Had a bad experience on Father's Day with a long wait, but knew it was busy. Our two year old daughter wanted pancakes today and so we decided to give it another try. We got seated almost immediately, maybe 10 tables were seated, and we sat down to wait for our drink order. After 20 minutes of entertaining our daughter, a diaper change, and waiting patiently, no one had come to take our drink order. During this time, a party of 3 was seated, ordered their drinks, were served, and then their food order was taken. We ended up walking out and we will not return, I do not recommend. read more

I ordered a club sandwich. When it came to me, the toast was black it was so burnt and there was no turkey on it. I also ordered pepper jack cheese, and the cheese was Swiss cheese. There was no Mayo on it either. When I called the waitress over she had the manager then come the manager said that the waitress was aware that they were out of turkey. That's why it was all ham and no turkey. Manager then brought out another club sandwich after waiting about 20 minutes and obviously no turkey as she had said they were out. Great food. They have a good variety to choose from. The food always tastes good. The decor is very good and modern. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not sure what's going on here besides poor management and supervision. The entire staff was in the back cackling while we waited 20 minutes to order drinks and then another 10-15 to get food ordered! The restaurant is not packed this is terrible! I can see why business is slow, we will not be coming back anytime soon! We normally eat here most weekends with the family after service, what a let down! Brought the in-laws for lunch today, they weren't impressed either hence what prompted the post! We waited for our table for 15 minutes. We sat at our table and waited for our food for another 1 hour and 15 minutes. Finally the food showed up The pancakes were not even warm. The ham bacon and sausage was good. The hash browns were ok. The eggs were ok. There was a lot of food on the floor. Very noisy place. Ambiance was just not good. The waitress worked hard and she had her hands full. I believe that they were short staffed. Unfortunate for customers to have to wait for better service. Manager should have backup plan if other staff does not show up for work or have a medical problem such as a toothache. The receptionist should've told us the wait time for the table is 10-15 minutes BUT the wait time for the food is another 1 hour and 15 minutes. People expect a reasonable amount of time to actually eat the food. This is not the way to manage a restaurant. I'll probably go back as long as someone else pays the bill and I have 2-3 hours of weekend free time just to wait and eat. My bill was over 100.00 with a 20% tip for the poor waitress! My boyfriend and I were visiting family and we drove all the way from Florida. We got sat down by the manager I believe, which he was very nice, but then he handed us off to a server who was very rude. I ordered a lemonade which tasted extremely tart and sour and after we got our drinks she asked if we were ready to order, i asked if we could have just a couple minutes and she replied with a very rude comment saying "okay fabulous" and rolled her eyes and walked away. we waited 20 minutes for her to come back to our table to get our food order. When she came back to take our food order, i was in the middle talking to her and she completely cut me off and ignored me to talk to another co-worker. She brought us our food and my boyfriends mashed potatoes were cold and she never re-filled our drinks. then never came back to our table to check on us and we had to go find and grab our own take out box. This is not the first time but it is the last time I will order a Pecan Pie from Vlillage Iinn. Yesterday, I went in and picked up a Pecan Pie. The waitress said it was 14.37, I said how come when I pick up a pie it's always a different price sometimes it's $9 sometimes it's $13 and it's always a pecan pie? No response, just that " disgruntled sigh" they give. When I got home eager to have a piece as I cut it it was liquidy, it was runny, it was watery ,it was just gross. Now, the previous time I got a pie there, it too was very runny. But, I have had great Pie from Village Inn, but the past year, it's horrible. Food is okay . They lost the best general manager they had . She worked there several years never got a weekend off when above and beyond on everything she did she not only did her job. This place is awesome. We don't eat much and are very picky because of medical issues. Most places give us a hard time about our needs but these guys actually split our plate in the kitchen before it got to the table without us even asking. We had a large party, we were seated quickly, hostess courteous. Our waitress was very good and responsive to our needs and checked back often. Food on the other hand not so good: I ordered the Nashville Scrambler and it was just ok, hash browns were burnt on outside and gummy on inside. A large group of 14 on a Sunday. Parking lot was full however we were accommodated quickly. Breakfast is served all day. There is a wide variety of selections. Our server was prompt. The coffee pots of the table were kept full. The servings were a decent size (large by Canadian standards). The atmosphere was comfortable. The place was very busy. We actually visited twice. The second visit I had an eggs benny and the eggs were overcooked. The french toast is a big hit and the skillet I had the first visit was very good. I would certainly eat here again. Went to Village Inn this morning for some much needed breakfast. My meal was fine. My friend's hashbrowns came with an extra gift: a neon green price tag cooked right into the center of her stack. She ate some of it by accident, realized her mistake, then rushed to the bathroom to throw up. Accidents happen. When we told the waitress what had happened, she was apologetic. Had she left it there it would have been fine. She followed the apology with telling us all the things that had ever fallen into the hashbrowns over time, including a swizzle stick. I believe this sentiment was stated with "If I had a dollar for everytime something was in the hasbrowns that shouldn't be..." Long story short, check your hashbrowns. read more

Our waitress approached our table a grand total of four times: 1) to introduce herself and take our drink orders; 2) to deliver our drinks and take our food orders; 3) to deliver our food and our check, in the process noting my drink was empty; 4) to refill my drink. There was no fifth time. She did not come back to check on us, did not ask how the food was, did not refill my drink a second time (and that was sorely desired, for reasons I will explain below)... we saw her reflection in a nearby window, where it was clear she was completely and totally occupied with cleaning the kitchen area for the duration of our stay. Regarding my drink... I was thirsty walking into the restaurant, but the reason I desperately wanted a second refill was due to the food. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs. When my meal was delivered, the outsides of the biscuits were warm, but the interior actually felt slightly cool - almost as if they had been put in the microwave. They were also extremely dry, and I found myself consuming fully a third of my glass just to swallow a bite. The gravy had little flavor. My appetite was gone quickly and I might have asked for a replacement if our waitress had ever returned. Or I might have asked for a slice of pie, but we'll never know now. This brings me to another point I find disturbing: we soon found ourselves the only remaining patrons in the restaurant, and not a single employee - we saw at least four others in the dining room - showed any interest in how we were doing, including the manager on duty. Instead they milled amongst themselves and gossiped while we waited for someone to check on us; by this time we were both done with our food and ready to leave, but we wanted carryout boxes. I estimate that at least fifteen minutes passed before I finally got up from my seat to pay the check. That sparked some interest from those gabbing employees. We made our dissatisfaction clear but were met with dismissive responses. We won't be going back for a good while. I recommend those who read this review don't go, either. read more

This place sucks! Service is SO SLOW!! I had chocolate chip pancakes and my boyfriend had blueberry pancakes. In both of them all the chips were in the center of the pancake, making it not so great. During our meal, there were at least 20 people waiting to be seated all from different parties. There were at least 8 empty, clean tables and these people were still not seated!! There were people eating who were telling the waitresses that someone should seat these people! It was so crazy. And to top it all off, the line to pay was at least 7ft long! Once we got to the front the manager started yelling at one of her employees because she accidentally gave her the wrong ticket! This bitch was the worst. She just kept running around telling people what to do and wasn't doing anything herself. We will not be back anytime soon. read more

The food at the Village Inn is good - no question. The service we received was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress took orders of people who were seated after us, it took 18 minutes to get water and coffee. When 30 minutes had passed, after ordering, I got the manager. In addition to the bad service we received, the silverware was dirty and someone had spilled a drink and the ice and liquid on the floor just sat there. The manager did check on our meal, got the ice cleaned up and got clean silverware. It took the waitress another 10+ minutes to bring the meal. She left the tickets and never checked on us again. Do yourself a favor and give this place a miss. While the food is good, it doesn't make up for the horrible service. read more
