There were shoes and boots along one wall next to shelves with hats, many styles of hats. Plenty of dresses, skirts, jeans, t-shirts and I could keep going. I found a cute jumpsuit dress that was very reasonably priced. There is plenty here for both guys and gals and it's worth checking out.

A cute little thrift shop in downtown Victoria. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of…read morethrift, vintage, and consignment stores right in the central touristy area (thanks to the college students, I'm guessing). This volunteer-run shop is owned by the Victoria Cool Aid Society, which works to provide housing, temporary shelter, and health care for the homeless. The staff and customers seemed to know each other and were friendly and chatty as we browsed. The store isn't huge, but it has racks of men's and women's clothing, housewares, shoes, art, and books in the back. Everything seemed reasonably priced, especially the books, which were $1 or less! Sadly, we only had a few minutes to look around and (more to the point) didn't have any Canadian money on us, so we didn't purchase anything. But I'd definitely come back when I had more time to shop, as I'd like to support their mission. If you like thrifting and you're in central Victoria, it's worth a stop!

Dark woods with a squeak to 'em. Just the way I like stores that look like this to sound!…read more I tried. I really did. I looked over the American Apparel racks. I browsed through the guys stuff. I thumbed over a pretty cardigan. I wanted to buy... I had my credit cards out, but every time I went to, something told me not to. Perhaps it was the smell of incense in the air and in the fibers of the cardigan that didn't do it for me because I left without anything in hand, feeling a little blue. Like the incense had depressed my mood and stripped me of my favourite type of therapy - the retail variety.

Lovingly cared for, pre-owned clothing, shoes, bags, sunglasses, wallets, etc - for both men and women. This is THE go to place - to dress like you always fantasized about if you ever won the lottery! PRADA, GUCCI, ARMANI, BURBERRY, CALVIN KLEIN, etc.....Only you will know how little you paid! People always ask me why I dress in such expensive clothing...my answer? Because I'm worth it! Whenever I felt at my lowest point at times in my life....because I didn't have much money....I always felt better after dressing up! After spending most of my life in the garment industry at one time or another....and knowing the markup on designer goods....I find it very hard to pay full retail. This place is my go to place! One word to sum up VERVE Fashion? VALUE. It's that simple. Spend $100. retail on something that cost $30 wholesale.....or spend $100. on something that originally cost $150. wholesale. $450. retail. ( and that's being conservative.....in some of the highest end boutique's in larger cities, the markup is even larger! ) I must also add that I love this store so much more since the new owner Margo and her doggie Max ( he's in charge of greeting the customers! ) took over running the store! She is warm, inviting, and very knowledgeable on everything to do with fashion. Drop in and take a look....trust me. You will be glad you did!

Verve is a nice store to browse in, but if you're looking to consign, go elsewhere!…read more While the staff is mostly friendly, the owner is a slightly passive/aggressive baby boomer who doesn't look you in eye and shifts nervously when holding a conversation. She is more than a little defensive & appears disorganized when it comes to the details of her own business. I've attempted to use her service, consigning hi-end designers such as Dolce Gabbana, Ferragamo, Manolo Blahnik, and Prada, but it has become clear to me she doesn't value the consignor, in other words, the person who is paying her rent. The consignment business is meant to be symbiotic NOT neurotic.
