little old Yankalilla, but every time I visit my grandparents I want to go back! A big thumbs up for this little cafe!

That's not suggesting Melbourne food is better then Adelaide rather I had no idea where the best spots are in my new home town. Pizza was a category that I tried and tried many a places but never found the right fit. Before Speranza opened I was going to Pedros around the corner from this place which is ok but not great (6/10). Back on Speranza The wood fire pizzas are great and staff very friendly. Pricing is at the high end but it's genuine wood fire pizza so you need to expect that. I highly recommend the belissima and "the lot" (supreme). I would personally stay away from chicken as I found the chicken breast to be dry however please don't let this put you off this great little place. The shop itself does have some basic seating however I would recommend it is better suited to take away. Overall I rate 5 stars (9/10) over 20 odd visits.

I always prefer seeing sliced or shredded chicken on a pizza, rather than chicken cubes (probably the result of working for a takeaway pizza franchise during my teenage years). The pizza bases were quite thick the first time we purchased from this place but much thinner last time. They don't do your standard garlic bread (ie garlic buttered baguette), which disappointed a couple of my friends. When we picked up our pizzas and went to pay by credit card we were asked to pay with cash and had to walk to the ATM (their credit card facilities weren't down - they just wanted cash payment). Not bad but definitely room for improvement.
