My very first doner was in north west Germany and this has set me on a path of enjoying many, many kebabs since. I recently had the best kebab of my life just outside a train station in Germany while waiting for a train to a castle. As you do. The problem with this particular branch is that it's always crazy busy. I really don't want to take a kebab back to the office. I'm meant to be on a weight loss programme. So I want to eat it in, and there's rarely a table free. I thought I spotted one today and went in, turned out it wasn't free. But a table I didn't see from the outside was. Then unexpected things started to happen. I was initially told that I could only get a take away, till the staff member also noticed the table and then it was fine. This was because they do table service. I didn't expect that. I ordered the regular doner as a meal, so it came with fries and a drink. It's an unusual set up for a kebab shop - there's a lot of staff, the kitchen can be seen from the seating area but is glassed off from the customers. The kitchen incidentally looks crazy clean for a kebab shop. So back to the table service. I didn't have to wait long, and the kebab was big. Supposedly I could have gone bigger, but I'm glad I didn't as I couldn't have managed it all. The fries were good, I liked that the soda came in a glass bottle (which they took the cap off at the table after bringing it to me) without a straw. But the kebab was the star. I tried some doner meat (beef rather than the usual lamb) and it was so thin that I probably could have seen through it if I'd held it up to the light. The seasoning was exactly how I remember from that train station kebab in Germany, and was the leanness of it all. Here comes the revelation - normally for British kebabs I end up picking the contents out of the pita because it never holds together and usually isn't of great quality. But the bread here is astonishingly good. It's crisp in the right places and keeps the fairly moist mixture of meat, salad and sauces intact without going soggy. This isn't the best kebab I've had. But it's a lot closer than Germany, and is close enough that I really don't care. I'd go as far as saying that it's annoyingly good, because I really am trying to look after my waistline and yet I want to eat this over and over again.

He says delivery will take between 30-40 minutes but it's never taken that long and it's even been delivered in 20 minutes (please bear in mind that we live 0.3 miles away - yes we're very lazy getting it delivered but why not take advantage of the free delivery?!). We have tried the Mixed Kebab which is very nice, but our usual order is regular Chicken or Lamb Shish for myself (£3.80 each) and the fiance, regular cod for his dad (£2.90) and Roast Chicken and Chips for his mum (£4.50), plus a large chips (£1.50). The chips are really lovely and the portions are good so this is plenty to share between the 4 of us. My fiance's mum is a very fussy eater (for example she doesn't like pasta even though she's never tried it!) so for her to say that the Roast Chicken and Chips from here is absolutely gorgeous is a real compliment! She says the chicken is really tender and juicy and not dry like some other take-aways. We have always found the kebabs to be excellent and we really like the salad that comes with it as it tastes fresh. They offer many things on their menu like burgers, chicken nuggets, scampi, pies and desserts so there is something for everyone. Minimum order for free delivery £8.00 (3 mile radius) Delivery times: 5pm till late Open 7 days a week from 12 noon till late

This site on Epsom's restaurant row…read moreof South Street has housed The Balti House for many years but Sadiqah has recently taken over Well, in this case, I can confirm that a phoenix has risen from the ashes. The Balti House had been an average Indian but Sadiqah is something special First impressions were good when my friend and I walked in - they've updated the decor into a bright, light dining room. The menu held some interesting dishes we hadn't seen before. Then, our waiter told us about the current special, which is on indefinitely - a starter, a main course (king prawn dishes extra cost), a side dish and rice or naan for £10.95. It was such good value that we actually left a generous tip at the end of our meal as we felt it was literally a steal The popaddoms came with pickles including a unique red onion chutney. My mango lassi was also thick and full of mango flavour We started with plates of mixed starters - paneer, samosa, onion bhaji, kebab, tandoori chicken. All were delicious and non greasy. The kebab was especially moreish, being moist and full of spices For mains, we went with the lamb shank and the crab masalla. The crab was the outstanding dish of the night - little balls packed full of crab in a sweet yoghurt sauce. The lamb shank could have been a tiny bit more tender but the sauce was full of depth and little chilli kick at the end. Aloo gobi completed our lineup of dishes. The naan was flaky and light. There wasn't a weak dish on the menu This has lept to the top of my favourite Indian restaurants in Epsom

We first visited with some friends a few months ago, but have returned almost weekly ever since. The restaurant itself is bright and welcoming, and the staff is always friendly, offering suggestions on new dishes, or joking with us when we order the usual. The standard Chicken Tikka Masala is my personal favourite, but the Balti is quite nice as well. Honestly, from starters to mains to vege, we haven't had a bad dish. Wednesday nights are the oddly named "banquet night" but it is a pretty solid deal. Small Cobra, starter, main, side, and rice or naan for £10.95. I believe they're also running a summer special of some kind throughout the rest of the summer as well. It's never been terribly busy any time we've visited, but I hope their fan base continues to grow. It would be a shame to lose our favourite restaurant in Epsom.
