The traditional Island Resort restaurant, not that is a bad thing. They had a live band, outdoor seating along the water, dancing, billiards, and a ping pong table. They have a well know drink that is served a coconut but you must approach with caution. A local at steps beach said "1 of their coconut drinks is not enough and 3 is too many". A couple of the women in our group learned that 1.5 was too much. The food was good, try the churasco or mofongo. read more

Went here for two nights at happy hour as it was close to our hotel. It sits right on the beach, we walked down the beach from our hotel to get here. We sat outside at the bar, it seemed indoor seating was also available. First off, happy hour was relatively cheap, medalla was on special and their popular coconut drink is $5 opposed to $9. Had to have the coconut as it seemed popular, I enjoyed it. We had the grilled shrimp and the coconut shrimp. The grilled shrimp came in a pile of butter, while they tasted fine I am not a fan of seafood drenched in butter. The coconut shrimp were super tasty with a nice aioli. The food I tasted is maybe two stars, but they get the extra two stars for super nice bar staff and the location was conducive for beautiful sunsets. Villa Cofresi is not worth visiting unless you are staying there. I have been going to Villa Cofresi for almost 20 years but everything has changed. You can no longer visit as before. I have gone 3 different times to eat, I live 2 hours from Villa Cofresí and every time I go they are always full, they do not allow reservations. The staff gives priority to guests, which is understandable, but they should have a system for people like me who travel from afar to eat there. The staff has told me all 3 times that their guests come first to go elsewhere. They won't try to accommodate far away visitors. And the smart comments the staff make are truly unnecessary specially from the security guard. If you look for other reviews on here there are others who have complained about the same thing and it seems like the owners don't care at all about other paying customers besides there guest. It's truly a shame because it wasn't like this. I will truly miss this place. I will no longer go back and I don't recommend this place as a visitor, you will waste your time traveling there. read more

Staying at a house nearby in Rincon, we headed to Villa Cofresi for some late afternoon/early evening drinks - that makes this a review of the bar area, not the hotel. When you pull off the road the entry road doesn't look like much, but once we were parked and saw the building, i had a hunch that we were in for something good. The lobby that you walk through to get to the bar area is open-air (makes sense given the location) and it opens up to an outdoor bar area that is directly on the beach. We decided to try to signature coconut drink (served in a coconut) and enjoyed it as a drink, as well as the presentation. Wasn't really over-priced either, as you often see for those types of beverages. The bartenders weren't super-quick, but were cordial and entertaining with their presentation. Great place to watch a sunset, to hang out with the tourists and a few locals and enjoy the bartenders whacking their machete for those coconut drinks. Tip them and hear the bells ring! Traveled from Colorado for the Rincon Beach Boy SUP event and had a blast. Was treated great from the time I checked in til I left from all levels of hotel/bar employees. I'm a photographer and felt completely comftorable leaving my gear and computer in the room while I left. Room service neatly stacked my gear and had my room cleaned every morning. While there was plenty to do with the event I was able to escape to the upper balcony to unwind while I watched the palm trees blow in the wind. I'll be back for sure to do some exploring. The hotel has a great social/night life presence to mingle with locals and guests at their bar. I'm a sucker for taking my drink 15 feet away from the bar to standing on sand and feeling the small waves lap in. Thanks, I'll be back!! read more

This review is for the restaurants. We eat here a lot. As in, a few times a week over a month to six weeks. Food is always good; staff is always wonderful. I look forward to every meal there. My only complaint is not restaurant related- the handicapped parking is routinely blocked, often by maintenance or parking staff. Come here for a special treat and see the sunset. Rincón has some of the prettiest sunset viewing spots on the island and this hotel is no exception. The drinks are made strong and they run a good happy hour daily. Make sure you try the house specialty cocktail served in a coconut called the 'Coco Pirata'. It's delicious and is mixed with a few different types of rum. The food is also pretty good. Servers are friendly and attentive. Sadly, the beach here was mostly swept away by Maria, but the hotel has recovered from the damages and the exterior is in great condition. Rincon PR hotel right on beach. The bar is a central attraction. We stayed three nights and requested an ocean front room. Our room was gorgeous and recently remodeled after the hurricane. We stayed in 318 which is the top floor as far from the bar as possible and the view was magnificent. There are only (@9) of theses rooms and the price is moderate for such a lovely view and private balcony. If you are sensitive to noise, note this is a family friendly establishment and PR in general seems to love loud music with cars boasting stereo speakers sometimes hanging out of the trunk. Brief Views of other rooms while walking by were NOT as pleasant but the staff was great and was quick to be accommodating, so don't hesitate to ask for beach front with private balcony. We would return but probably opt for a little more quiet accommodations. all in all really pleasant read more

my coworkers and i came to villa cofresi for dinner and drinks, so i can't speak for the hotel portion (i personally would not stay here due to the fraternity/sorority type crowd partying until late night). their signature drink which is a mixture of coconut water and rum served in a coconut shell was well received by my coworkers. i had a sip, but was not all that impressed since i am not a huge fan of neither coconut nor rum. for dinner, i had asopas con camarones which was a tomato based soup with large shrimp and rice. i was dying to try mofongo, puerto rico's regional dish made with fried plantains mashed with garlic and pork fat or bacon bits, so i ordered one as a side. on its own, the mofongo was a little dry and bland for me, but with the soup mixed in, it was delightful. our entrees came with a salad and garlic bread, and i must admit that i enjoyed the bread more than anything i had in puerto rico during my entire 4 days spent there. the restaurant/bar sits right on the beach, so the view is fantastic. if you don't mind loud, drunk american college kids, this is a good place to share some drinks and enjoy the sunset. read more

We are not fussy or given to carping and generally do not write negative reviews, but during our stay here Mar 1-3/2022 we had no room telephone and no Internet service at any time despite many repeated requests for such. Management explained this away by blaming the phone company and Internet provider. There also was NO HOUSEKEEPING service whatsoever other than a plastic bag full of clean towels tied to the outside of the room door each day (no clean sheets, no floor or bathroom cleaning, no fresh glasses, etc).  Room was dark with no ventilation other than A/C and a small window in the shower. Carpeted areas that I observed were worn and stained.  Beach area was okay, but thin; there are much finer  beaches in the vicinity. There are much better accommodations nearby, so I suggest that you do your homework before considering booking here. I certainly wouldn't come back, even if it was free. read more

We found a cockroach in our room. They told us breakfast is included and its not included. Just to warn you. The pool is cold. The hot tub pictured really isn't a hot tub. The coffee isn't free. I really, really liked this place. We did not stay at the hotel but my sister, who is a local, brought us for drinks here after a long day of shopping. I told her that I badly wanted a refreshing cocktail out of a coconut, and she told me she knew just the place to go. After a short drive from Aguadilla we were at Villa Confresi bar ready to order. The bartender was very cool about telling me exactly what he used to make my very strong drink. Apparently 5 different rums, fresh coconut ( obviously) and carnation evaporated milk. They pour the cocktail in a fresh coconut and whatever does not fit in your coco they pour in an a plastic cup.This is a seaside bar so we sat down, enjoyed our drink and washed the waves crash against the side of the bar. We brought the kids with us, (they have a kids game room) and they even enjoyed a virgin version of the coco cocktail. While my hubby and I felt romantic near the beach sipping our coco my sister gave my boys a brief history lesson on the area. It is a local legend that the beach we were on was actually believed to be the location that the pirates would anchor up and enter the island from the shore. My kids loved the story and we loved the location. I would definitely consider staying at this little resort our next visit. read more

Well, there are some good and bad things about this spot. First the good: it's a hell of a location and bar/nightlight scene. There is a 360 bar right on the beach boardwalk and the sunset views here cannot be beat - the bar staff can get a bit overwhelmed at times, so wait time for a drink may be a little bit, but I promise the will get to you! The hotel staff is also excellent and very accommodating and helpful. They offer a free continental breakfast for guests (which is a bit limited but whatever), and towels for the pool/beach are available. The grounds are also quite nice and upkeep is definitely there. Hint: If you are staying there at the hotel, they give you wristbands to wear to identify you as a guest of the hotel. I noticeably got better service at the bar and elsewhere when wearing it - SO WEAR IT IF YOU HAVE IT!!! So that was kind of nice. Now the bad: If you are coming here for a relaxing vacation or just to "get away from it all", I may look elsewhere. The bar can, and often become a wild and noisy time. And if you wanted to book one of the more deluxe rooms with a balcony and sunset view as we did, then you are going to hear it most of the night from your room. Fortunately I believe they close the bar at 12, so things die down shortly afterwards, but if you want to go to bed at 9 in total quiet, then maybe look elsewhere (or ask for a room on the front of the building away from the bar/beach scene). Also, we came here during some college swim/diving team thing, so the place was full of young people - almost giving it a Cancun Spring Break feel. This didn't bother us at all, but just a heads up for those traveling during "college-out" times of the year. Second qualm is that if you are looking for first class bed and room comfort, they maybe go someplace else. The bathrooms were quite nice and AC worked wonders, but bed could use and update. In summary, this place is GREAT for those not too worried about 100% comfort and want to get that sunset view without spending a fortune. Great for those between 25-40 really due to the social scene and picturesque views. My girlfriend and I both liked out time here and would likely come back here to stay again if the opportunity to spend time on the West coast ever happened again. Been to this place a dozen times over a few years and was it OK. Decent food and sunset views. On two different nights, both times a 20 min wait standing at the bar to try and buy drinks for our group. BUT, the WORST was when the owner of the place made the amazing rock and roll band stop playing because they had a group in a banquet room that wanted to pray. After finally getting our drinks, awaiting the 3rd set, he refused to let the band begin their set and made them pack up. This was a Saturday night about 9pm with a surf festival in town, and a good crowd enjoying the band. I'll never give this place my business again. Why they would book conflicting groups is really odd. I'll stick with Calypso where the bartenders are great, food is good, and the bands are encouraged to play, sometimes even longer than expected when the crowd is enjoying them so much. read more

This review is for the bar, not for the hotel! That said...I love Villa Cofresi! I was staying a house that was a five minute walk down the beach so we were here often. Their "house" drink is the called the Pirate that is made with a fresh coconut, rum, coconut milk/juice and topped with cinnamon. It's delicious! You also get two drinks out of it, which is awesome. I only tried their pinchos and fries, and I was disappointed. But it's bar food...so how good can it be? All of the bartenders are friendly. They also have locals and gringoes nights, so it's fun to go on those nights and meet some people. It's not one of those typical surfer bars, which I really enjoy. Another chef smart ass approved spot! The pirata (rum drink tastes kinda like coquito served in a coconut). frequented by locals and tourists. Super friendly bar staff! We had a surtido(appetizer platter) with some of the best sorullo I've had yet. Also the security is super friendly. I actually saw the Jamaican security member handle a few situation with a lot of tact and politeness which is not what I'm used to seeing in the NYC area. Only downside is they close the bar at 1a.m. only thing I would change is the wine list. a bit more variety and better selections. my thought is to do a tasting with your distributor and your bartenders (they are your front line on knowing what your customers want and tend to ask for) also if they don't like your selection its harder for them to help your customers choose. read more

Words cannot express how we felt about staying at Villa Cofresi and the way they made us feel at home from the time we stepped out of the car. We arrived for check-in and the first thing that struck my wife and I was the amazing open lobby looking out towards the ocean, the huge bar with 3 amazing bartenders (more on that later), and the live music. For those of you old enough to remember, it was like stepping into "Fantasy Island", all we needed was for Ricardo Montalban and Tattoo to welcome us. The check-in process was very smooth and everything was ready for us to start enjoying Villa Cofresi to it's fullest. We were assisted to the room by a gentleman named Kenneth who went above and beyond to make us feel at home and explain the amenities of Villa Cofresi and even gave us a VIP parking spot. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms that was more than adequate for us. A/C worked like a charm, the bed and pillow were super comfy, plenty of hot water, and very quiet. The TV had the major channels and the room came equipped with blower, soap, shampoo, etc. Our breakfast was included in the price of the room and it wasn't bad at all. The Puerto Rican coffee (I believe it was Yaucono) was great and it got you going in a jiffy! Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast that included ham, cheese and a hot press for your sandwich. The cool thing about breakfast was that you could order a la carte from the menu at a reduced rate because the breakfast was included. Breakfast was served in the restaurant area close to the bar............which leads me to review the bar. If "Bartending" ever became an Olympic Sport then Villa Cofresi would undoubtedly have the Bartending "Dream Team". This Trio of bartenders (Wilfred, Alex, and Joselo) including the "bar back" whose name I did not get (shame on me!) were excellent to say the least. These guys were courteous, efficient, acknowledged your presence, prepared awesome drinks, exceptional in their knowledge of the Rincon area and above all made you feel welcome (even though I was wearing a St Louis Cardinals hat!). These guys all complemented each other and worked very hard to ensure the guests were taken care of. But, you cannot, REPEAT, cannot come to Villa Cofresi without trying their specialty drink for over 50 years, the "Pirata Especial", not only is this drink amazing to drink and savor, but making it is a "show in and of itself". This Drink has 151 Rum, Gold Rum, White Rum, Creme of Cacao, coconut water and cinnamon on top. It's served to you in the coconut with some of it in a glass to refill the coconut as you drink and admire the view, drink 2 of these and for real you'll feel like you're on "Fantasy Island".
