DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My friend and I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had the worst experience here. Do not let the pictures of this hotel fool you. This hotel is completely run down. You can tell the hotel has not had any maintenance or renovations in several years. Our first day walking into our room we were shocked at how awful the room was. The curtains were old, dirty and dusty. The door to the outside area with the hammock did not work. You litterally had to push the door upwards in order to slide it over. This door also didn't fully close so you had the outside heatness and humidity come into the room. When this was brought to the attention of the hotel staff front desk, they stated maintenance would arrive the next day to fix the issue. The door was never fixed and I highly doubt maintenance even came to try and fix the door while we were out on a tour. The hotel room floor was disgusting. It was peeling off, dirty, and covered in white spots. Watch out this hotel does not have fresh water!! They do not state this anywhere on their website when booking!! The water you shower with and wash your hands is all salt water!! The bathroom sink faucet was coming off it's attachment. The shower area has minimal lighting so it's difficult to see anything if you shower in the evening or night. The bathroom mirror was all messed up as you can see in my pictures. The second night at the hotel, the electricity and water was out the entire night! We received no information from the hotel staff about what was going on. Because the electricity was out the ac was not working and the room was literally a sauna. We couldn't flush the toilet or wash our hands because there was no water at all. My friend and i were unable to sleep the entire night. In the morning I brought up the issue to the receptionist and he acted like he had no idea what had happened. Really? So no one in the hotel let him know what happened? No other hotel guests complained? They didn't even apologize for the occurrence or offer like a complimentary meal. Again, do not stay here!!! The hotel looked like it was barely hanging on and staff didn't know what they were doing. The owner should be embarrassed and ashamed for keeping this hotel open in such a bad state! They also need to update their pictures of how the hotel really looks like now, a busted motel! We will never be back at this hotel again, such a horrible experience. Beautiful property but horrible experience. To begin with, security guard carries a weapon, which should have been the first red flag. We also noticed our bathroom window did not close properly. The latch seemed to be broken and would not close as much as we tried. This did make us nervous as any drunk person could easily come in through our bathroom window. Late at night we heard the screams of a woman. She was screaming along with yelling "help me!". We went out to see but could not figure out where the screams were coming from. An hour later the crying began again. When we peaked out the window, this time all we saw was the marina soldiers. Another hour later, we heard the screaming again. This time we called the front desk to ask what was going on. Front desk of course stated everything was under control and it was only a trespasser. Keep in mind the screaming was off and on for about 3 hours. The next morning we found blood on the floor. read more

Stayed here for a few days to attend a wedding. I read previous reviews and was pretty skeptical before our arrival. After a long day of travel, we were greeted with open arms. There was an issue with one of the rooms we booked and it was quickly resolved. The service was spectacular. From the front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and beach service. Zero complaints. I have traveled extensively through Mexico and have been in some real shit holes. This was not one of them. This is Mexico. Embrace it. If you want 5 star accommodations, don't come here. If want to have a simple, relaxing Mexico beach experience at a fair rate, come here. That being said, the club next door is loud. My suggestion is to request a room facing the ocean, we were in H5. Warning.. for your safety do not stay here.. I got a weird text message from a Colombian # on WhatsApp in Spanish.. then almost immediately after a call from someone claiming to be front desk at the hotel I was staying at and they had my name. We could barely talk because I'm not fluent in Spanish. I hung up immediately & went to the front desk to see what was going on. They had not called. This number called me over and over and I had the front desk talk to them. They were asking if I was in my room alone and said something about extortion... the front desk manager and security hung up with them and looked utterly scared.. which scared me even more. They didn't want to tell me what had been said, but I got a little out of them and basically it sounded as if they were either planning on robbing me or kidnapping me. I'll never know, but the manager "posted" a security guard outside my hotel room supposedly all night. Luckily I was with two other people in the room. I have not given my number to anyone and had just booked the hotel THAT day. The hotel refused to refund me my last night as I no longer feel safe here and am obviously leaving. On top of that you can hear music from bagatelle next door until 2-3 am, and there is absolutely no sound barrier between the walls so we heard people screaming, having sex, stomping and partying at all hours of the night. At3am we heard insane screaming next door(right in front of our hotel room door) and fighting...The guy next door told me this morning he returned home from partying with his girlfriend to find 10 random people partying and doing drugs in his hotel room. My first beach club experience in Tulum. No minimum, but I ended up spending about $30 on food and drinks. I thought the service was wonderful -- I didn't feel pressured to leave. The chairs were comfortable and the ambiance was great. I plan on spending a lot of time here during the rest of my trip. read more

***update: they have bed bugs too!! I had bites and just got them checked by a doctor because they didn't look like mosquito bites, and confirmed there were bed bugs!!! Stay away from this place at all costs!!! ***No wifi, rooms not as pictured, rats, thieves and bad vibes. If I could give zero stars I would. When we first arrived, the room was nothing like what was pictured on their website and the AC wouldn't turn on. As a courtesy, a very sweet gentleman at the front desk upgraded our room. He was very kind and I wish I got to have him help me my entire stay. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The manager was an extremely rude and impatient woman. We had rats in our room, the wifi didn't work, the new room had AC that turned on, but didn't cool the room down, the doors and windows didn't close properly, and the noise from the clubs nearby kept us up all night. To make matters worse, after keeping quiet and not complaining about the rats, because they were nice enough to upgrade our room, we woke up one night to a loud commotion outside our door, two more rats in our room, snd the hotel cat outside our door trying to bring a dead rat into our room. We woke up in the morning with the dead rat head at our door. On our last day, preparing for departure, we took our things out of the safe and got ready to leave. We quickly went downstairs to a hotel next door to have breakfast (because the food at the hotel restaurant was nothing special). When we got back, we went to our wallets to get money to TIP the housekeeping, as we did the entire trip. They had yet to come clean our room that morning, but someone definitely passed by after we left the room because the rat head was no longer there, even though they hadn't cleaned our room yet. When we got to our wallets to tip the staff, ALL of our cash was missing. Apparently, the management thinks money has legs and just walked out of our wallets, as they made no effort to take responsibility for their staff- the only ones with the other key to our room. The cameras, which I could see in the office clearly worked, suddenly weren't working so they couldn't locate the thief. They even claimed that they didn't have another key to our room snd that nobody could open it if we weren't there- a clear lie because the housekeeping barged into our locked room while we were inside on numerous occasions. There was even a spare key hanging right behind the front desk with our room number on it. I could clearly see it and was in shock that the manager would sit there and lie to us. The housekeeping staff was all ordered to bring their bags out, after the manager took her sweet time going and giving them a speech and giving them enough time to take whatever they stole out of their bags before they brought it up for inspection. When we asked the manager to call the police, she refused, and when we asked to use their phone, because their wifi was trash and never worked, they refused to allow us to use it as well. To the sweet man that upgraded our room and the other sweet guy that worked at the front desk and sympathized and was so kind to us, thank you so much. I appreciate your hospitality. As for the Brazilian manager who failed to help us out and take any accountability for the HUNDREDS of dollars of cash that was stolen from our room, I hope the hotel realizes how terrible you are and speak to the guests. read more

*** STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS*** We stayed here for 4 nights and had our money stolen 1 hour before checking out! They knew we were leaving that day and as we headed to breakfast next door for a quick breakfast (cuz who wants to eat at a place with a rat and bed bug infestation?) someone (likely the cleaning crew) came in and stole 400$ out of my friends wallet! i saw her count it myself right before we headed out for breakfast! Sad part is she took it out to tip them before we went to check out! The managment told us we can call the police if we want but would not allow us to use their phone to do so...! Obviously we're from out of the country so how can we call if they won't help us? Everyone started acting weird and one of us also got a weird text asking if our name was "XXX" just like ELLE D. Stated in her review. I am seriously frightened for anyone staying at this hotel. Although it was just money, it could be something much worse next time! Please beware! read more

This has become my favorite spot to sit on the beach in Tulum! The service, food, and drinks have all been excellent. The chairs are comfortable, there's both shade and sun, free WiFi, clean bathrooms, tables in between longers to put your stuff on, and no minimum consumption (at least when we went November 2019). They just ask that you order food and drinks and you can stay for as long as you wish. We've been twice now and in addition to beers, which come in an ice bucket so they don't get warm, we've also had the mezcal Marg and ceviche...both excellent. This is a nice quiet spot with some chill music playing in the background. Will definitely recommend this place to all my friends that plan to visit Tulum. read more

I had a fantastic stay for five nights at Villas las Estrellas. Right on the beach, the room was clean, A/C was cold, mini-fridge worked, pool was clean. The service was phenomenal, everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel strip where this is located has lots of clubs at night, and this hotel has one next to it, but they are quiet on weeknights. Every other restaurant/club has music BLARING deep into the morning, but this hotel was actually quiet on weeknights. I slept to the sound of waves every night except Sunday. Located right in the heart of the hotel strip in Tulum, a short walk to everything there and a short drive to all Tulum has to offer. read more

They are asking us to pay for the "extra" water as they only provided one bottle per guest: This hotel is way overpriced for wha it is...... The pool sucks period. The restaurant is open only until 7pm The breakfast offered is terrible! Thank god there are great restaurants neighboring this over priced outdated boutique hotel. Thank god other hotels offer bikes, yoga, nice spas and these hotels are half the price. I think this place has potential I hear it was really great years ago. Has the tulum vibe but needs work! This place is heaven on earth. Run by Italian management, you can definitely feel a touch of Europe in everything you see from decor to food and most importantly service. It's that unexplainable feeling of when you're laying on the beach, thinking of a mojito, and one of the waiters approaches you to offer you a drink. No wait, no stress and simply an amazing atmosphere. My wife and I are regulars here and we have not found a better place in all of Caribbean. read more

Do not waste your money here. There is all night music playing from nearby hotels and you will not sleep a wink. Even with heavy duty earplugs and a white noise machine, we were kept up past 5:30AM the first night we stayed here. When we asked for a refund for the remainder of our stay, we were denied. The suite we stayed in was right on top of the restaurant so diners could see right into your room and you could hear visitors and staff clearly until closing. read more
