Salt and pepper shrimp according to the recipe of grandma Hu.

Relaxed restaurant of father Hu and his two sons. Lots of recipes are made according to family recipes. The enthusiasm of the team is contagious. The food is made with passion. Go and meet the Hu-men. http://www.amsterdambitestodiefor.com/savoury/grandmas-shrimp/

The sushi deluxe combo, after being dropped on the ground by a toddler.

I tried sushi from this place via the food delivery app deliveroo. They're a bit expensive and the sushi was just ok, and inexplicably salty. The only plus side is the delivery time was relatively quick due to them being pretty close to me. I'm not sure I would try them again. I think I'll keep looking.

The food was good but a little overpriced . Service was ok but very slow . The buns were delicious but the shrimp dumplings very plain.

Actually I used to be vegan -- marrying a person who ate meat and having sons who required meat because otherwise one only ate carbohydrates -- forced me back into working with dead proteins. Fortunately the industry has come up with great substitutes and I am becoming more clever with figuring out alternatives and a higher number of dishes to increase choices. Still, I dream of finding a company that produces great seaweed alternatives... but I digress, sorry. Back to Easyeasyhappyhappy: quite delightful and affordable for Amsterdam prices! And my husband loved his curry (nice and spicey!). We were lucky to get a spot at the bar that Tuesday evening; I was thinking that the full restaurant was going to be a positive indicator of our experience: confirm that. Plenty of outside seating when the weather improves! Definitely try this restaurant when in the neighborhood. I don't know about parking but public transportation is excellent in Amsterdam. Betcha next time we're in the neighborhood I am going to treat myself to the roll again.

I do find it exciting that they are trying innovative flavors, but I also think its important to not overshadow some of the foundations in the process. (Tuna Nigiri: C) - Smells extremely delightful, but unfortunately dullfully lacking saline that could only be partially resolved by soy sauce. (Salmon Nigiri: C) - Fascinating concept with a South Asian influenced flavor profile that seemingly works. I'm not sure what the foam is supposed to be for since its completely disjoint from the salmon, but this dish wouldve worked if it was balanced with saline. (XO Siu Mai: B) - Surprisingly well flavored with a tender meat mixture, topped with some subtle xo to enhance with a noticeable but not overpowering spiciness. (Steamed Scallop: A) - This is the least fusion dish but also unironically the best from what I've sampled. A very classic profile with tender scallops, and an abundance of vermicelli and garlic that is perfectly seasoned with soy and sesame. My body was craving something with actual nutritional value, and the Asian food scene was so strong here that we thought finding a sushi place seemed like a good idea. Indeed it was. Geisha is a really nice restaurant - dark and swanky, it was definitely a great place to have a meal. I also really dug the bar, which was super swanky and glass. This restaurant has a fairly limited sushi menu, but what we had was very good and fresh. But the dim sum menu was really the star of the show. We got iberico pork suimai which was REALLY good. And then the shrimp dumplings were also really delicious. The beef dumplings were also good but were pretty greasy and our least favorite. In addition I ordered the miso soup, which was possibly the best miso I have ever had. It was clearly made to order and came with a pool of lovely mushrooms - two kinds. It was absolutely delicious. Our waitress, who was the manager or owner was OK. She didn't write anything down and then had to come back to our table to verify our order. I also was somewhat disappointed that they charge you for tap water here (we were charged per little bottle they brought to the table). But other than that, it was truly a very nice meal.
