The head pastor made a point of introducing himself to us. One of the parishioners went out of her way to make us feel so comfortable and welcomed! The music was amazing! I am a little old school in the way that I love contemporary Christian music but I wish that at least one of the classic hymns would be incorporated into the music ministry. I am not singling out this church. I have suggested that my home church in Texas would do the same. The message preached was on point, articulate & I love the Old Testament! If I lived here, this would most DEFINITELY be my home church! I would highly recommend this Saguaro Canyon First Evangelical Free Church if you want to feed your soul & fill your heart with the powerful Word of God! On a side note, I read the previous review from 3 months ago regarding wearing masks and her 2 star, negative review is non sensical at best. Currently, we are no longer in a pandemic. I encourage everyone to do their own research regarding masks & the transmission of the Covid virus. They were like family to me once upon a time. I left the church when I was 16 and I'm now almost 23. I'm still a strong Christian/believer but the things I experienced here have unfortunately traumatized me and I carry with me on my day to day. If you go to this church you may notice no one stays longer than a year or two, if you start volunteering/ get close to the pastor's family they expect you to agree with them on everything. You will lose the right to your own opinion and perspectives and I do believe they twist the bible to fit their own agenda. If you disagree with them you might find yourself being called into "meetings" and being talked about on the pulpit. If you are to ask about my comment I guarantee they will say that I was a troubled teenager or am not a real follower of Jesus but that is just not the case. The manipulation and control tactics I experienced had me cut off from all family and friends, and I shamed on a daily basis. Nothing you say to the Pastors family will stay between you and that person. I do believe this church is the definition of what a modern day cult truly is. My wife and I started going here a few months ago, and we were immediately welcomed into the community, lots of friendly faces and handshaking. Although the fellow parishioners are all very nice, it's the pastor and his staff that I want to highlight. Pastor Al King took this church over around three years ago after the death of the original pastor, apparently a very well loved man who truly taught the word of God. I can tell you that Pastor King is continuing this tradition of teaching straight out of the Bible and he is solid. He also has a couple of co-pastors that are phenomenal. What I also like is that there's no rock band on stage. This is good old singing out of the hymn book, and they have a church choir who sound fabulous. In this day and age with so many false teachers out there and emphasis on fancy music and pastors who wear jeans and look like rock stars, this church is the antithesis of that. It is solid, hearing the word of God preached as it should be. It's truth. And this is a world where we all need truth. Thank you Pastor King and NTBC staff!

There are multiple masses on Sunday, which is great for society nowadays. There are no excuses now! Each individual priest are great! I can't think of specific ones, but when I go to them, I'll make sure to update on the dates and times for everyone! EVERYONE is welcome, families, kids, all ethnicities, and religions! It's a time to share great times with the community! Education is a HUGE part of this school. The school has very high expectations from the get go! Great, moving and meaningful homilies focused on mercy, forgiveness and social justice. However, there is a new, fairly inexperienced parish administrator who is leading the parish. And is easily offended if he questioned or if someone offers a different opinion. He has actually told the congregation during Mass that (paraphased) if you don't like me go somewhere else because I'm here to stay. Moreover, he said that if he wasn't leading our parish, no one else would take his place. (I hardly thing this is true.) He says that, without him, the parish would close! Seriously??? It shows me that he is inexperienced in navigating parish leadership and perhaps this is understandable bc he has only been out of the seminary less than 5 years. It's a huge job for a newbie to parish leadership. Not an easy job. This past Sunday he invited a priest from another state to officiate the mass. Visiting priest Fr. John led a pre Vatican II liturgy-styled mass that was not in keeping with the style of liturgy many of us have valued and sought in our worship practice. Fr. Richard Rivera is trying to take us back to pre-vatican practices. Many of us are not going back to the dark ages. I hope the new Bishop of Tucson can step in and find an experienced pastor to lead our church and keep the passion alive.
