A local hotel charges £20pp for a rather mediocre carvery lunch but that's another review! Aldo's restaurant is family owned/run which is obvious from the warmth of the welcome! It's a bit of an institution (in a v good way!) in the sleepy little village of Ardglass or at least it was sleepy on a cool wet spring Sunday. I started with deep fried Brie - if its on the menu I have to have it. I'm predictable what can I say?. This was served with a really nice plum sauce. The other half of me had a traditional prawn cocktail made with locally sourced prawns I had some and it was delicious. For our mains we both had irish sirloin with a chasseur sauce and selection of veg. The service was excellent the food was absolutely delicious and I don't think I'll be able to eat for a week! Too often we go to the same places for a carvery or sharing roast lunch when places like Aldo's have been doing it longer and if not better certainly as good as the rest! I'm making it my personal mission this year to go further afield and try different places. Watch this space for my (sometimes longwinded) musings. That's all for now

By far the best meal I've had since coming to Ireland! This is conveniently located in St. Ann's…read moresquare. We made a reservation here a couple days ago and were seated quickly. There is a 4 course meal option here where you can get a starter, a pasta, another main entree (+£5 if you get the steak and +£6 if you get the market special fish, which in this case was halibut and was delicious), and a dessert for £46. I got beef carpaccio, beef ragu with papardelle, lamb, and tiramisu + my friends ordered some different dishes so we could all try a little of everything. The food was absolutely amazing! Service was attentive + friendly! It's definitely not cheap, but if you're looking for a good "treat yo'self" option in Belfast, look no further than here!

Group of us got together to catch up and thought we would try Coppi. We had been here last year and…read morethey have since done a renovation. The place has comfortable seating, combination of booths and chairs. It's a very noisy place so if you're going with more than 2 or 3 people it will be difficult to have good conversations. We were well taken care of by several servers that kept water and drinks coming when requested. We started with the Focaccia with olive oil, Cerignola Olives, and Anchovy Toast, Stracciatella & Marinated Peppers. The starters were well received and everything was very good. We then placed our orders, too many to list here, but I had the pea and ham risotto and a companion had the gnocchi. It was requested that the gnocchi only have the tomato sauce but it arrived with the basil and cheese on top. The dish was okay but nothing spectacular. It was offered to remake it but we declined just for lack of time and holding up everyone's dinners. The pea and ham risotto had whole peas and several small slices of ham on it. This dish was like eating a plate of melted cheese with peas thrown in. It was hard to distinguish the risotto from anything else in the dish. The pistachios had a nice toasted flavor to them but the cheese just over powered everything else. Some of the other dishes ordered were the duck ragu (seemed well received), but the beef cheek dishes were not well received and had a number of comments that the quality and flavor wasn't there. From what we recall from last year not only was the restaurant renovated but so was the menu and I think we preferred the old menu. Not sure there will be a return visit if we come back to the city again.

Impressed. Seriously impressed. Yep, I'm a fan, and five stars it is…read more.. Well, I could just end there, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it? I need a bit of context, plus a whole lotta story to prove why Zucca is so deserving of the highest Yelp accolade...the five stars. From the outside looking in, Zucca doesn't look like a whole lot, and to be honest, we were going to pass it by because we didn't think it was open. Fortunately for us, one of the staff appeared and assured us that we could go on in. Phew. With only three tables, and not a huge amount of room, Zucca is probably better defined by its takeaway status, but due to the fact that we had a hop-along of a brother on this particular occasion (broken ankle bless him), we had to avail of the in-house eating facilities. For handiness, the menu is all scrawled out on a blackboard on the right hand wall, so we simply had a little look and told the waitress what we were after. We did have a while to wait, but since all the food is freshly prepared there, we didn't mind so much. Plus, when it did come, we were delighted by the decent portions, which were more than suffice to feed our growling tummies. The cheese and tomato ciabatta was delicious, and the wedges I ordered as a side were equally as tasty. Incredibly decent prices meant that the former was only £3.65, while the latter was £2.50, and let me tell you, I got a heck of a lot of wedges for my money. My sister had opted for the same, ordering chips instead of wedges, and my brother got a plateful of chips with everything he could possibly want on top of them. Our server really couldn't do enough for us. None of the three of us managed to finish everything, which was really rather sad, particularly as they have a rather good selection of Maud's ice-cream (sorry folks, just wasn't an option...I was fit to burst). However, we did feel that a) the food was incredibly good and b) the prices were certainly right, with absolutely no complaints at all. Furthermore, my brother informed us that his wife had nipped down a few night's previous to grab a pizza, which turned out to be a mighty good call. Sweet. I'm certainly well chuffed with this little find in Dromore, and was very surprised at just how good it was. Definitely recommended, if you should happen to be in Dromore. I'd just go out of my, personally...
