The campground was basic- just sites next to each other on a grassy area. The bathrooms left something to be desired for sure. The next morning we realized was also a small zoo we could walk through. It was okay, but we really felt bad for the buffalo and the lone caribou. None of them were living their best lives.

My fatty dogs couldn't get through, but a small chihuahua probably could. Also, I'm not sure how good the dirt/rock/burr ground is for the doggies' paws since I wore sandles and things kept prickly my feet as we were walking around the park. I still gave it 4 stars because I appreciated the shaded park for my girls on a hot summer day. Also, the small dog area is about 1/4th the size of the large dog area.

I scurried down the bluff of the sand dune to wander among the wildflower but still saw no water. This campground is very far from the water if that's your goal. The bathrooms were well maintained. We did not use but there were also showers available in exchange for tokens via cash taking machine. Recommend bringing small bills if would like a shower! Very dark skies, wonderful for seeing stars!

Lake McConaughey was everything I didn't know I needed -- peaceful, scenic, and the perfect little…read morereset. It's not far at all off I-80, which makes it super convenient, but once you're there it feels like a whole escape. The views are absolutely beautiful -- wide open skies, calming water, and just that tranquil energy that makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. If you're up for a tiny adventure, there's a slight climb down where you can access the caves and get closer to the water. It's such a cool experience and definitely worth it if you don't mind a little exploring. Whether you're looking for a quiet moment, a scenic drive stop, or a mini adventure, Lake Mac delivers. But I don't know of any dog parks around these parts that have AstroTurf! The park itself is absolutely ginormous and has grass? It's also got some really cute little places for you to sit with picnic tables that are inside these interesting little cages with roofs. There are poop bag dispensers all around the fence line and a few trash cans. There is a nice water fountain in the small dog park and a very big water faucet in the big dog park. You are right next to the dog park and you can easily walk around the interior of the fence line, and it is a good walk. So unless your dog has never stepped on a sticker or you have never experienced having to take a sticker out of your dog's foot, this would be an awesome dog park. As far as the stickers go I'm sure they are just part of nature. So come enjoy the park.... Even if you step on a sticker it is well above the star rating it currently has young lady

Very convenient from I80 with the exception of current construction on main road in. Will say only negative (and not campgrounds fault ) is that the mile of dirt road is full of ruts so go slow! This campground is conveniently located off interstate 80 in North Platte NE. This was a great…read morefind. The reservationist was friendly and helpful when we called. Prices are reasonable. The bathrooms are clean and upgraded. We saw they had a beach for swimming and ended up taking a refreshing dip in our clothes . Did I mention they are dog friendly and have a small playground for the kids. If you are just passing thru or looking for a few days to relax don't hesitate to stay here. Yes there is a slight bit of road noise but not bad at all.

Elegant and simple, it brought a wave of sadness over me reading the names of the deceased officers who had made the ultimate sacrifice since 1916. There are four benches donated by agencies so you can sit and contemplate. And the lake it's by makes for a nice view. Very relaxing. It warmed my heart sitting there looking at the memorial and the flags flying overhead. Made me proud of my law enforcement officers and appreciative of their daily service.

So I'm wondering when the first letter got dropped off where was it going to go. To the 2nd pony express location? Who knows? I did not find out the answer to that on my visit here. I pulled up and the place was closed. But 2 super cool little old ladies were stopping by to unlock it because one had locked her keys inside. As a result of their kindness I was given a brief tour of the inside of the place. It's like a lot of old buildings. Storied, rustic, low ceilings and basically made entirely of wood. Some brochures, some gift shop items (I got a magnet woop), and something tells me that there's never a long line to get in. It's not far from the interstate, and it's kind of situated in a calm and relaxing park so I mean, yeah...all good things. Stop by if you're passing through. Get a magnet. That's what I did. You should do it too.
