In desperate need of coffee and breakfast I stumbled in at 8.30am to what looked like an empty café. Little did I know lurking behind the counter was a lovely gent who talked me though his pastries. Now I'm not going to call him a liar but I'm just going to say that those muffins looked suspiciously bought in. So I settled on their version of a pasty. For those of you who have eaten one of these in front of me will know "pasty's repeat themselves on you" for the next 48 hours. Me choosing this was due to lack of selection and need for a speedy decision. It wasn't a mistake. This greasy pastry parcel filled with goats cheese, spinach and tomato did not disappoint, the coffee was hot, smooth and had caffeine in it and it cost me less that 4 quid. All in all a winner. I have to love this place, the breads really do look amazing in the window and during peak brunch/lunch time it's packed with yummy mummys. The atmosphere is like Chelsea has arrived in tooting, with deep wood flooring and polite staff. I know, I know you won't believe me but Tooting really is up and coming!

Sure, there's the standard Egg Mayo with Cress and a Pret Pickle and Smoked Salmon, but once you get past the standards, there are some really great sandwiches in that cooler. Try the Red Pepper Tapenade & Soft Cheese or the tasty Crunchy Humous Bloomer or even a Sweet Chilli Crayfish & Mango Bloomer. I really love their salads, especially the No Bread Crayfish & Avocado since I'm on a low carb eating regime. It's just.. delicious. As for the coffee, I find Pret to be better than the Starbuckses of the world. First, it's organic milk. And second, it's just better roasted. It always seems to taste better to me. Did I mention it's also inexpensive. Sandwich, drink and bag of chips (they have some very unique flavors) is under £8. There are a couple of Prets in the Canada Square shopping centre, but the ones I have patronized are all the same. Take-away only with no seating and no free wifi of their own. Which is fine because the Canada Square wifi usually works okay.

Well done…read more I am happy to say that, although I liked this place when it was it was take-away only, I rather love it now that we're allowed to come in and stay awhile. The interior is cozy and quaint; it doesn't hold an enormous amount of people, but I've never seen it completely full, either, so chances are you'd be able to snag a seat here, no problem. They also have a few tables and chairs outside, if that's your preference. During the lockdown, I fell in love with their toasties, (the avocado and halloumi toastie is amazeballs), but now that their full menu is back on, I had to rave some more about the sheer deliciousness of it all. While a bit more expensive than the smaller toasties, some of their more decadent options are definitely worth the price. My top 2 (thus far), are the Capuchin and Grivet. The Capuchin is a hefty portion of sweet potato hash topped with a perfectly-balanced mix of chorizo, seedless jalapeños, pomegranate seeds, a poached egg, and a side of sweet chili chutney. It may sound weird, but trust me it works. Crispy, sweet, salty, spicy... a symphony of flavors in your mouth. The Grivet is a smaller- yet no less filling- dish in the form of a breakfast sandwich filled with a generous serving of thick-cut bacon, poached egg, sweet chili chutney, finished with a slathering of creamy avocado, all wedged in between a soft brioche bun. It's a breakfast of champions, any time of the day. The rest of their menu still includes the old favorites, like pancakes & waffles, smoothies & cold-pressed juices, full breakfast plates, toasties, and of course, coffee & tea. And really, the service couldn't be better. It's the perfect neighborhood joint.

The eggs benedict was a decent portion size and satisfying on a cold winter day. A good selection of breakfast and lunch-type foods are available, and the atmosphere is friendly. The cafe is spacious, clean and I always try to make time to come here at least once a month.
