Fabulous Maine flea market finds upcycled and mixed with a bit of Joanna Gaines/Fixer Upper goodness. I hope that does this shop justice. I could've purchased a dozen things but I kept looking and realizing "I love it because I already own it". The owner has an incredible eye there's a ton of variety. On the day I was there, she had lots of great furniture pieces (think side tables, small dining tables, small and medium sized dressers and sideboards, chairs, etc.), textiles (fun, new pillows, blankets etc.) and lots of functional/decorative pieces like containers (I found a great egg sorting bin identical to one I have sitting on my coffee table),old kitchen tools, lamps, ladders (hard NOT to buy one - she had a few!) and vintage-looking signs. She will open an oyster for you to reveal a stunning pearl which could be any hue of white, pink, or black. Wendy is one of the most creative people I know. She started pearls within mini, many years ago on her own, and now has her own shop. To open an oyster and see what surprises inside is one of the most exciting things to do. There is a backstory to the piece of birchbark that is shown in the final product. I was walking in the woods conversing with God, and this just happened to be on the ground. To me, it was a symbol of direction to the people I love up here in the state of Maine. To me, I saw the letter 'N' with an arrow going through it, which indicated to me that I had friends and loved ones up in the north... which is very true! The pearl and its shell came from Wendy's boutique. She opened a shell that my BFF Cathy chose for me from the bowl (totally a group effort) for me, and cleaned off the beautiful white pearl that was within. We then took the birch bark, shell, and the beautiful pearl and put together the framing container that you see here. I would certainly recommend visiting Wendy's boutique, Pearls Within, anytime that you are driving through the beautiful state of Maine on Route 302 or visit her website. My old cuffs hit the end of their service life and the folks at rogue were so kind as to make me a new pair randomly when I stopped in today. I had such a great experience there that I decided I needed a new wallet too before I left! Their gear is well made. The kind of solid feel that may be an heirloom someday. This isn't so much about the actual product as it is about the company itself. No snark, no hostility, just a frank opinion, which was less than glowing. It was never published on their site. That's just wrong. This calls into question the ethics of this company as a whole, their deceptive practice of only publishing reviews that promote their product is the height of cynical, self serving mentality lacking any ethical restraint....rather than offering a representative range of opinion and allowing the consumer the opportunity to decide for themselves which seem most relevant to them. Stay away. Not so much for the product itself, but the darker intent behind management's regrettable decision to censor legitimate opinion that they disagree with based on their own financial need.
