Good place for a quick, quiet chat with a loved one and a plate of oysters. However, I don't feel like lingering here so I'd move on after one glass of wine.
With light wood and big windows, there is a lot of natural light in the front room despite the fact that there is a tall building across the street. The back rooms are darker and more "hyggelig" if that is what you're looking for. The lady behind the counter was polite and knowledgable about the wines and I ended up getting a Pinot Noir that was almost a rosé and was therefore served slightly chilled. Most, if not all, of the wines are either organic or natural; so your friends who are sensitive to sulfites can find something to enjoy here as well.
I was in the mood for the oyster mix (3 pairs) but sadly there were only two kinds so I opted for that instead. There was a bit of a wait for some reason, but that gave us time to enjoy the decor. Very cute with the vintage tins on the shelf and mismatched chairs. When she eventually brought the oysters over, she apologized and revealed that there was only one type of oyster. I would have liked her to clarify that first, it's possible that I might not have wanted 6 of the same oyster. It came with pickled shallots and lemon and it was delicious!
Our discussion went on and unfortunately so did the oysters. I guess it is a laid back kind of place so I was expected to take the plate up to the counter myself. But there were only two other patrons besides us so I think it would have been nice if she took it anyway before it started stinking up the room.
Two glasses of Pinot Noir and 6 oysters will set you back 270 DKK, which is a decent price. But I can see why Vinhanen a few doors down is always so crowded and yet this place always has open seats. read more
