The ale selection on tap was a little odd - I think 5 pale ales plus one amber ale, in December, with no dark ales at all but the Kernel export stout in bottles was delicious if a tad pricey. Apparently it's often on tap so keep an eye. The Christmas burger was incredibly good - the combination of camembert, cranberries and mustard mayo brought so many surprisingly complementary flavours and fundamentally the meat itself was fantastic. Best burger I've had in a while. I liked how there is a video games corner - a comfy sofa in front of a tv and you can borrow mario kart from the bar! There's also table football and pool and it got very noisy as competitive spirits rose, so caution if you're looking for somewhere really calm, but overall I'd love to come back here and will try to do so as unfortunately it's likely to close due to some horrible luxury micro flat development killing the only thing in the area that would actually service the tastes of the kind of people in the market for a luxury micro flat. Will be a real loss for Croydon if that happens.

I ordered a coffee and a water. I'm still waiting on the water. Looked at the food menu given to me by the waiter. 10 mins later I order the salt beef sandwich. Same waiter told me they didn't have any left. Why didn't he tell me what was unavailable at the start. Then he said have another sandwich (not in a nice way). At this point I asked for the coffee to go. Obviously that was too complicated and he brought it in a porcelain cup. This place is much better on the weekend

What Banstead has been missing…read more A thoughtfully considered, independent restaurant serving excellent meals from breakfast to dinner. The food is precisely what's been lacking in Banstead. Finally there's a real option to find quality meals that will hopefully draw locals and visitors alike, away from the chain restaurants and coffee bars that have taken over the high street in recent years. I imagine other independent restaurants are going to have to up their game to compete now too - here's to healthy competition raising standards. The cute interior design, with a contemporary Art Deco twist and mellow jazz playing at an unobtrusive level in the background creates a great atmosphere. If there's any criticism to be made it's that the drinks can take a while. We've been back 2 days running already and I'm sure we'll be back again.

So, we decided to get something for takeaway rather than wait. At the takeaway window the guy was disorganised and took a unnecessarily long time to take our order. Then when placing the order based on what was on the menu he said that changed. In this case a child's menu item that was supposed to come with hash browns. But it turns out it doesn't anymore. Then update your menu! So, he charged us for a side of hash browns. Then after getting the terrible service, from the dismissive guy working, they charged a service fee. Seriously? A 4.40 service fee for being slow and doing a terrible job. So my friend went to talk to the manager about the service charge and not providing items on the menu, the person he spoke to kept trying to dismiss him because they were "busy" and didn't have time to address his issue. Eventually he did get the service charge and hash browns refunded. After all this the breakfast burritos were ok at best. Large does not always equal good. And being busy is not an excuse for bad service.

The tea was good too! You get one cup of tea for complimentary. ;) i will go again for breakfast

If you're fond of Turkish, Greek and Italian cuisines, you're in luck…read more We ordered several dishes to share. The Halloumi salad (main) was lovely to look at as well as to consume. The cheese wasn't too rubbery and its saltiness contrasted well with a sweet balsamic syrup. I also enjoyed the additions of grapefruit and walnuts. Calamari is always a risky choice, but this one, happily, turned out crispy, fresh and tender. No tug of war here. Chips were a little too soft on the outside. But well cooked nonetheless. And courgette cakes were a little non descript. My friend enjoyed her generous helping of pesto linguine. It looked pretty, with flecks of green balanced with flashes of juicy cherry tomatoes. They dim the lights after a time and it gets rather romantic in the latter part of the evening. During daylight hours, having been before, it's also busy and chock full of local families. With so much choice, you'll be hard pressed not to find something to your taste. Go forth and try this exciting Mediterranean-inspired menu.

Me and my friend both went up to the bar and ordered our food and sat back to wait for it. My drink came quite quickly but it was about half an hour wait for our food. My friend went up to the bar and asked what was happening and they said there was a huge amount of tickets coming in and they were trying to get through them.. sok after a staff member came and said the food was on its way..we then waited another 5/10 minutes and our food finally arrived. The staff member whole brought the food over was very apologetic..The food was presented nice on little boards so had that rustic look and it tasted lovely. The brisket was soft and melted in the mouth, the fries was nice and crunchy unfortunately the little pot of gravy was water, oily and tasteless. I then went to the toliets and they were nicely decorated unfortunately some of the toilets were messy with tissue in the toliet and some on the floor.. shame they obviously dont check the toilets often, spoke to someone who came out of one of the toilets, and they said the toilet they were in was overflowing! Its a shame about the waiting time as i would have rated it a bit higher if it wasnt for that and i would have went back for the food as it did taste good but the time waiting is a bit off putting!!.

This place has fantastic helpful happy staff with a sense of humour coupled with great service. Clientele is varied from families, couples and friends. My friend had the energy boost smoothie in a trendy beaker and it was v good. I've been in here for cocktails with the girls and again the service is fab and the cocktails delish. I loved the espresso martini as good as you get. Miss this place when your in Sutton and you miss out. Xoxo
