I was tired of being gouged by big chain airport hotels so I did some research and found Clement…read moreBarajas, a boutique hotel in Villa de Barajas, near Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport. The room was very cozy with all of the basic needs except for an iron and ironing board, which was no big thing, and the hotel staff was excellent and very friendly. There was a full bar and a nice restaurant, Urban Bistro, that satisfied my culinary needs. Breakfast was not included but for €8 extra, one could indulge in a delightful buffet breakfast. There is no shuttle bus but Uber was only €7 to Terminal 1 where my flight was leaving from. I will definitely stay here again with more time so I can explore the village, a destination known for its parks, pubs, and leisure spaces and even canoeing on a serene city park lake.

Since our flight to Dallas was the next morning, we booked a hotel near the Madrid Airport. We had a lovely surprise when we stayed at Hotel Clement Barajas near the airport. Expecting that we would need to taxi to a restaurant, we found out that the hotel had a good restaurant where we enjoyed wine and nice tapas. In addition, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Our room was large, modern, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. In the morning, we made coffee in our room, but also enjoyed a very nice breakfast buffet in the hotel for a very modest price. Also, Clement had a complimentary and nice shuttle to the airport every hour. If you need to stay near the Madrid airport, I would highly recommend this friendly and nice hotel, with such an economical price.

Airport is 5 minutes away and there is a shuttle that will take you there. A schedule is posted at check in that includes shuttle schedule from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. There is a slot of times that is bolded and according to the staff member those are the bigger shuttles. You need to book the time and let them know if you want to be on one of those shuttles. Rooms are spacious and clean. Interesting design in that there was a second door just after the main room door. So you enter your room, the bathroom is just to the right or left and then there is a second door that enters the sleeping area. Bathroom had a sink area, shower, toilet and bidet. All soap is in refillable pump bottles but it was a good selection. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion. Bar fridge contains small selection of chargeable drinks and there is also snacks on the table. No coffee maker, just a kettle that you can use to make Nescafé, which is provided. Our room had 2 singles pushed together to make a larger bed but was made up as 2 beds. Sleep was good, pillows (you get 3) are on the softer side. Again , standard hotel, nothing spectacular or memorable.

Biggest pass along - DON'T EAT HERE it is awful; worst gristle loaded terrible tasting hamburger I think I have ever had .... Jump in an Uber and find something to save yourself the disappointment. A super conscientious gentleman with a beard (sorry, I missed his name) checked us in before 7am. (We have platinum status). We loved suite room 3103. It was super clean, spacious, and very very quiet. The bed was comfy and the sheets nicely crisp. The giant breakfast buffet clicked all the boxes too. The third floor Executive Lounge was fabulous (though we did gave front row seats to watch a business group slug down multiple bottles of wine...) The sangria and wine were yummy and the cold and hot snacks perfect. Having recently stayed at a Marriott in New Orleans USA, this was 1000x better. This hotel exceeded all my expectations and set a new benchmark. We utilized the hotel shuttle to the airport at 6:30 in the morning. We were the only guests using it, and got dropped efficiently. We'll be back at the end of February to catch a flight out of Madrid airport.

Despite what the the website and telephone answering service say, they do not provide shuttle services either to or from the Madrid airport. You'll have to get a taxi or rideshare from the airport (it actually seems to be cheaper to take Uber). The front desk can arrange a taxi for pickup when you're leaving, but you'll find that Ubers are plentiful around the area. Check in and check out are easy. Staff are professional and courteous but the rooms themselves exceeded expectations. Everything was spotless and though the themed rooms are a little kitschy, the overall design is sleek and well stocked with toiletries and storage space. Beds were comfy and our family suite's bathroom was enormous. There's a small suburban shopping area not too far away but didn't get to take advantage as we arrived late at night.

This is not the Ritz... if that is what you require look elsewhere rather than being a jerk on Yelp. Pros: ======= -Staff was friendly and accommodating. -The room was clean, well supplied, and of a comfortable size. (Not big, but not uncomfortably small.) -The food at the restaurant downstairs was wonderful. I am not a food snob by any means, but the selections were tasty, and fresh. (Here the staff was especially wonderful. -The blackout curtains were great. -I heard a jet ONCE and it was a low hum. Cons: ====== -The temperature in shower was unstable day and night. It would go from hot to searing to tepid on a dime. Would stay here again for sure.
