We visited Kungsträdgården to see the wonderful cherry trees blossom before heading to our restaurant. But due to time in between the aforementioned cherry trees and our reservation, we slipped into Victoria for a couple of drinks. When we walked in the place was really crowded and felt a bit, well, messy for a lack of a better word. But we found a nice corner table with a sofa as well as chairs and we ordered a variety of drinks between us. Some had wine, some others beer or cider, while two others enjoyed a Rose Spring cocktail and I had an Irish coffee (was a bit cold from the damp weather). For me, the Irish coffee was a bit of a let down. They used Jameson whisky that, at least to me, is too sharp for this drink. Also, the ratio of both sugar and whipped cream was too little to the coffee/whisky. Adjusted it myself with a bit more sugar that made it drinkable, but no more tasty than it was to begin with.
One of Victoria's signature cocktails is called "Majsan" and I ordered one of those for my wife. It consisted of Absolut Mango, sugar, lemon juice, guana juice, passionfruit juice, and elderberry cider. This was a really tasty, fresh and exciting cocktail! As cocktail snacks we ordered in some fries that came with a nice mayonnaise. The fries themselves were thick, crispy, and definitely above your average burger-joint fries.
All in all the drinks and snacks were OK, but the whole location and interior decoration with the bar and dining area leaves a whole lot to wish for. Like many bars, clubs, and restaurants, many feel like they are past their heydays and expiration date, and Victoria is no exception to that rule. read more
