It may look small from the outside, but it is actually quite commodious on the inside, and it also exudes a warm environment. The servers are quick to welcome guests, and they also speak English! Which is great because my German did not get me very far, but they still went ahead and tried to converse with me in German! (Good for practicing!) I had the lambrusco wine, and I am generally not a fan of wine, but this was really good! And it was a little over 4 Euros for 0,25L, not too bad. (: I also ordered the spaghetti with bacon and egg. The proportion was really good, and the price was only about 7,50 Euros. This DEFINITELY beats most Italian restaurants I have been to in California -- especially Olive Garden!! I really enjoyed my service and meal here. I may have to come back more often because it was that welcoming. (:

My husband and I ordered escargot as an appetizer. While I know, if prepared poorly, it can taste pretty bad, I've never tasted escargot like this. It was so hard and chewy, almost impossible to chew, and tasted literally like a combination of dirt, grass, and lemon. I thought to my self, heck, they messed up the escargot, it happens. Who could possibly care with such gorgeous scenery. After the whole escargot debacle, I was starving by the time our entrees arrived. My husband and I both ordered a pizza each. When we received them we noticed they both were lacking sauce. The literally had almost no pizza sauce! I'd never seen such a thing. I was so hungry that I just cut into it and started eating, hoping for the best. About four bites in I just couldn't eat any more of it. It was just pizza dough, a tiny bit of cheese and salami. It tasted horrible. Both my husband and I were so let down by the place that we immediately asked for the bill and left. Now, I don't know if it was just a bad night or what, but it was seriously the WORST food my husband and I have ever eaten at a restaurant.

She wanted to make me happy I guess, so she was willing, this time, to walk the long extra block for her food reward. Good food. That is what I can tell you about Cenacolo. It was mid-afternoon and not very busy. We sat inside near a warm pizza oven. I ordered a very good pizza. It had a nicely blistered crust, arugula, juicy cherry tomatoes, and cured meat. If anything would take away the absinthe blues this pizza was it. It began to work its magic. She was quite complementary of her Saltimbocca. This is good food here at Cenacolo. Not the sort of food I generally go for but something about well prepared Italian warms the soul and brings one back to life. It worked on me, maybe not while I was sitting there, but as I left I felt a bit less wrecked. Head down a side street off the main drag and discover something good. However the atmosphere where was good and it was nice to get wine from a carafe as you would expect to see in Italy. It was a shame that half way through the meal we were subjected to blaring Eros Ramazzotisome other customers complained and it was turned down, but it was a little unnecessary. There are certainly worse Italian restaurants in Berlin, but Trattoria Toscana did not really manage to offer a taste of Tuscony in Berlin. BTW: it was cash only!!
