We came in town today from Michigan, rode to young's dairy farm and managed to bend my front tire frame. Wobbling back to Village Cyclery and Mike trued my tire, taught me how to say Xenia, and was just a super friendly guy. Want to start by saying I do not know too much about bikes, and I am a novice at best. I called ahead and the associate was very friendly and recommended I come in to test some things out and size me up with the proper frame. When I arrived I was greeted by Mike who was the same guy I spoke with over the phone. He was very straightforward but also elaborated when answering my questions. I was also impressed by his ability to help me with sincerity while also attending to other customers with no issues, not something you see often when people are working by themselves. After test riding the bike he recommended (twice) I asked about a few accessories to add on, some cosmetic and others for fitment. Mike offered great reasoning behind his suggestions and did not try selling me something overly expensive or extra that wouldn't be necessary for my style of riding. Really felt like he was trying to help me find a bike I would be able to enjoy fully. Overall I had a great experience and will definitely utilize this shop with any biking needs moving forward. In Yellow Springs there used to be two bike shops and service used to be better. Now there is no competition and unless you want to drive out of town, you must use this shop for bike repairs. I think they are knowledgeable about bikes but the complaint I have is they do not show up for their own business hours. They have a website with hours and phone number, but they will come in late or will close up shop for several hours in the middle of the day with no notice of when they will be back. Calling their number for information does no good, as they leave no message and they deactivate their voice mail. Yellow Springs--you need a second bike shop! A little competition goes a long way! read more

This is absolutely the place to purchase or take your bike for repair!! Every time I have stopped in, they take the time to greet you and are very knowledgeable. This last week, I called to make an appointment for repair, and the gentleman said to just bring it in and I might have to leave it. When I walked the bike in, he immediately put it up on the rack and fixed it, explaining along the way what he was doing and what other things I may need to have them do in the future. I was out within 15 minutes. So pleased with everything, especially since I had stopped at a bike repair in my own hometown and was ignored and made to feel as if I was bothering him! read more

Village Cyclery is a place I never would have gone to, but I had won a gift certificate to this shop and therefore went to claim it. At first, I wanted a road bike. Then, I realized road bikes cost bank. So, I went in thinking I'd get a ton of accessories. Things I wanted, needed, and things I could give the the bike co-op. So we drive the 45 minutes to Yellow Springs to VC. We walk in to the quaint shop and find they really don't have many accessories at all. This is not a Bikes R Us. This bike shop seems very repairs and new sales focused. Is a husband and wife owned operation and that's what made them shine. Good people doing good business in a relaxed atmosphere. They made our shopping experience so easy. They helped me choose a bike, find the right size bike, cut me a good deal with a trade, and really work with me to make me happy without me even bargaining. They just wanted to do right by a new customer. First off, they donated $200 to a non-profit who promotes daily physical activity to prevent cancer. Cool! They aren't afraid to support a cause they believe in. Second, they know bikes! Especially Trek bikes since they are an authorized Trek dealer. Third, they are prepared to repair your bike and if you buy a new one you get a year of service. Fourth, they have few used bikes, but they have one more after I'd been in there. I enjoyed supporting a neighborhood bike shop and chatting it up with some cool people. Successful trip! Shop recommended for bike repairs and new bikes. Plus free use of basic tools. read more

great service and knowledge about all types of biking. Last summer, I got started in mountain biking last year and everyone at the bike shop was helpful from giving me basic pointers to connecting me with local trails and clubs. They've also been very helpful in adjusting my bicycle for the riding I was doing and my body type from skinnier tires and aero bars for a 100 mile trip to a heftier back rim and bar ends for more urban riding. If you have time to get a used bike then stop in and tell them what you're looking for. They'll call if something comes in. read more

What a great shop! We stop on a beautiful Sunday with a problem on our bike. We were not expecting anyone to look at it at that time but the friendly gentleman behind the counter stop what he was doing and immediately put the bike on the rack and was able to affect a repair saving us a trip back. He did this with a friendly smile on his face explaining what the problem was. I would encourage anyone in the area to take the time to utilize this bike shop. read more

I drive the 25 minutes from downtown Dayton just because they treat me so well. Great locally run place that does repairs, new bike sales and bike accessories. I have taken by bike here for 5 years now to be repaired and they do an excellent job every time. They will find used parts when available to keep the cost of repairs down. The repairs are top notch, their prices are really affordable and they are always friendly and helpful, especially when I know nothing about bikes. read more

My family has been purchasing bicycles, and bicycle equipment, from Village Cyclery for almost 20 years or whenever my mother purchased a Trek "Mountain Track" 800 for my father as a Father Day's gift way back when... They seem to be a Trek dealer and the store's representatives are compassionate and versed about the sport of cycling along with the equipment they sell. Additionally, they are not out to gouge potential customers by attempting to sell them unnecessary items. Over the years my parents have purchased several bicycles from VC and I recently purchased a Trek "Kickster" for my nephew. I haven't biked since moving to the area and I had always simply gone with a mountain bike. After stopping in one weekend I explained what I was looking for and was quickly impressed with the knowledge base of the workers at this shop. I learned that I am more of a road bike type of person considering I only go off road once in a blue moon. I left with a Trek FX 3. What a beautiful bike. I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed biking quite as much as I do now with this bike. This shop is well educated regarding their trade and not just looking to up-sell you. I left with a great bike and more knowledge than I could ever know what to do with. I also recently called in looking for a part, and they were quick to say that although they didn't have it they would order it for me if I so wanted. My experience has been exceptional up to this point. If you are looking for a new bike or just looking at your options I would recommend starting here.
