Normally I would rate Virgin higher but they totally messed up my booking and then charged me to fix it. When I pointed out that they had made my booking to melbourne for while they had me booked to be in the USA they still said it was customer error, considering when I booked the seats AND that I also booked seats for my husband which were on the correct day I call bull on customer error. Ripping off loyal customers is not good business VA. The flight however was boarded quickly, arrived early and I was very comfortable, although I'm not sure why they booked me on a row with someone else when the flight was mostly empty but with an empty seat between us on a short hop flight it's not a huge drama. Flight crew was lovely and efficient. My cheese and crackers were tasty and the flight was a little to short to watch the movie I wanted to see on the free in flight entertainment but I was glad to be home. read more

I had 14 flights canceled by airlines because of Covid. 13 gave me cash refunds. Virgin is the only airline that refused! They hid behind the travel agency I used and tried to tell me it wasn't their decision. Now I have a voucher I don't want because they canceled the flight I did want. Imagine going to a car dealership, ordering a brand new car, paying for it, and just before you were going to pick it up having the car dealership call and say, "oh, we're sorry, we actually can't get you that car - but don't worry you can get another car in the future that has to be through us. We won't just give you your money back and let you choose to buy what you want." *My understanding (not 100% sure this is true) is that they hid behind possible bankruptcy to avoid having to give people cash refunds they were otherwise be required to give. Really Sir Richard? I assure you I will never patronize any of your companies ever again. read more

Virgin Australia Airline is in bigger crisis than last round of the $850 million equity raising by their chief executive John Borghetti. Mr. Borghetti's five-year transformation of the airline has obviously failed. It is no longer news that the company's balance sheet was overleveraged, its costs blew out and its cash flows have been consistently negative. Here is just one more example to warn the investors from my personal experience. I am also writing this review to find victims on this flight to join the class action law suit I will soon file to claim my damages caused by Virgin Australia's ill crisis management and pathetic customer service. My wife and my two kids took Virgin Australia Airlines flight VA8 from Los Angeles o Brisbane on 12/18/2016. Their luggages did not arrive and VA claims that due to LAX lodgistic error, non of the business class passengers' luggages got on that plane. After varification with LAX, they said it's either VA's internal or contractor error not theirs. Sure enough, the luggages should expect to get on the next flight and deliver to the passengers because life depending medicine, critical business presentation materials and valuable Christmas presents, just to name a few are all in the luggages. 2 days past. No calls initiated from VA for updates on where about all the luggages are. Serveral calls were made to VA's Brisbane head office and customer service rep said they are still trying to figuring and sorting the luggages. For heaven sake, all my daughter's spare special prescription allergy and asthma medications are all in the luggages. The customer service rep Ms. Han told me that they will reimburse us on the medication. Seriously? If anything happens, this is life and death matter rather than mere reimbursement. This crisis management SOP will take VA straight to BK court than save the company. If any passenger out there suffers the same problem as we do, please email me at cyberholics@gmail.com. I will like to pursue this matter legally on behalf of all victims both in the US and Australia. read more

Before I had ever visited an airport lounge, I had an idea of what one would be like. Ever since I've been a "business traveler" I've been largely disappointed in the offerings. You do get a quiet place with WiFi, power for your laptop, a cup of coffee or tea, and usually some sort of news on multiple television screens. Virgin has gone way beyond what everyone else has. Not only do you get the normal stuff listed above, but add on a nice coffee bar with a barrista making flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes, and just about anything else you could want. Don't eat breakfast before you leave home if you're planning on spending some time in the lounge. You'll want to have breakfast here. There's a really nice spread of various breads, eggs, bacon (traditional and American style), and more. The crumpets are fresh and very tasty, with some nice butter and jam. The cold cuts are delicious. Seriously, if you have the time, and the means, stop in. I was able to get in on my American Express Platinum card. I think a business class boarding pass will get you in as well, but check on that to be sure. If I were designing an airline's lounge, this is what I would have come up with, plus a bit more. OMG!!! What has happened to this airline?!!! This airline used to be the crown jewel (and the best kept secret vs. Qantas)!!! On my flight over from LA (to Brisbane) the food was terrible: -Small portion -Sea Bass was dry, tasteless and bland. -Airline crew paid little attention to me after serving my meal and didn't offer to setup my bedding. Yes...I'm flying Business Class (and yes, some of you might be saying I shouldn't complain about anything), but after spending my HARD earned money on this flight...I expected WAY more. On my flight home today to LA (from Brisbane) there was no indication or signage that I have to check-in via a different line because I'm flying into LA...so I waited in the wrong line. Ticket-Desk attendant directed me to the Emirates Lounge to wait for my flight (in 3hrs)...I walk there only to find it doesn't open until 530pm?!!...Doesn't the Desk Attendant know this? I will come back and tell you how my actual flight to LA goes, but, if you have the option... TAKE QANTAS!!! read more

The renovated Brisbane Virgin Lounge follows the great same style as the Melbourne flagship - which truly is the best lounge in the network. Brisbane is large and comfortable, quiet and well appointed. The lunch offerings were tasty and fresh, and the staff displayed the highest professionalism and friendliness. I have visited the Brisbane Lounge before, but this time really was a great experience. read more
Three out of five stars. I keep changing my mind about whether lounge membership is worth it. I guess whether you enjoy the lounge depends on what you are looking for. Lounge membership in general: - If you want a relaxing space to sit, this is the place. The food is simple and fresh, if limited. In the mornings there is fresh fruit, which is always a plus and of course, there is the bar. - It is relaxing compared to outside the rest of the airport and there are lots of places to sit and do work. - However, there is no way that this is worth the full amount of membership. It is in excess of $700 for the first year membership (Joining fee + annual fee), which is ridiculous. I got my membership through a deal for work for $300, which I think was an acceptable trade as I am traveling quite a lot this year. - If you're thinking "I'll save money because I won't have to buy food every time I'm at the airport", you're dreaming - there is no way you would (or even could!) spend the equivalent in membership ship on food outside of the lounge. - Keep in mind you have to be flying Virgin on the day in order to get into the lounge. Brisbane lounge: While it is very similar to the lounge in Melbourne (amenities, atmosphere, layout, chairs etc), the food in the Brisbane lounge is not as good as in the Melbourne lounge. This is to be expected, as Brisbane is a much smaller airport/destination but it's still irritating. The Melbourne lounge has the ingredients for hotdogs and wraps, which the Brisbane lounge just doesn't have. The food is still fresh and simple, of course, but there just isn't the same level of variation. Overall, it is a pleasant experience to be in the lounge and the food is always nice after traveling (as in I always just want simple food, like toast with lots of butter when I'm traveling) but it really depends how much you are willing to pay for comfy chairs, fewer crowds and food. read more

I'm extremely disappointed in Virgin Australia's customer service. I'm an American who was flying Virgin from Sydney to Bali last Monday, the 9th. First off, we never received any message that our flight was canceled, we only knew because of people telling us about the news/ being crazy and checking our flight every 5 minutes. Second, it took an hour on hold (86$ since we were foreigners) for virgin to tell us there's nothing they could do for us, since we booked through Priceline (who books directly through an airline nowadays)- That they could perhaps put us on a flight on Friday (it was Monday 11/9...Flights are still being canceled today 11/16- Americans can't get off from work without being fired for more than maybe a couple weeks.). Now home from holiday/ Bali (thanks to Garuda) Virgin will not do anything for us, will hardly even talk to us- no refund. We don't live in Australia nor have the time off to visit to use their only option of reimbursement towards a new ticket. I've been back and forth with virgin and Australia all day. One minute Virgin's saying "due to extenuating circumstances, refund given. But Priceline needs to submit for it." The next minute, priority services is saying refund is not an option. This has been the worst customer service I've ever received and I have been on flights all over the world. Is zero stars an option? read more
