    Getting ready for the sunset!
    Armando C.

This review is for my recent trip taken In November of 2018. I am avid traveler and been to just about every place in Mexico. I had always heard about Puerto Escondido (my parents visited in 1995) and so I was intrigued. I decided to rent a villa with an ocean view for my parents and I for a period of a week.. This place and its access to the somewhat 'private beach' was incredibly nice. Our experience and time here was above and beyond our expectations. The on site-maintenance staff and daily housekeeping did an excellent job; and the front desk, working as Concierge, came through, as I treated my mom to a massage. Maria arrived as scheduled and made my mom's time extra special! The on site restaurant, Espadin, give this place an extra touch. Incredible views with delicious food! Looking forward to coming here again, as Puerto Escondido has become my favorite destination in Mexico.

You cant beat the view and a top tier staff. I dont even want to write this because it's such a hidden gem!

    Carrizalillo beach from lounge chair

We stayed for a week. I don't think there is a better location in Puerto Escondido. Amazing views from the balcony in our room of Playa Carrizalillo. There are 12 villas which can accommodate 2-6 guests. The staff is super friendly and were on top of every question and request. WiFi was weak so they brought a router to our room. It's 151 steps down a private entrance to the beach. From there you can rent a couple of padded chaise lounges and an umbrella (from one of several palapas who serve food and drinks) for 400 pesos per day You can rent a board, or take surf lessons or just chill and enjoy the waves. The villas have an adjacent restaurant (Espadin) and every raves about the sunset views. You get pretty much that same amazing view from the rooms. There are common area hammocks and lounge chairs as well as a small pool.

I stayed here 7 nights with family in the biggest villa they offer. We had an amazing time, the staff was really friendly, and nice. The hotel grounds were always kept clean and the view to Playa Carrizallilo is amazing!! The suite we had was a 3 bedroom, and 2.5 bathroom, one of the bedrooms was located downstairs and the other 2 upstairs. Full kitchen with fridge, dishes, water etc. Rinconada is a few min walk from the hotel, and they also call a taxi for you when needed. Everything was pretty close by, the market, restaurants and misc. Our stay was perfect, my kids even enjoyed the cats on the premises. We would def be back!!!

Wow that's all I can say as soon as I walked up into the restaurant. Espadin is the name of the place. The views are amazing. The food was excellent. We had the mar y tierra with rice and beans. Very delicious ribeyes and savory shrimp. Make reservations as it gets packed in the evening. Will be going back before we leave.

When we booked online, we were attracted by pictures of the Beach Club, which you access by a hotel truck shuttle. It is a nice setting, but it could be so much better. Our group had very bad service and the food/drink quality very bad (so unusual for Mexico). There were 2 very rude bar servers, who ignored us and our group, although they had no customers at the Bar. To add to the insult, the Pino Coladas were not delivered for 40 minutes AND were very very weak. Our friends experienced the same bad quality with their Mojitos. And they were very expensive drinks! The Beach Club is owned by the Hotel, and it appears they simply want to gouge everyone for maximum profit. For the rest of the week, we went to the Palapa Bar/Restaurants at Zicatella Beach and had fabulous drinks, food, service and a great time. We won't stay at this hotel again.

Puerto Angelito is a little fishing port in Puerto Escondido, AKA, "little Angel" fishing/boat port…read morethat also has a fabulous swimming beach. The Main restaurant "Puerto Angelito" sits at the top of a steep steep cliff, like a YUGE concrete fortress with steps going down the front, right to the edge of the water, on the beach. It's quite magnificent actually. Wild, natural, not a commercialized place, no AC, outdoor toilets etc., One day I was here, I literally walked down the steps & jumped into the water with my snorkeling gear on & right there under the sea water, in reaching distance, giant sea turtles were swimming about! Scared the jaheebazees out of me. Anyhoo, it's a fantastic place. A wild, natural, gorgeous beach & a equally fabulous restaurant. There are other smaller restaurants there but this is the main one on the cliff. The best one. If you walk down from town, it's quite a hike. And quite dangerous, as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are no guard rails or safety steps on the way, your on your on so be careful getting here on foot or just take a taxi. There is a long long long concrete stairway down the cliff, but it is very straight down stairs. You can also follow the road down if the stairs are too scary for you. An "Open Air" restaurant, come as you are. In your bikini no problemo. I spent the best thanksgiving I ever had in my life here in my bikini. They served us the freshest fish! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh. BEST THANKSGIVING DINNER EVER. We had a table right at the edge of the ocean. We swam, snorkeled, drank, ate & swam & drank & ate some more, all day long, wet, in our swimsuits. THE. BEST. DAY. EVER. The local fisherman drag their boats up on the beach after a morning of fishing every day. They bring the days fresh catch straight up to the restaurant. (See pics) You can get just about any kind of seafood here, the fresh fish & the octopus are my favorite as well as the shrimp quesadilla's with the local Oaxaca cheese. They also make a fabulous hot sauce with fresh habanero that I love. They also serve beer & wine & mezcal. The owners family make their own mezcal & it's very good. We drank tons of it. Haha. Good times. I spent just about every day here at the beach for 8 months straight & I never had one bad meal. My absolutely favorite dish is their octopus Tostadas. I ate them all over Puerto Escondido also, but they make the best octopus tostadas I have ever had. Puerto Angelito's octopus tostadas are to.die.4! Big chunky Tender octopus with just the right marinade! YUM! Can't wait to get back to have a plate full of them or two, in my bikini of course hahah. FYI: There is a little oyster farm a few miles down the coast, on Fridays, the fishing boats bring fresh oysters from there, here, to Puerto Angelito & shuck them fresh for you. You can get a couple doz for about $12 USD. Very good oysters. There are no "reservations" for tables & umbrellas on the beach. If you want a good table next to the ocean for the day, get there early. It's always nice to get there early & watch the place open, the place comes alive. It fills up quickly with locals & tourist alike, children running around having a blast. Photo ops everywhere. There are also little shops full of beachy stuff to purchase if you forgot your towel, swimsuit, toys etc., Two days are never the same here but it's always epic in every way. One of my favorite places on earth, my final destination. See you soon.
