Depending on what you have and what your expectations are, it can be a great experience to change up your wardrobe "on the cheap" and "recycle" clothes without being wasteful. I heard about Bivio sometime ago, learning that the founder is from the US and conceptualized Bivio to mimic the stores I mentioned earlier in Milan. Customers are able to book buying appointments in advance (for Autumn/Winter this year, they opened up slots end of August, and they got booked immediately...). I wanted to see how the experience compared to stores back in the states, so I made appointments here and at the Gian Giacomo Mora spot... ...unfortunately, I was not impressed. I was quite disappointed that it was like every other thrift store in Milan (except maybe Humana Vintage...) in that the inventory was mostly "mid-to-high" designer and retail prices...that is not thrift anymore, that's ripping off customers. I also did not have success with selling. My items were "too light" for winter, even though I had a number of sweaters? Perhaps I should note I tend to run warm, and don't have many thick, heavy winter garments that the Italians wear in layers once winter hits! For me, a sweater is enough even at 10 degrees Celcius or 50 degress farenheit! For me, I'll pass on Bivio, and take advantage of thrifting in the States.

I liked how the store was spacious and clean, which allowed for good browsing. Prices were comparable, just translated into Euros... and if I weren't traveling for 2.5 additional weeks, I would've purchased some comfy items. The associates were friendly but not pushy and didn't follow me around which I liked. This store is easy to find - a few quick minutes from the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Will be back to shop the next time I'm in the city!

False Advertising I bought the shoes at their website and…read moregot a confirmation. After some time I sent a request to find out when it is getting shipped with no response. Couple days later they told me THEY MADE A MISTAKE LISTING THAT PRICE and THEY ARE OUT OF SIZE, and they refused to send the item, and told me the order is canceled-NEVER SENT ANYTHING PRIOR. When I said I want another size shipped, they refused to ship it. I didnt make up the price on their web site and sent myself a confirmation, THEY DID, therefore, they are extremely unprofessional and disrespectful towards the buyer. The worst experience ever!!!

The best find we had were scarves from Gianco Ferrere and Versace. These are authentic and actually made in Italy. They also carry ICE, Moschimo, etc. but be wary of the labels -- some are made in China (or labeled as P.O.C.) who wants to pay €80 for a "designer" label shirt that I can get on eBay?! Not me! You're required to leave big backpacks or purses at the lockers by the door. If you purchase accessories, ask for a nice box to put it in if you're gifting it to someone. They'll gladly oblige. Not only is their workmanship top notch, but their vibrant choice of colors makes wearing any article of clothing or shoes from this shop the equivalent of wearing a piece of artwork. Though I purchased my beautiful pair of San Lorenzo loafers in the USA, I stopped by this store, after having spent a tortorous week navigating the cobblestone streets of Rome, to see if they could touch up my shoes....after dropping my shoes off in the morning I returned to pick them up that afternoon and Berluti did such a good job treating my loafers they looked as though they were brand new. I insisted on paying and/or giving a tip for services rendered, but GianLuca absolutely refused to accept any money. Talk about customer service and making me a loyal customer going forward. When I do return to Italy and am in the market for a new pair of high end and eye catching shoes, it is good to know that shoes can be bought in Italy at a 20-25% discount to US prices and that is before the 12% VAT discount at the airport applies. Julian Kaye: "That's right." - The American Gigolo I've always been an Armani man. It goes back to High School days when I would peruse the pages of GQ for the latest on Richard Gere and Tyrese. To me, Armani was the most testosterone driven look for high fashion. Lately, I've been less picky as my hips get bigger lol. I'm actually more a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy nowadays. Incognito part of my wardrobe. Yet on the rare occasion I like to dress up, and yes, I do clean up rather well :P I was never the biggest fan of Versace as I considered most designs were just over the top and who wants to look like Derek Zoolander or Hansel, right? Having said that I'm a big fan of a deal and when I came across a Versace polo shirt in Black on Black. The sale price was like 75% off retail and who cares if it was so last season. Black will never be out of style, so yes, I picked up my first Versace and I admit I felt a jolt of Julian Kaye! The moral of the story? You don't need Haute Couture to look good, or feel good. It's about you. Personally I like to mix and match, and throw my feelings to the wind. And like I said earlier I'm a t-shirt and jeans guy, but damn that Versace sure feels good. Just once in awhile I like to En Vogue down the sidewalk.. be it in Kaka'ako or in Milan.. Ciao;)
