Beautiful estate on the outside, terribly outdated on the inside with NO service…read more Pros: 1. The landscaping driving up to the building is great. 2. Comprehensive free breakfast buffet. Now to the cons: 1. The rooms are so old. I had a room on the top floor, and spent the entire stay hunched over. The exposed beams are so low that I cannot stand upright. I was constantly hitting my head. I'm 5'9 (175cm). 2. There is no service. My room was not made until I asked for it to be made at 1PM. My toilet did not flush due to a bad button, I brought it up as soon as I checked into the room, followed up the next day, it was NEVER fixed. I spent the entire trip manually flushing the toilet Amish-style by lifting up the lid of tank and yanking on the lever. 3. Someone entered my room (assuming to service it) while I was out and left a bloody towel (see pictures with fresh blood). When I brought it up to the front desk, all I was looking for was an apology and that they will take care of it. Instead, the management made me late to the wedding I was attending by forcing me to speak with housekeeping in a "she said, she said" back-and-forth. The management patronized me by denying fault. I don't even care that this towel was there. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how the hotel dealt with the situation, with no apology or even sympathy. 4. Everything at this villa is extra. You are not allowed to bring outside food or wine on the premise. They even charge 3 EUR each for a pool towel (you're not allowed to use your bath towel). There are so many equally beautiful villas nearby, at very competitive prices. Do not make the mistake I made.

You could walk there if you decided to take the train. The staff was very friendly and helpful (Luca, Sonia and Francesco). They provide free bicycles which made our trip really fun and made getting around the city so easy. We booked a family room which was two joined rooms with a private shared hall and bath. This meant our children (ages 15 and 11) could be in their room watching MTV while we had a bit of quiet. Free parking, wifi and breakfast. We will recommend this hotel to everyone. All around lovely stay and a great value.

The young owners are extremely helpful and welcoming. They gave us great tips on local aperitivo bars. All rooms have private bathroom, tv and minibar. Breakfast is huge and delicious. Location is wonderful, only 2 mins walk to the Guinigi Tower and less to the main shopping street. Despite its central location the hotel was quiet and relaxing. Now on to the best bit, if you like eggs you will love this place. How do you like them? Just say and they will do them for you, alongside breakfast buffet of cereal, breads, meats, fresh fruit and the best coffee in Lucca. We are going back asap and hope to many times over. Greta, our front desk receptionist who helped us check in, was very friendly and welcoming. She was extremely thorough explaining their onsite amenities. I didn't realize they had a jacuzzi at the time of booking, so it was exciting that she mentioned there was one. In general, hospitality was top notch. All the front desk staff members were amazing. Always friendly and ready to help. They were also very supportive in grabbing taxis for us and even advocating for us when we ran into issues with the taxi company on late drivers. I had the chance to enjoy their onsite cafe for complimentary breakfast. The food was quite good! Loved their runny eggs and selection of cheeses. They had a barista, who made coffee drinks for you. I had a delightful cappuccino every time. I got a 3 person room that included a queen and twin size bed. I appreciated that she put us next to the elevator, because my father-in-law, who was staying in our room, had mobility challenges. The bed was firmer than I'm used to, but I was comfortable and slept well. The room did feel small though, but it also didn't help that we came with 3 large pieces of check-in luggage, 2 hand-carries, and 3 big backpacks. The room made up for lack of ground space with closet storage and hooks. The bathroom felt small as well, and toiletries were minimal. They had an all-purpose shower soap that functioned as body wash and shampoo. Interestingly, they gave us all travel size conditioner but no lotion so know to bring your own. The shower floor was slippery for my father-in-law, but he was able to get a rubber mat to help him with stability. Lastly, as everyone mentioned, location was everything. We were one minute away from one of the main entrances into the city center. The hotel also offered bikes for cruising around the city. My husband and I took advantage of the perk and explored the wall limits where there's a very easy, flat, scenic trail for walking and bike riding.

Bathrooms are very small and there is not room to even bend over in the shower it is so tight. No ledge to put shampoo etc so it's quite inconvenient. We arrived at the hotel on a group reservation and had added an extension on for a couple of days anticipating we would want to stay and relax at the end of our trip. Checked in on a weds, and when we saw the room, it was clear this was not going to be a "relaxing" place to end our trip and tried to cancel our reservation for Sat and Sunday night. We were told there was a three day cancelation policy and they would not honor our request, we would have had to requested the cancelation the day before. This seemed quite unreasonable to me since we were already staying their Weds - Friday. Good customer service would have canceled the Sat and Sun nights for us since we were not satisfied with the rooms or hotel overall. Feels very much like a business hotel, very disappointing way to end our trip.

Entry on a…read moreMonday morning cost us €50 per person for access to a few pools, a sauna, Turkish steam room, and borrowed robe/towel/swim cap. It wasn't worth more than €20. Most of the pools were dirty... The outdoor pool had large pieces of plastic floating in it along with dirt and debris. One of the indoor pools had pieces of toilet paper/tissue floating in it (shudder), and there was a lingering bad smell, like a dirty diaper. The layout of the facility is bizarre. There were elements on two different sides of the sprawling hotel and to get to each, you had to traipse across the hotel property, up and down steps, in your robe and slippers, dripping wet. In case you couldn't tell, I'd give this spot a hard pass. I hope I save someone else the disappointment -- spend that €50 elsewhere!
