I got the surprise of my life when I saw Jon photograph me on my road bike while descending down Mulholland Hwy - I figured he didn't bother with cyclists - but on a whim I checked his site and there were a few ascent and descent pictures! I usually run back and forth up a portion of road before reaching the snake but with the recent closure, I've just been practicing on this portion cause of its nice sweeping curves. I saw Jon taking pictures of motorists on the side of a bend, so I stopped by to say hi. He was so enthusiastic and he showed me a preview of myself in a turn, and he told me to go another time, but that he would set up farther into the turn for a more epic shot. Not only did the shot turn out epic, I was able to purchase two pictures for a very reasonable price with AWESOME quality. He also sent me the pictures ON Christmas day. My PCA Porsche club has driven by Victory Jon Photography two years in a row now, during our annual Malibu Canyon Run. Both drive-bys have resulted in stunning photos for our group. I've purchased photos from Jon both times, and am so impressed with the amazing work he does. Is it a cool career taking photos of sports cars and sports bikes all weekend long? I'm sure it is! But I'm also sure it's very challenging on a number of levels. This past Saturday's challenge had to be the weather, as it was very foggy and drizzly. I was very impressed with his work and I had no idea at the time that I was in focus, riding my motorcycle across Mulholland highway at speed. When I was later informed by my friend, with whom I had been riding that we were celebrities, I went online, checked out the pictures and ordered immediately. Speaking as a feature film publicist with 30 years in the business supervising still photography I can say unequivocally that this guy knows what he's doing and probably should teach.
