I have a fussy, reactive dog that truly doesn't like vets that she doesn't know. She's still peeing allllll over the place when she goes here, but she seems to like it--and I can see why. Pros: the staff is delightful, the vet seems to care about animals (yes, I've seen vets who don't), they can usually work you in. Cons: I wasn't a fan of them calling in meds--and trying to charge me for them--that I didn't ask for and that my dog didn't need. I am EXTREMELY conscious of my baby, and I never hesitate to pay whatever necessary for what she needs, but why did I nearly get charged for diarrhea medicine when she's never had that complaint with them? Also, parking is a bit of a chore. Overall, I think this is a reasonably priced vet with caring staff. I'd recommend--but watch what they charge you in case you also get hit by the "we see there is a fee for a medicine you didn't ask for" thing.

We chose Whitesburg because we were able to talk with Dr. Russell, be taken on a tour, and actually introduce our animals before they were seen. Within the first month of living in Huntsville our purebred Boston terrier began having some liver issues. The staff at Whitesburg were amazing at getting us in and caring for her. Dr. Russell took a conservative approach at her treatment (which I prefer!) and always offered detailed explanations. We also boarded our dogs here several times in the suite boarding. We trust the staff to give them lots of love and attention. Our other dog had never been boarded before and I was more anxious that he wouldn't do well. We were sent updates later on in the day to show they had settled in nicely. The only thing that prevents the 5 star is sometimes the telephone systems don't work quite as well- phone calls not getting through or phone calls getting dropped.

I visited Apollo for the last time today to pick up the ashes of my beloved cat, Jewel. The staff…read morewas kind, gentle, and professional as they have been every time for the last five years that I've had her treated her there. From our first visit to the very last a week and a half ago, Dr. McManus, Dr. Armes, and the entire staff exemplified kindness and professionalism. We had a long run with Apollo, including two bouts with cancer a couple of bad teeth, and a kidney issue that eventually ended our time together; as Dr. Armes explained, old age is not a disease. But thanks to the folks at Apollo, my furry best friend and I had years more together than we would have otherwise. They care for Jewel almost as much as I did, and the staff was always kind and sweet to my girl. When the last day came around, and it was time to end her suffering, they were incredibly compassionate and made both she and I as comfortable as possible. They gave me plenty of time with her as the medicine took effect, and helped me with the difficult end of life care decisions.
