I didn't get out of the car and was ooohhh & ahhing from the window- look at the octopus! Husband saying get a picture of the biggest rooster for a friend! Oh yes- this was going to take more than a few minutes! Front, side and entire backyard was more than the eye could take in of garden do-dads and outdoor decor. THEN you walk inside- oh my goodness! Where to look- which direction to go! 3 feet into the store I knew I was buying presents for my daughter. I had to restrain myself so many times! I stuck to my initial instinct and bought some wrought iron hooks in wonderful designs- a lighthouse and an octopus! I may even mount them on wood for her as a special touch! There is large section in the back half of the house filled with books. Eclectic doesn't even cover it. The mind-boggling of how anyone person can have all of this stuff! I kinda hope it's more than one- but then all of them have the same pile it up mentality! Carve out some serious time and go enjoy treasure hunting in this gem of a store!

This place is filled with treasures and the owners are about as friendly as you'll ever find and if you find something you like and the odds are you will let your pocket full of sweaty cash help you negotiate a deal. I found a few pieces I knew I was taking home with me and I was hoping they wanted to sell them as bad as I wanted to buy them and at the end of the day I was loading them in my truck. There are some outstanding collectibles here and it's pretty apparent the owner has an eye for filling this shop full of things that's worth stopping in to look at. This is the type of shop I love to walk through, these types of places are becoming more rare everyday and it such a refreshing break from the "antique malls" filled with polished glass and locked displays. It is a tad dark inside and there are very narrow aisles between the "booths". They are filled to the brim with a mix of genuine antiques, collectibles, copies, and vintage as well as some newer items. We did a quick run through checking out prices on items our parents and grandparents used to own. Some of the things were crazy high. But others more reasonable. And we had to remember that we were in a tourist town, so there is that. It would be a great place to explore for an hour or so -- especially on a rainy day or just to take a break from the sun. They have a variety of items to choose from; including furniture, purses, clothes, hats, glasses, art work, cards, candles and more. I ended up buying an amazing spring/summer purse which is water resistant, durable, and fashionable. The extra kicker is a portion of the profits from the purse go back into a fund helping woman in underdeveloped parts of the worlds. The sales associates were helpful and charming. Parking was plentiful. Prices are a little high but there are certainly items that can fit into anyone's budget.

The buildings have such beautiful architecture. They have a courthouse, post office, and a hotel that were built over a hundred years ago. The Palace Saloon is Florida's oldest bar. There is also a lighthouse nearby the district. My favorite thing to do was to grab a cup of coffee and walk in and out of gift shops. I also took strolls along the seaport and watched the boats go by. If you want to know more about the area, you can visit the Amelia Island Museum of History to learn more about its history. For food, there are plenty of dining options within the historic district. I highly recommend eating at the Salty Pelican. The Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
