When you are in the Netherlands you need to eat fish, they have all kinds of sorts you will not find in the US, so you don't want to miss out. The portions are generous, one portion of kibbeling feeds 2 easily. I started of with the Simonis soup a small bowl with an amazingly tasty and rich seafood soup. There's also a section where you can get a bunch of dipping sauces for your fried fish. From the two fried fishes, I enjoyed eating the kibbeling more than the lekkerbekje.

They have a variety of sauces from mayonnaise, tartare, curries and so on. The fish is perfectly fried with a mild seasoning peppered on top. Outside was super crispy and the fish inside was nice and flaky. Fries were the perfect thickness and had a great bite of a texture. It's great for getting to try a lot of things! The servers here work really hard, during the dinner rush there was only 2 of them, therefore be a little patient! The wait is totally worth. Also, make a reservation if you can, they are very popular. (It was packed and we arrived 20 minutes early for our table) We ordered oysters, lobster, seabass (whole), scallops, green salad, bread, and at the end, french coffee. The highlight of the entire dinner were the razor clams. Absolutely unbelievable and a must order if you ever visit and it's on the menu! The coffee was extremely dark and we didn't finish any of it. But, being American, we probably should've known better and researched before we ordered. The creme brûlée was also very enjoyable! (Side note: all the creme brûlées I had in Europe were pre-made and not hot when they came out. Europe tingz?) The bill didn't come out to be outrageous at all and basically all we ordered was seafood... how? All in all, the perfect dinner to end my birthday. I'll be dreaming about this place for the next few years until I visit Amsterdam again.

Then we enjoyed the 'free choice' a-la-carte menu, it was as always just delicious. If you know to appreciate the value of a real chef and attentative service this is your place for great lunch/dinner. Simply one of my favorites and still a quite well kept secret - with real service, something different compared to most other places in Den Haag/Scheveningen. Looking forward to our next visit. Most often we walk there but for those who come by car there is still free parking in front of the door altough it's close to the beaches.

It's a massive tentacle though, so I'd say it's good for two people. The black tuile was also really good; it had a sweet note to it. The monkfish was good - perhaps a tad tough - but tbh, I felt that the marinated fennel carried the dish. Without it, the other components are just kinda "singing by themselves." The coffe creme brûlée was great, but the coffee flavor is VERY strong. The hazelnut ice cream & the crumble balanced it all out, but there unfortunately wasn't nearly enough of either on the plate. I also tried some of my dad's orange panna cotta. It was nice - VERY orangey. - Ambience was very nice. Very clean, bright restaurant with a seafood vibe to it, overlooking the water. Lot of outdoor seating too. We received our food very quickly - probably 10 minutes after ordering. After that though, service was very sporadic. We waited a while for both our desserts and the bill. For that reason, I'm deducting a star, but also because the place is so pricey. Though I suppose you're consciously signing up for that if you come here. My dad also wanted me to note that the fries are very... full, I suppose. They have a nice "fullness" to them.

The sushi rice was still cold from the fridge, making the tuna roll an appetizer I wouldn't choose again. Crème brulées were tastier than the flans, which were both a bit too firm. The blueberry flavors lent a more balanced sweetness than the coffee c.b., and the mellow licorice accompanying the pineapple flan made for more interesting flavors than the peach one. Frankly, the long wait between courses dissuaded us from sending anything back. Two and a half stars. Outdoor seating fills up fast, probably because it gets quite warm inside. Service was charming and spoke great English, but incredibly slow even after the restaurant empties out. Even as someone who's typically ambivalent to gin, I have to admit that their G&T's are delicious. Who would've thought that my favorite course at a seafood restaurant would be dessert? I won't be returning to De Dagvisser, given the abundance of seafood-serving alternatives in the Hague.
