First visit to this church attending a requiem Mass for a dear friend of mine…read more This is one of the most beautiful Catholic churches I have seen in the Greater Los Angeles area. The religious art, pews and stained glass give a definite throwback to traditional churches. There are several large video screens that give parishioners or visitors a view of the Mass. The area where the Deacon/Cantor and pianist were located had a very nice sound system and the parts of the Mass are projected onto the video screens. Technology enhanced the Mass and didn't distract from it at all. Very beautiful house of worship. I noticed the Parish property extends across the street with a hall and a school campus. I did not visit these areas. On a personal note: Parking was challenging for me. There was some accessible parking across the street. It was slightly inclined and then two sets of stairs to get up to level of the church entrance.

His his wife Novia (behind every great man....)the work she does with kids! the time, the LOVE...her heart of hearts is golden and kind. She always gives to other people, she has been there for me no matter which way my life turns, she's always there she's never forsaken me, standing strongly by my side no matter what I need. She's remarkable I am so grateful to know them and be a part of BAYCITIES church. The first time I walked in the door I was nervous and I felt loved, accepted, a part of, a solid Christian Community. I now live on the island of Maui and unfortunately have not been able to find a church group that I can feel so loved accepted and part of, where I have guidance and support and love no matter what. I'll keep looking. Nothing will ever take the place of Bay Cities Community Church, it's so very special. If you've never been there you have to go and you'll never want to leave. Everybody showers you with love and the Holy Spirit surrounds them and you can feel it, it will surround you in that place. Jesus is there and he warms your heart through these beautiful people. Little did we know God blessed us with one literally right next door to our new home. We are so thankful to Gardena Valley Baptist Church, the pastors, staff and the children's ministry. The children's ministry have played a huge part in helping shaped our daughters lives from when they were infants to now (last year in high school). As parents it's so important to have a community that's there for support and partnering with us parents to help raise our future generations in the Lord. Our church has expanded and we've seen many changes throughout the years but one thing is certain, our God is moving mightily in our church. He is moving in the hearts of His people. We pray for revival not just in our church but for all over the world. May we pray to have eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to obey. May we as congregation be a church that love and serve others just as Christ loved us. May we seek and surrender to God's will in our lives. May we partner with the Holy Spirit allowing him to teach, lead and guide us each day to live in obedience as well as sharing the gospel boldly with those he's put in our paths. His vision for helping our congregation change from the inside out is making a difference in the lives of people in our congregation. Rather than having individuals just focus on changing behaviors or to do "good works", he is encouraging us to spend daily quality time with God, reading His Word and talking with Him. The overflow of that deepening, intimate relationship and love for God is the impetus for wanting to please Him and to live out our faith. We are so blessed to not only have a pastoral staff who inspire us through wonderful Biblical teaching, but who encourage us to use our spiritual gifts to serve one another and work together with us to build up the body of Christ. Whatever your life stage, this is a place where you can find connection and support. We are so fortunate to be an intergenerational church. The older generation have great wisdom and experience to share with those younger and the younger have new ideas and energy to benefit the body at GVBC. They have an excellent Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, a growing College/Young adult group, and Women's Ministry. Their Re-Engage program supports married couples whether you are newly married or have been married for a long time. They also offer community small groups for all life stages that meet weekly to learn together as well as to get prayer and support. (These are key opportunities to translate what we hear on Sunday mornings into how we live our everyday lives at home, at school, with our families, friends and at church). GVBC does their best to balance nurturing their church family while also not forgetting to focus outward as well. They try to share God's love by doing outreach and loving their local community as well as supporting those who are doing the same thing overseas. The "Fun with Friends" or the "Prime Timers" (senior) group utilize their gift of hospitality to plan social events where you can meet new people and can invite your friends to have fun and do the same. GVBC is not a perfect church because a perfect church does not exist. We are imperfect people, who are redeemed by God's incredible grace and mercy, and empowered by His Spirit to share that love with others. We make mistakes, but hopefully, we can learn from them, and then humbly move forward.

The community here is also super close and friendly! A lot of great brothers and sisters who love the Lord and love people! We also learn boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu together at church every week and its been super fun living life together. If you're looking for a church, I'd highly recommend checking Arise out!!

It's sometimes hard getting plugged in. (not because we haters, but a lot of us are busy helping out with children's ministry and youth ministry, that we find it hard sometimes to make time to fellowship with other English Ministry members.) But this I promise. Once your in.... you'll never want out. TRUST ME. I've been going here all my life and I never want outz...ever. And we're not racist or anything, but since our ministry is under a Korean church, there are more Koreans, ethnicity wise, then any other race. But we welcome EVERYONE who wishes to get plugged into a church or even seeks to understand what God's all about! :O) I give it 5 stars not because we're the best church....but because we're probably gonna become the best church in the end. Genuine worship and intimate community…read more I don't get to go every Sunday, but the benefit of this church is that service starts at 1:30 p.m., which is conveniently in the afternoon for those of us that wake up later in the daytime. The worship band is talented, and the messages by the pastor are relevant and challenging regarding our daily walk as Christians. Recommend this church wholeheartedly if you're looking for great church and a great community to be a part of. You will be greeted and introduced to the majority of the people there within your first visit (and this is where I met my fiancee!)

I didn't know that a church can be this accepting and non judgmental of its people. I really believe that my spiritual growth would be much slower if we were not learning from Pastor Kevin! I am so glad that Pastor Kevin did our wedding ceremony (drove all the way to Ventura beach) and recently dedicated our baby. My husband and I feel connected to our Pastors (Pastor Kevin and Pastor Ruben) and all the wonderful people we have met here and now call our friends.

I came for the 1st time nearly 2 years ago completely faithless and broken. I left after my first visit filled with so much HOPE just from the music alone.
