I am the OWNER OF A VILLAGE PARK HOME and CLOSED DEC 31, 2020.
Everything written here is the truth and I would raise my right hand in an official setting and say the same. DO NOT SIGN with VILLAGE PARK HOMES. You'll be more DISAPPOINTED than you ever imagined. 1 star is more than VPH deserves.
We've been TREATED POORLY since we signed the contract in Sept 2020. We lived 1,000 miles away at the time and worked with a realtor to purchase our new-build home. During the process our realtors were giving us updates on the progress of the home because Cathi Carrick (New Home Specialist) was giving us little to no updates. Our realtors were THREATENED WITH TRESPASSING even though they were on site during business hours. We had concerns and questions throughout the process and wanted to discuss them with the builder, we were told they DO NOT DO EXTRA MEETINGS.
Our closing was scheduled for 12/31/2020. After seeing the state of our home that week during our pre-close walkthrough and the long list of items that needed to be addressed, we were hesitant and asked to delay closing due to the house not being ready, which included items like ELECTRICAL CONCERNS FROM OUR INSPECTION, flooring install issues, asymmetrical trim work, etc. We were THREATENED WITH $100/DAY fine if we didn't close on VPHs schedule. We reluctantly closed after we were assured by the building manager and the sales manager that these items would be completed and to give them 30 days to give us a beautiful and satisfactory home. We arrived at the house after our closing, the KEYS the builder provided DIDN'T EVEN UNLOCK OUR HOME. We needed to go back north for 2 wks to move our belongings. VPH told us they would get new keys and give them to our realtors. This took them 1 week to do. Trades workers were in our closed-on home working while we were up north. When we arrived back to the house it was a complete disaster. They WASHED DRYWALL MUD DOWN OUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL, rinsed paint brushes in our master shower leaving PAINT ON THE TILE, paint all over our floor, we found our thermostats were turned up, our toilets were used and were completely disgusting, there was filth everywhere, and beer cans in our attic.
We have OUTSTANDING ITEMS, noted during our pre-close walkthrough (now 8 MONTHS AGO) that are still left undone.
1)Damaged garage door
2)New floor still needs to be installed. VPH has sent out the flooring contractors 3X and all stated the floor needs replacement. The crew showed up to do the new floor install over a month ago and stated they couldn't do it because they didn't know we were living in the home and they aren't able to install in an occupied home. The installers want us to completely move our items out of the home. VPH told us they won't provide the movers and that the flooring company needs to provide them. The flooring company told us they won't do that. A VPH former employee stated this will be very difficult logistically to schedule and coordinate in addition to finding us a place to live during the process which they suspect will take at least 5 days. This is all a huge inconvenience to everyone involved and we asked VPH for compensation for the original cost of the floor and we will do the repair. The request was denied by Angela Currall.
3)Our shower tile was poorly installed and isn't level. The contractor recommended replacement. VPH said they won't credit any money for this either.
4)We paid for Level 4 upgrade cabinets and we received Level 3. VPH refuses to correct this and is stating that we have Level 4 even though I have the pics to prove otherwise.
VPH provides every excuse as to why they are providing less than satisfactory service.
We have been BELITTLED, DISRESPECTED, AND LIED to throughout the majority of this process. It took me the better part of a year to write this as I was trying to give VPH time to do the right thing. read more
