I was trying to find a quality nail place for pedicures where they also have a good freehand nail art artist, as I enjoy having art on my big toes when getting my shellac pedis. Vin Beauty Nails on Woodward in Royal Oak had good reviews, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a small establishment, but the employees are very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. This was one of the best gel manicures I've gotten in a long time! It was so easy to make an appointment through yelp--I got a reply and confirmed appointment timr from the owner within 30 minutes. Everyone that I interacted with at the salon was very friendly (but not overly friendly so no forced small talk). She was also really gentle but very thorough with filing/shaping my nails and cuticle removal. The whole gel manicure took about 40 minutes (I didn't have any polish on beforehand). They had a huge selection of OPI, Gelish and CND gel colors. I also want to applaud the lack of TVs playing those awful day time talk shows that you find at a lot of nail salons. The people at this amazing nail salon saved me! I had a gel mani done at a different salon leading up to a photo shoot where my hands would be prominently featured. I was not satisfied with the quality of that first mani, so after looking online I came across Vin Beauty. They had great reviews, so I decided to give them a try. Every part of my experience here lived up to my expectation! They were able to get me in for an appointment with less than 24 hour notice, I was greeted quickly when I arrived, and a man started working on taking off the old polish. Once that was off, a lady started working on my new gel manicure. I told both the man and woman about what had happened the day before at the other salon, and they were so understanding about how important it is to feel confident in your nails. I'm from Arizona visiting and my nails were a hot mess so I looked at nail salons that were close with good ratings. Savin (I believe is the owner) responded to my email at 7AM asking her if she had any availability the same day. She said she could squeeze me in at 10AM. She was super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately a different customer came in with a nail problem so she moved me from her to an older lady to do my gel nails. Which I understand because it seemed like the customer with the nail emergency was someone who frequents there and I get nail emergencies so I wasn't too upset by this. Then as the elderly lady started shaping my nails she cut me / filed a little too hard to where she separated my skin. (Photo sort of shows the cut) then there were bubbles in the polish of one finger which I brought to her attention before curing in the lamp. She assured me as she added two more layers you wouldn't be able to see the bubbles. But after adding more layers I can still see the bubble she was nice though and was gentle around the finger where she cut me. I've had some experiences where some people forget they cut me and man handle my finger near the cut. I also liked that they had a huge selection of colors. Her attention to detail from politely asking and then digging out my painful ingrown nails to the amazing massage I wish had gone one forever. I'm not understanding the 5 start reviews. I called the previous day to make the appointment. I asked what a gel manicure costed as their website shows no prices and was quoted $35 by the guy who answered. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. They were very courteous and prompt by bringing me to the table where I was to get my nails done. There was only one other customer in the salon and several technicians sitting around. I found that odd considering it was a Saturday afternoon. No offer of water but not all salons do. I was greeted by my technician (Lily) She was nice but not overly friendly and very "let's get down to business"-which is something I appreciate. As she was foiling my nails she asked if I had picked out a color, and explained no as I just arrived literally 3 minutes prior. I'm given lots of nail color choices however, pretty hard to do that when nails are wrapped in foil and in too large plastic gloves. My manicure goes without incident or small talk which is great. I go to check out and the technician says the service is $40. I pay without causing a fuss and then leave a tip on Venmo. I continue to look around for a price listing of services and there is no one to found. Seems pretty crummy not to have a price list available on the website or at least in the shop. $40 for a plain regular gel manicure with no extras that look 25 minutes with no offer of water seems way too pricey. Next time I will go to a full salon spa for that price where I'm offered a glass of water or tea. I think many of the previous reviews are not real. read more

Took my chances trying this place out for a first timer. Overall it's a clean salon and they have a big selection of colors but the only reason I'm writing this review is because I felt like my tech (lyli) rushed a bit to finish me up and didn't take her time cutting my cuticles and pushing them up a bit more for a cleaner look. She didn't ask me if I liked the way my nails looked before she kept continuing. My white gel nail polish has dips in it and it feels sticky enough to where I get lint caught in it and always have to wash them off. I have been bouncing around from nail salon to nail salon for the last year. After switching from shellac to "dip powder", there was so much inconsistency in the quality of the finished product, waiting time, salons where the tech would be a no-show for my appointment, etc. So I was so thrilled with a co-worker recommended Savin and her crew at Beauty Nails and Spa. The shop is small but VERY clean; amazing selection of powders, shellac and traditional polishes and Savin (the owner) is charming and lovely and does incredibly high quality work. Everyone in the shop is so incredibly nice. I had Savin do a dip mani for me the day before I left for a 12 day trip to Europe. Well, that was 17 days ago and they still look perfect, other than the normal outgrowth at the bottom of the nail. My pedicure is now 23 days old and not a single chip!! They've also been so accommodating with my occasionally needing to change appointments at the last minute!
