    Fish masala

So we were in Barcelona for 4 nights, and we ate at this Indian restaurant 2 nights in a row! I know I know, I can't believe we didn't enjoy more of the local food, but this Indian food was AMAZINGGGGGG. By far the best Indian food I've ever had! We stumbled upon here one night because it was next to our AirBnB and we were starving. So we decided to just give it a try. We ordered the fish masala and chicken kahari. OMG. Me and the BF both died when we took the first bite. Everything was delicious! The fish was super fresh and cooked perfectly, as was the chicken. The sauces were out of this world. It blew our minds that we had to come back the next night! LOL We ordered the fish masala again (because I loved it that much) and BF saw a chicken plate being served to another table, and just requested that by pointing. It was huge! The chicken was grilled but was incredibly tender and moist. We also ordered a side of garlic naan which was good. This is definitely a local joint. And I think most people that do come here get take out. There's not much of an atmosphere, but service was really friendly! And the prices are cheap! Village Tandoori has ruined Indian food for both of us, because we know that we'll never have anything as good as we had it here!

Wanted to try some Indian food in Barcelona and glad we came across this place…read more Very lovely aesthetic on the inside and they even Serve the food in those metal plates which was nice. Portion size itself was fairly decent and I'm glad we ordered just the right amount of food for the group. The Chicken Dal (chicken dhansak I think they called it) was very unique! First time I've had a dish that was chicken and dal together and it was really nice. First time I've had a dish that was chicken and all together and it was really nice especially with the jeera rice! Brother ordered the Butter Chicken and it was very flavorful as well. Loved the Chicken Tikka too! Lamb Rogan Josh actually came quite salty! Like it was unbelievably saw me so we told the server and they were quick to replace it. Even got us an extra dessert to make up at the end. Pudina Paratha was also quite nice! Flaky and just the right amount of flavor in there. Got the Gulab Jamun For dessert and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I usually feel they end up getting too sugary sweet but this was perfect! They brought us one on the house and now that we had two on the table one of them was notably different from the other. I think it was just that it was extremely hot! Like you actually had to blow on it and it would have burned your mouth if you didn't do that first. Overall very delicious!

With a name like Swagatam, it has to be good. So let's get swaggy!…read more If I'm being honest, we have not become converts of Spanish food. (Please, no hate! We're not big into seafood.) However, we have enjoyed some great pastries here-churros y chocolaté at CHOCOLATERÍA 1902 and napolitanas at La Malorquina in Madrid. After all that, we needed something spicy. The winner of the best food we've eaten in Spain so far is Swagatam! This little gem is tucked a ten-minute walk from La Perdrera and two doors down from our Airbnb. Swagatam really brought the spice! As you can see from the picture our meal came with four house-made sauces and two house-made seasoned salts. My wife fearing over-spicing, went with mild chicken curry. I ordered medium chicken curry and my daughter medium chicken tikka masala. All appropriately spicy. I was happy to kick mine up with sauce number 4. We really enjoyed our meal. Not only was the food delicious, the owner, Lal, has been the kindest person we met in Spain and Portugal so far. To be fair, he could top the nice list in any country. He's just a positive, happy dude with a great outlook and attitude. He is a friend to all. The service was great and the prices reasonable too. Great quality and presentation. He brought my wife and I a shot of limoncello (we had to politely turn down since we don't drink) and a mango lassi for our daughter when we had finished our meal. Lal is a gracious host, for sure. We recommend a meal at Swagatam the next time you are at the northwest end of the Passeig de Gràcia.

I had the chicken saag, lamb tikka masala and several other items. The youngest with me was 10 years of age and the eldest 48. We all enjoyed it. It does look shady walking up to it ona side alley and it's a lil tight when u peek inside but the service and food were tip top. The waiters spoke English and were hospitable and helpful.
