This is the road you want when Highway 29 is jam packed during rush hour and busy tourist season…read more Be warned that Silverado Trail is starting to get very crowded and traffic backups are now more common than they used to be, but this is still a much more pleasant way to get around the valley by bypassing the crazy traffic on 29. If you can catch the trail on a lightly traveled day, you can take a leisurely drive next to gorgeous, sun-soaked vineyards and grapevines. There are tons of picture-perfect photo opportunities along this road. There are lots of very high quality wineries along the route too, most are open to the public (and benefit from less crowds)! A lot of the wineries require appointments to be sure to check before showing up to avoid disappointment.

This large rectangular park is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of the Napa city…read morelimits. It is basically a very large green space with three groves of trees that act as shady picnic spots. There is a very well designed children's play scape, basketball court, and a small softball backdrop. One thing I was surprised not to see was a trail that would run around the perimeter. However, there is a sidewalk that runs the length of one side of the park. The main picnic spot by the playscape is available to reserve for private parties. Parking along Douglas Avenue is the best option. There is a porta potty on site as well. Plenty of informative photos to get you here.

The Stanly Ranch Public trails aren't much, but are still worth a visit if you're nearby and…read morelooking for a new or quiet spot to get your steps in. The trails are located on Stanley Lane, immediately after turning off of 12. There is a small sign with a map of the area and regulations to welcome you to the trails. There are also a few small dirt areas carved out for parking at the entrance. There doesn't seem to be much foot traffic on the trail, so I've never had any issues finding parking. Just be mindful not to block the gates leading into the vineyards. The trail is paved, but not very well maintained, so the pavement is uneven and cracked. It begins as a relatively secluded trail with tall trees on either side, but glimpses of a vineyard to your right. You'll come up to a clearing pretty quickly, where you'll see a house and another trail map. At this point, the trail essentially becomes a sidewalk along Stanley Lane. At the time I visited in November of 2019, there wasn't really much to see. There were construction crews to the right of the path and all you can really see for awhile is dirt and the crews. I continued past this until I hit vineyards again, but only made it a little bit beyond before turning back. To this point from my parking spot and back was about 2.25 miles and I could have continued down this path (although I'm not sure how far.) The path is mostly flat but does have some very mild hills. It's a nice little spot to take a quick walk if you're in the area and get pretty close to some vineyards, although you can't get too close without crossing into private property. It is pretty secluded and you are unlikely to run into many people on the trail, but may encounter employees working at the vineyards or construction workers near the trail. When construction equipment isn't running, it is very quiet and peaceful. It is worth a visit if you're nearby, but I wouldn't make a special trip if you're not from the area.

There's also some other entry points on some side streets. There is a 48" wide paved 4/10ths of a mile trail that runs around the entire perimeter of this 10 acre park. There are four separate shady picnic table sites for groups complete with grills. On the property are also public bathrooms, a fountain, two baseball/softball backdrops and benches. The center of the park is basically one huge green space ringed by a variety of trees. Great spot for a family picnic or early morning walk. Plenty of informative photos/video to get you here.

This is a cute little gated in community park, right next to new technology high school. There were…read morenot any bathrooms that I could see, but there is a nice playground and good size grass area for the kids to run around. The playground looks like it could be for about two years And up. There are wood chips on the ground as opposed to sand. There is some graffiti on the equipment, but overall it's a nice park.

Perfect for kids who definitely enjoy it. The park is fenced in with limited entrances. That's great for ensuring kids don't easily wander off and that you can also see who is approaching. Several benches with a good view and I enjoyed one today to watch the park for a bit. If you're not familiar with the organization, Rotary International is a humanitarian service organization which brings together business and professional leaders in order to provide community service, promote integrity, and advance goodwill, peace, and understanding in the world. Nestled In a neighborhood just off of Dry Creek Rd, right by the much larger and grander Alston Park, is Vine Hill Park. It actually pretty large and has several amenities you would expect in a neighborhood park plus a few extras. The park is mostly open, unshaded grass but contains several amenities as well. The focal point of the park is the fairly well shaded play structure with slides, swings and ladders. This is great for young kids to get their ya yas out. There are conveniently shaded benches and a picnic area right by the play structure. Perfect for watching young ones. There's also a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a basic skate ramp, and a drinking fountain. After going to this park for years now, one of the most noticeable things about the park is how large it is but how little of it is developed or ever used. If you are looking for a big park with trails and a view - go to Alston Park. If you have young kids and want to get them out of the house, then this is your park.

The 12 hour long party aka the Dirty Dozen. If you're a fan of being active and sharing time…read morewalking or running, this may be the event for you. I signed up for the 6 hour version of the dirty dozen which is a 12 hour long endurance event hosted by Brazen race series. Participants are invited to create teams of up to 3 in visuals to take on completing laps on the designated course; teams with the most laps completed within the given time limit, are awarded prizes in their ranking order, the typical 1st through 3rd place. The event is well organized, well marked and well supported for the full duration, complete with plenty of food, music at the main exchange point/ staging area and a delicious meal at the end of your specific race. Participants bring in pop up tents, chairs and whatever you may need to feel comfortable while you wait for your turn as most participants are a part of a team and complete the 3, 6 or 12 hour event relay style. My friends and I signed up as we have friends in our running group who shared how much fun they had when they participated and they were not wrong. We were well supported with fuel for the course as they served a variety of traditional products like energy gels, energy chews and bananas but they also offered real food like pancakes in the morning, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fig newtons, salty treats oranges, water, energy drinks...the options seemed endless. When we were done with our six hour race, a beautiful catered lunch was served which included bbq meats, salads, cornbread Mac n cheese, lots of options of drinks, as well as chips, desserts including it's it ice cream sandwiches. The spread was the best I've ever seen as I'm used to running marathons and only being offered chocolate milk, a banana and maybe if we are lucky, an additional sponsor offer additional samples of products they want to promote to runners . This was amazing! The course was beautiful as it took you through some beautiful trails in a eucalyptus grove as well as waterfront views . When we were done, we were already talking about next year's plan. We are hooked and look forward to future events.

This community park is sectioned off into two parts. The main section consists of a baseball back…read morestop, large playscape and full basketball court complete with picnic tables and a grill. The other section sits on Culpepper Street right next to the Las Flores community center. You can park on either one of these streets to gain entry, there is no parking lot except at the community center. There is a wide paved trail that connects both sections that runs through the backyard fences of the local residents. The trail also splits off to Maher Street, a very short distance away, and leads you to a separate bike path. There are no public bathrooms here unless you use the community center. Basically a wise use of green space for the local community as the photos/video attached attest.
