Went to their estate sale that was listed on a estate sale website. The sale was in a large warehouse in downtown Frederick, and a bit difficult to find. My friend and I both found nice things that we liked. Many pieces were unmarked. However, we noticed that the prices were a bit "steep", and were confused by that. For example, ladies' sweaters were 20 and 30 dollars. These were basic sweaters, and not a super high end designer label, and used as well. I found a nice print, nothing fabulous, in a frame. When I approached the desk, I asked how much it was. I have similar prints in my home that I have found in antique shops in Boston for 10 or 20 dollars each. The woman said "$58". I started to laugh, and I said something to the fact that "are you kidding? that's high!". I seemed to have completely offended the woman, as she immediately lashed out at me and was totally rude. I was shocked, as I did not expect this horrible level of customer service from a salesperson or business owner. Even if she was angry, she should still remain professional. She was so verbally abusive, that I left, without purchasing a thing. Beware of this business! Nasty people. read more

I went to an estate sale today in Bethesda, a very rude woman kept yelling the name Deborah, an employee, and made offensive comments about an Asian couple in front of other guests. She just kept yelling and ordering her employees around like they were servants. When I gave her some feedback via square space this is what she responded with: "You don't understand what happened today and you should mind your own business. Your friend was racking threw the Xbox package and you were clueless about the earrings that you first wanted and then had me take off the ticket. I think you would do well to focus on your own short comings and not become so judgmental of others." My feedback sent via square space: Poor - Environment, Customer Service, Wait Time "Lots of yelling and racist statements about Asians and people of color." You purchased 1 item on September 20 I won't go to any other estate sales where this woman or her team is working. read more

Went to an estate sale organized by this company. The prices seemed high. We did our research based on the photos posted to the website and found the same items brand new on retail sites for the same price. When we asked if any deals could be made on those items where were told " i check all my prices on ebay and thats the price we use" thats great and all but clearly you they were not interested in selling anything. She was very rude, and confrontational. She also mentioned that people try to talk her down all of the time, if it was me i would take it as a hint that things are overpriced. so instead of making some money on an item she can now explain to the estate why she didn't sell anything! read more

I went to the estate sale listed on estate sale website. The staff was very friendly but the pricing seemed to be far from being reasonable. I could have bought many items on the Ebay for considerably less. After seeing the pattern of high pricing practices, I walked out empty handed. If I had to pay above the Ebay price, I might as well buy from Ebay which at least has 30 day return policy. Another person who walked out expressed dismay at seeing such high prices. I thought the idea of going to an estate sale was to find bargains and for the owner to get rid of everything in shortest time at a reasonable price. My Mother and I just left the estate sale by Vintage Merchant that was in Bethesda today on 1/31/15....The salespeople (woman and man opening door) were very rude. It was 20 degrees outside and although 4 people left the house (with very few people in the house) they would not let the 4 people waiting to get in the house in. The house was very empty compared to other estate sales that I have been to. I mentioned to the man at the door (who was very rude) that with it being 20 degrees outside they might want to offer anyone on the porch entry to wait in the empty foyer of the house. The man grunted at me and said nothing. The woman in the living room rudely told me that I could wait in my car...well the line was not long - one couple and us (my elderly mother and myself). So as to not park on the grass and be respectful of neighbors we parked down the street with no view of the front door...Her request was then repeated rudely to me..."I said you could wait in your car!"...Wow I thought how very unprofessional. Having been to lots of estate sales all over DC/MD/VA...never been treated so rudely. I wish I could not even give this company a star...it would be a "0". Usually estate people staff are so friendly and nice. It is usually something fun that my Mom and I enjoy doing together. Vintage Merchant if you do not enjoy your job...I suggest you find something else to do. If I were ever in need of estate sale professionals I would never hire you. read more

I was at the estate sale at Melody Lane, Bethesda. I liked two items there: a chandelier and a painting by Allen Cohen. The chandelier had a price tag of $400. The painting, however, didn't have one. I approached the desk and politely asked Colleen to verify the price of the painting. In 20 min Colleen informed me that the painting was $ 190 . She was very nice to give me a % 20 discount on the whole purchase which amounted to $ 565. I paid the quoted amount with my credit card, had a wonderful conversation with her and her colleagues about the artist and left the place with the purchase. Next morning when I came back to look at the other items, Colleen started yelling at me accusing me of intentionally removing the price tag from the painting and paying less than what the painting allegedly cost. Using quite colorful language she said that she would never sell me anything else and demanded that I leave. I found the entire situation unpleasant and humiliating. Not only was I wrongfully accused of engaging in deceitful actions, but also I was embarrassed by Colleen actions, who created a scene by yelling at me in the presence of other visitors. I have been using estate sales for at least 4 years now, and until that day I had always been treated with the utmost respect. This incident left me insulted and quite. read more
