We hired Scotty's Landscaping over the phone to do some pruning in our yard. We specifically told…read morethe owner that we wanted to walk him through the yard to show him exactly what we wanted done since he had never been here. We confirmed a date for a Wednesday. He showed up on Tuesday instead without letting us know. We were not home but he proceeded to scalp our shrubs and holly trees. When we arrived home, he was almost finished and we were horrified at what he and his workers had done. He cut off approximately 12 - 18 inches from the tops of the hollies that we were growing for privacy. Additionally, he cut all 12 of our daylily plants down to the ground, cut the bushes in front of the house almost to the ground at one point and did not even shape them so now they look like very short hedges instead of bushes. He chopped off about 18 - 24 inches from the top of a large butterfly bush that we were grooming into a tree. Plus every shrub on our property was cut back at least by one or two year's growth. We paid thousands of dollars for this landscaping and we were grooming all of it over these past three years. Now it's ruined because Scotty's Landscaping came onto our property when we weren't home and proceeded to scalp everything without discussing this with us. A simple phone call from him before he showed up could have avoided this disaster. We are heartsick over this.

Blocking the roof (tell you how big it was) for solar panels we wanted installed. I called quite a few companies. Some drastically more expensive than what was quoted but a few others that were cheaper than was quoted with Baum. While we as people generally navigate towards "cheaper is better", I don't think that would be the greatest approach to someone chopping a tree down with limbs that hang over your house. For me, picking someone whom I felt comfortable with and appears like they know where they're doing at a 'reasonable' price is what I was aiming for. When he came to do a quote he was very meticulous in his measurements, thought process, and explanation of what was to happen. I enjoyed the thorough detail and easy approach he took. My job was NOT easy. He had to: 1. Remove/re-install 2 fence panels 2. Remove/re-install a pergola. 3. Deal with the fact that was all looming over my 2 story house. In the end, I know I made the right decision. His work ethic, value, and craftsmanship are second to none. I would highly recommend going with Baum for tree cutting service. Also - when getting a quote - give them a call. They're more responsive versus Yelp. Nothing bad about it - just something I noticed.
