I didn't get to walk around but it looked restful and allows for a nice stroll if one wanted to take a walk. There's a lake in the middle and I saw someone enjoying watching the wind make waves across it. It's a nice rest area off the interstate and not crowded the day we stopped to explore the two memorials. Later found out it's a fishing spot and wheelchair accessible.

Day two of the fool's errands found me in Broken Bow Nebraska looking for breakfast but not finding…read moreit. What I found instead was City Square Park. It's a great big park in the middle of town taking up an entire city block. It has two type of turf: synthetic spongiform impact absorbing simulated turf in the fully equipped kiddie play ground with climby things and a roundy-rounder and springy stuff and there's regular grass and dirt on everything else that isn't paved. In the middle of the park is a slightly vandalized but otherwise well kept band stand along with plenty of benches and picnic tables for sitting and watching and snacking. There's also a couple of old-timey clocks to complete the scene, one each at the SE and NW corners. What's not to like about this place?

So I'm wondering when the first letter got dropped off where was it going to go. To the 2nd pony express location? Who knows? I did not find out the answer to that on my visit here. I pulled up and the place was closed. But 2 super cool little old ladies were stopping by to unlock it because one had locked her keys inside. As a result of their kindness I was given a brief tour of the inside of the place. It's like a lot of old buildings. Storied, rustic, low ceilings and basically made entirely of wood. Some brochures, some gift shop items (I got a magnet woop), and something tells me that there's never a long line to get in. It's not far from the interstate, and it's kind of situated in a calm and relaxing park so I mean, yeah...all good things. Stop by if you're passing through. Get a magnet. That's what I did. You should do it too.

My fatty dogs couldn't get through, but a small chihuahua probably could. Also, I'm not sure how good the dirt/rock/burr ground is for the doggies' paws since I wore sandles and things kept prickly my feet as we were walking around the park. I still gave it 4 stars because I appreciated the shaded park for my girls on a hot summer day. Also, the small dog area is about 1/4th the size of the large dog area.

There are poop bag dispensers all around the fence line and a few trash cans. There is a nice water fountain in the small dog park and a very big water faucet in the big dog park. You are right next to the dog park and you can easily walk around the interior of the fence line, and it is a good walk. So unless your dog has never stepped on a sticker or you have never experienced having to take a sticker out of your dog's foot, this would be an awesome dog park. As far as the stickers go I'm sure they are just part of nature. So come enjoy the park.... Even if you step on a sticker it is well above the star rating it currently has young lady

The city of Broken Bow is located in Custer County, Nebraska (Basically right in the middle)…read more The town is small but has lights and stuff. Paved roads with slow speed limits. The main drag is on E Street (East/West) between 7th and 9th Streets (North/South). This where the city hall, town square/park and county museum is located. It's crazy how the park square is filled with women w/ babies and stuff chatting with each other. The main drag also has bunch of restaurants and bars. What's there to do in Broken Bow? Jack Sh*t~!!! Sarcasm aside. The main attractions are: 1. Custer County Historical Society & Museum, and the 2. Boneyard Creation Museum. Throughout the town are remnants of Solomon Butcher (photographer). Other than that, this place has a lot of sh*t as in fertilizer. The economy is based on cattle so it smells like it too. For the most part, I just drove through cause when am i ever going to be in central nebraska again. I mean if i have to go to omaha, im flying! since omaha isn't that special either. Food sucks here. Just beef and beer. Safe travelings peeps.

Elegant and simple, it brought a wave of sadness over me reading the names of the deceased officers who had made the ultimate sacrifice since 1916. There are four benches donated by agencies so you can sit and contemplate. And the lake it's by makes for a nice view. Very relaxing. It warmed my heart sitting there looking at the memorial and the flags flying overhead. Made me proud of my law enforcement officers and appreciative of their daily service.
