You can both get a $5 mug here and an expensive Le Creuset French Oven here, with everything in between. The selection includes a lot of white dishware, Le Creuset cooking items, lobster-themed dishes and serverware, a huge selection of coffee mugs with very reasonable price tags on them, cooking utensils, kitchen appliances, napkins, tablecloths, you name it! The one (major) drawback to this store is that they are NOT WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE and have a large front step, as well as a tall flight of stairs inside. It would be nice if they put a doorbell by their entrance so that someone in a wheelchair requiring assistance could let the people at the register know to come to the front door. Even nicer would be if they got an inexpensive, foldable metal ramp off of Amazon to put out in order to accommodate their wheelchair-using would-be customers. However, they WILL help someone out at the front door if they notice you there. I give them a little more leeway than I would for a business off-island, because on Martha's Vineyard, there just aren't a lot of options for well-stocked, affordable kitchenware stores. There's not much else to say, other than the usual Martha's Vineyard caveat: call ahead to double-check their hours, especially in the off-season. This is an excellent store, and I recommend it to anyone looking for kitchenware or a little island kitsch on the Vineyard!

Not only does the team rock at this location, they also have a great selection of plants. They obviously don't have the space to offer as much as the Edgartown location but they make up for it with their service and can-do attitude!

I brought my mower to Jim because I didn't know of any other mechanics and I didn't care enough to look any up. Though conveniently placed in Tisbury and capable of fixing my equipment, I do not plan on using Jim's services again. He charged me $150 to clean the carburetor, which is too much. Cleaning a push mower carburetor is one hour's worth of work for someone skilled -- and I didn't know any better at the time -- but it should've costed 80 bucks at most and even that is expensive. I was a sucker and Jim played me. I brought the mower in Friday and Jim had it ready on Wednesday. The mower surged slightly when he gave it back but he said if I used premium gas that would go away. I haven't used the mower since I got it back so I do not know yet if it's all fixed up.

Batteries, beach towels, measuring cups, paint, trash cans, watering cans, you name it. They will make copies of your keys in just a few minutes. The ladies who work here are right out of Comedy Central. They never crack a smile but deliver some downright memorable one liners. The island gossip can all be heard here at Shirley's. The best place on the island for last minute mass-produced Halloween costumes. It's a lot cheaper buying light bulbs and dishtowels off island, but then you knew that already.
