We were anticipating a decent meal based on its popularity and Vietnamese staff serving the food. I had the beef noodle soup in Hue style (Bún bò Hue) which seemed to be one of the go-to dishes. Why not 4/5-stars like everyone else? Perhaps I've been spoiled with pho and similar noodle soups elsewhere but the taste was sub-par. The soup was relatively bland despite the intense appearance, and seemed to be missing the umami beefy flavor or much herb garnishing. A bit disappointed that it came with mostly lettuce but it was at least mildly spicy and sour. The saving grace was that soup was hot and the noodle portion was satisfying. I must say, locals seem quite generous with their restaurant reviews. Maybe I'm missing something, since they could just be limited by the availability of some asian ingredients despite their extensive menu.

It honestly tasted like just beef broth and throw in Viet ingredients (like noodles, some bean sprouts) and call it Pho. The beef broth wasn't the strong flavorful Vietnamese broth- like with like star anise, cinnamon, cooked down beef bone, etc. tasted like regular beef broth from a can. The egg roll was pretty good though. It wasn't bad though. It was a nice change from the Czech food. I saw the vermicelli, and that looked delicious!
