This is our 3rd year our child has been attending Brentwood Montessori Academy. My husband was not…read moreconvinced going into our first year...He said one, maybe two years, but that definitely changed!. The first year, she started to write in cursive...The second year she moved into a new classroom and had several work stations, jobs, and an extra bonus of getting to go to violin class (with only paying a violin rental of $20 a month), and several extra curricular activities that we could add on after school (1 hour extra). Her teachers noticed after a few weeks she was behind on reading a little, and let us know promptly so we could get right on to ramping up her reading...She made a huge turn around! We love this environment of learning. We love that kids are able to be kids, but also learn lots of responsibility and independence. They get to go home and be a kid without loads of homework, although, you can request some learning sheets to be sent home. Now, in our choice to choose Montessori once again, for a 3rd year in 2020, we had a couple important requirements with our choice to go back. We already had an excellent experience so far, but the pandemic and how it was going to be handled at Montessori was key to us continuing. After reading their new policy, we saw that great efforts were made in making the children's environment as normal as possible. This was absolutely critical in us sending our daughter back. They had also placed common sense approaches for keeping kids and staff safe. Because the kids have separate work spaces where they do their individual work, they are already socially distanced. They do temperature checks where my child can be checked with her wrist. They also have hand sanitizing stations (my child is able to bring her organic sanitizer-90% ) and they take the time to keep things extra clean. They have a great system of separating rooms, in case of Covid exposure which really limits the amount of shut downs. This has been brilliant! We have seen the damaging effects of other overly strict policies in so many other surrounding schools (including a lot of depression, discouragement, and lack of learning) so we couldn't be more happy in the way they have handled this so far. Because she is able to go back to school, and not have us home school her, the teachers were able to recognize that she had a bit of a learning disability and we were able to immediately jump on that and get a tutor. One of her teachers actually took the time to educate herself better on her type of disability in order to understand and be able to serve her and some other kids with this issue even better. We would have never even known she had some issues. Now we can save her the heartache of losing her self confidence and falling behind. We highly support Jim Bernstorf and his highly compassionate & knowledgeable staff. We thank them so much for the way they teach the children. Thanks to them, our child can go to school in freedom. As Maria Montessori said, "Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and, when the grass of the meadows is damp with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning as it wakes every living creature that divides its day between walking and sleeping."

Autumn and Victoria are always happy to address all of our concerns,at any time. Chef Lynne is aware of his special dietary needs and are very supportive. We seen much improvement in our first son's behavior, learning and overall progress to excel moving further. We also love the daily reports & pictures we always receive to keep us updated during the day. The pics and bios of the teachers are a great way for parents to get to know the great qualifications of the teachers. The continental breakfast bar, cleanliness, and overall great energy definitely starts out our day and with much positivity. We decided to enroll our 2 year old and love the way he is already enjoying his overall experience. At first we we were nervous as new parents, but we now know our kids are in great hands!

The tuition is a teeny tiny bit pricier than other places but full time 7-6pm and breakfast for even the parents, as well as lunch and snacks for the kids. I gotta say, I'm super happy. Clean and good sized.

I noticed at a Girl Scout meeting my daughter and another student from Thales couldn't read nearly as well as their peers. I decided to have my daughter assessed independently, and we were shocked to learn she was testing below a kindergarten level (she was in 1st grade) in both reading and math. The lack of academic progress made sense once I actually saw how the classrooms are run. I substitute taught at the school several times and quickly realized that the "teachers" are not licensed educators. They simply stand there and read verbatim what a book tells them to say. They are untrained employees. They are literally just reading instructions out loud, not actually teaching the students. I immediately withdrew my kids. My daughter started second grade in the Williamson County public school system and was far behind. It took over two years of RTI, summer school, and private tutors just to get her caught up to her peers.

This is really an exceptional school for those looking for a truly classical curriculum. We have 8…read morechildren and most of them have attended Thales the last four years. The teaching method is very effective. All my children read at a high level with fantastic fluency. My children have a strong math foundation and an impressive breathe of historical knowledge. I know there is lot of negative comments about this school and the administration online, but it is unwarranted. There are many lovely families at Thales, the tuition is very affordable, the year round schedule is the absolute best, especially if you have wiggly boys (we have five) Homework is minimal. I suggest looking at the school and speaking to the personnel, it will speak for itself.

Tammy is so knowledgeable about academia and how to navigate to find the best school and learning environment for each child to be a successful student regardless of age! From a parent that has used her in many different aspects, Tammy is not only intelligent but children love her! Children tend to gravitate toward her, she really has a way of getting through to each child. She is a God send for parents to help them determine what is best for their child and also become a liaison between parent and school administration. Since she has so many years of experience from not only a teaching aspect but from the administration side of education, she is the perfect person to help guide not only the child and child's family she is trying to help, but the school or administration side to work together for the betterment of both the child's success and the success of the school. In the end it is a "Win Win" for both sides involved! Katie is such an understanding and compassionate person, who loves children. Since Katie's background and degrees are in education with special emphasis in special education, this allows her a special patience and understanding when dealing with children. I feel she has a unique way of explaining and instructing children that they really respond too. She has been helping tutor our son for several years now and has help him achieve success in all his academic studies. She has also help him with organizational and test taking skills. But even with all of that, my son just loves to share his thoughts and successes with Katie. She has help him want to push to be a better student and person. She has become like one of the family. I just can't say enough about Tammy, Katie and TG Learn!
