I made a mistake, or two When my partner and I had last visited the cinema we were surprised by…read morethe price and the charming attendant at Stadium 4 Cinema Leongatha told us we should purchase the 'Cinematix' as we got a huge discount by purchasing 10 tickets up front. Presumably she did tell us we had a year to use them, I don't recall this. I probably didn't think at the time it would be hard to find another 5 films for us to see in a year despite the gap since we'd last seen a movie at the cinema! It's been a rather hectic year with illness and more and somehow we hadn't taken the opportunity to attend until Friday night. My partner was keen to see the new Tarantino release and asked where we'd put the book of tickets...went to the drawer, popped them in my bag and off we went. At the ticket box we exchanged two of our pre-purchased tickets for two printed tickets to our movie and after visiting the candy bar, were seated in cinema one awaiting the start of the movie when the young woman approached us in the dim light and advised our tickets were expired could we come outside to sort it out. At this point I didn't know the tickets had an expiry date and we'd already made the transaction and were in the cinema and it seemed ludicrous that at this point we were being asked to pay for two new tickets. I could barely believe it was more than a year since we'd last been in! After her explanation I asked to speak to the manager whom she had to call on the phone and after both she and then I spoke at length with him we'd agreed on several points. One of his explanations for the purpose of the tickets lead me to suggest that he ensure his staff when selling them describe them and the deal just as he'd done then as if it had been explained like that to me in the first place we wouldn't be in this situation. I certainly agree legally that by purchasing the book I had entered a contract and I was bound by the terms and conditions. It was my error at the time of purchase not to have read the terms before the purchase and certainly it was my fault not to have looked at them since. I just cannot grasp that I paid $115 for us to see one film. He repeated the policy and I repeated that he could choose to offer goodwill and he repeatedly told me he couldn't and that it wasn't fair to the customers doing the right thing. So I'm asking you, the public if you had paid full price for your ticket or if you had paid for a discount ticket and were using it according to the terms and conditions, would you feel slighted that we were seeing the same film as you on an expired ticket that we had paid for, would you think we were being unfair? I'm really curious. I was prepared to leave and I didn't have my purse but had trawled the car and was scrambling through the bottom of my bag for enough coin to pay for my partner's seat when he came out of the cinema to see what was going on so with his credit card he did pay for our seats. It leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth to have to throw out 8 paid for discount tickets for #Stadium4CinemaLeongatha #LeongathaCinema #mymistake #customerservice #whereisthegoodwill #whatdoyouthink? #Imawally!
