The Club store that I experienced on my recent visit to Carmel was absolutely amazing, both in product and service. If you're looking to buy inexpensive clothing, this is not the place, nor do they make such claims. This creative, well made clothing is, in my opinion, quite fairly priced. Certainly a large selection of Robert Graham, a line that is not for everybody. But they have a wide variety of different lines, at different prices that are current, hip and great fitting. Otherwise, if IZOD is your preference, go elsewhere. The staff is top notch, and that's coming from a fellow retailer. They are friendly, extremely knowledgeable about their product lines and highly professional. Of course they want to make the sale. Isn't that what they are there for? But they certainly were not pushy or obnoxious about it and they were genuine and quite honest about their assessments. I actually was looking for an overcoat and found one elsewhere that was similar but less expensive. In the end, I went back to these fine folks at The Club to purchase their coat, just because they were such great people and such a pleasure to do business with. If you are male, visiting Carmel and have great taste in clothes, The Club should be your first stop. If your style is more "Dick Cheney Wear", save your money and hit your local mall once back from your trip. The Club is A+

I'm still not sure why. Also there was no indication that it was a Coach Outlet rather than a Coach Retail store, which I didn't figure out until I got home and read the Yelp reviews. The store was crowded with people and they had a ton of purses on display. I wanted to see a Chelsea 30 in brown suede, a bag I've been thinking about for a while, but they were sold out. I tried a similar bag but no go. I ended up buying a little Faye Shoulder Bag in the color chalk. The irritated sales associate got nicer the longer I spent in the store. The woman who rang me up was friendly and helpful. I haven't bought a Coach purse in over a decade, but I have to admit they are starting to appeal to me again.

I could have sworn the on-display bag i wanted to buy was a bit of a different color.. more reddish than the one they gave me when i went to buy. They said it was bc the display was out in the 'elements' and that my bag would also change colors. It sounds a bit far fetched but for the price i still love it. Hehe. So I went to Monterey today and did a little sight-seeing and lunch. While coming from Cannery Row back to parking, I caught a glimpse of this store, right near Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. "Hmm, imma check this one out." me thought. Lo and behold the scent of a thousand Vishnus! The moment I entered the store, the scent of incense hit me right away. Very very aromatic. Upon entrance, I saw a lot of Middle-Eastern fashioned clothing for women, mostly. A lot of colorful ethnic shoulder bags and knitted scarves. I was able to hold myself from asking the gentleman who seemed to be the owner, the price for one of the bags. It looked very colorful, with a unique design. I was pretty sure the people at work would think it was an ugly-looking bag BUT my Indian friends will definitely love it. Also, I ALMOST bought a belly-dancing skirt. First of all, I don't belly dance, second, even if I did, I had enough belly jelly to wiggle when I dance. The belly dancing skirts were 50% off...Holy Shiva! Om Rhythms was playing some kind of Hindu-trance music kinda. It blended so well with the smell of the incense. I walk towards the other end of the store and see that they have plenty of brass bowls. You know, the kind that produces this surround-sound ringing when sweeping pressure is applied around the rim. Alllllmost bought one for $130. They also have character figures of the Hindu gods and scented candles. They even have incense sticks that are cannabis-scented! I'm sure I didn't have the urge to buy that. So lots of ethnic clothes, ethnic jewelry (pretty!) and Hindu symbols, including Shiva and Vishnu. Brass bowls, bells, knitted items... The gentleman who was there was very calm and nice. When I walked into the store, I had to ask him what the store's name was (so I can check in at Yelp) and he said something like "omriddum"... I may have appeared perplexed although I said "Oh OK!" that's why he left shortly and brought back a business card. So nice! Prices of the goods vary from cheap to pricey. Had the brass bowls been between $20-$40, I might probably be ringing the whole neighborhood now. Those brass bowls are super keeeewl! The gentleman didn't even complain or say anything about how I lingered in the brass bowl area and not buy anything! With that said, I am surely coming back to this store. When I do, imma buy that bowl. Word.

A cashmere scarf I really wanted but I will wait for the end of the December sale. Unique and well made quality clothes. Things are pricey here! Speaking of sales... That is when I do my best shopping with J McLaughlin. Bought a cool blouse and tweed jacket yesterday. Summer and fall items that are gorgeous and on sale. Was not sure if I liked the small fit of the jacket so I ordered a medium and had it sent home so I can try. Easy returns via mail with no charge. The best thing about the Carmel store is the manager, Jessica! She is uber helpful and so sweet. She knows her clothing line also. That is why she is the manager :). I've heard great things about Lululemon men's pants so I decided to splurge and get myself a pair. The service was amazing. Every worker made sure I was well taken care of and were able to find the right sizes and everything. I couldn't be happier with the shopping experience. You get what you pay for and the quality is amazing. I love my Lululemon Pace Breaker shorts, now I have my new favorite pants (the ABC Classic pants).
