Established in 2003.
The vigilius mountain resort, which opened its doors in 2003, is a new interpretation of the "Berghotel Vigiljoch" built in 1912. With the building of this new hotel, designed and constructed according to ecological principles, the Merano entrepreneur Ulrich Ladurner realised a dream. Even as a child this place had fascinated him. Here he felt an immediate and primal proximity to nature, combined with a fascinating inimitable worldview from such a high vantage point, which had already cast a spell over him when he was a child.
Years later from this child's dream arose the very real idea to build a hotel for guests on that very spot, so as to share the unique energy emanating here. He was convinced that there would always be people like himself who would hold this spot in high esteem and love it just as he does.
Meet the Business Owner: Ulrich L.
Ulrich Ladurner, born in Meran in 1949, started working when he was just 16 years old. A few years later in 1972 he assumed a management position at the "Drogerie Ladurner", redefined the company and within a year doubled its sales.
In 1980, Ulrich Ladurner, the father of three children and dedicated family man, founded the wholesaler Dr. Schär GmbH, which specialises in gluten-free products designed for celiac sufferers. What was once a two-man operation has become today a market leader in Europe.
The headquarters of the company is in Burgstall. Research and development is one of the company's focus areas. Since 2003, a team of food technologists in the "Science Park" in Triest has been looking for new ways to make gluten-free products. Dr. Schär has also developed strong expertise in the area of healthy nutrition, thanks to decades of accumulated experience in the area of food intolerances and allergies.
