I spent the summer flying for San Juan Airlines and I would often find myself on Orcas Island…read moreneeding to get some food. I frequented their soup and hot bar and I was always left satisfied. They had good options, ranging from ribs, corn dogs, orange chicken, and taquitos, as well as different soups. Unlike everywhere else on Orcas Island, the food here was always a good price ans didn't feel like expensive, "island pricing". I understand many people come here to shop and I can say that the grocery prices seemed to be comparable to prices you'd find on the mainland at Fred Meyer. The staff was always nice and friendly and the store itself was clean, well kept and organized. Sitting right in the heart of Eastsound makes it quite convenient as well. I definitely appreciated the sitting area to eat my food from the hot bar in the front of the store. My only major gripe was though they had wifi, no employee over my months of visiting was ever able to recall what the password was to access it which I found quite annoying. Otherwise, its a good store with a good hot bar for a quick lunch!

Very impressive little store full of tons of stuff! Groceries, pantry staples, a small produce section, some premade deli food and cookies. I was looking for the bakery items. A previous review mentioned delicious homemade pastries. Finally as I choose a cookie and a salad for later I see them. A small pedestal plate with pastries. And on the countertop behind the register tons of croissants! I said, there they are! The two ladies working were not impressed. I asked for the flavors and the lady said, there is a menu right there. Ugh, not fully awake I realized a line had formed behind me. This is the spot to go before getting in a ferry. The sign was not clearly visible and I felt overwhelmed with the decision so I quickly decided on a raspberry almond. This is clearly a place for locals. Their vegan, organic, etc selection is surprisingly expansive as well as reasonably priced and their bulk bin section is so well-organized. Veggies always look great and are high quality. It's nice having locally grown sprouts and mixed greens available as well. They even have some lovely locally produced soaps, salt, and other items if you're looking for good gifts. Employees are friendly and helpful, check-out lines usually move pretty quickly, most of the time there is ample parking, and the restrooms are clean.

The market is large and offers just about everything a grocery store could carry, including both indoor and outdoor machines for refills on spring water (a must on the island, particularly if you make your own coffee). Most impressive is the staff in the meat and fish department. They men and women working there always seem willing to answer questions about stock and are even happy to offer advice about preparing the day's fresh seafood. We've also been pleased with the entire staff. They're available and can point you to the right aisle when you're in a rush. The store can get busy, and when only a couple of checkout lines are open there's sometimes a good wait, but remember this is island time.

But, if you're in need of provisions, this is one of the few easily accessible (by boat) spots in the islands to stock up and be on your merry way.
