Im not sure why I ordered the French onion soup considering we were going to France. Anyhow it was not how I pictured it or how it's made in the US. The soup had two pieces of bread on the top of the soup served with two slices of brown bread on the side. So there wasn't any cheese on top like what I'm used to. The only cheese was the very small amount that had on the small pieces of bread. Well I thought guess it's made different in Amsterdam. It was actually bland it needed salt, I guess maybe because im used to it with lots of cheese. It was still good just not what I was expecting. The burger was something else, it was delicious. They cooked it perfectly it was full of juiciness and lots of good flavors. Simple burger with toasted sesame bun. The fries oh the fries, it was so crispy and good, I couldn't stop eating them. Service was great. Overall good experience and if you're in the area nice to have a late night spot.

The menu is simple with the different sizes of fish and fries you can order. We ordered the kibbeling to share (little nuggets of fried fish) and a Friet XL. They have a variety of sauces from mayonnaise, tartare, curries and so on. The fish is perfectly fried with a mild seasoning peppered on top. Outside was super crispy and the fish inside was nice and flaky. Fries were the perfect thickness and had a great bite of a texture. The only server that was the most accommodating man that we've encountered, super friendly and kind to help us with everything.

My friends not very food adventurous, so we went simple and easy. Lucky we found someone that spoke English so we could order. We decided to share the herring sandwhich "broodje haring" . And a small platter of fried fish (I think cod), which came out super hot, this was good. The place was pretty popular, lots of people coming in and out. Orders everywhere. They don't have much seating. Only a few bar stools inside, which we got lucky on. Or find a spot outside standing up. Or find seating at another food stall.

The only things that I felt that were a sure bet "good to eat" were the French fries (AKA Belgian fries) :) They were fried crunchy and the sauces are good. 5 Euro for a nice size medium paper cone full of fries (plenty for one person). They have at least 15 different sauces that you can choose, and some of them sounded a bit exotic... like a Thai peanut mayonnaise with onions. I tried the Belgian mayonnaise, which was a very rich mayo. The other fast food on offer, like the dürüm wraps, just didn't look that fresh and they were opening up plastic bags and taking the pre-sliced and cooked meat out and putting it into the wraps. This was actually about 2 minutes after I got there, and they announced they had stopped making sandwiches / wraps, and only were offering fries because it was late. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and think it's probably much better during the day. But the crunchy late night fries are good! And everyone seemed to be enjoying what they were eating. There is also a McDonald's next-door and a couple other sandwich fast food and pizza places that are open late a block or two away for more variety. This is a chain and there are several locations.
