After so many years I tell myself that we are among his favorite patients, but it's probably how he makes all his patients feel. I like how I never feel rushed when I'm in the room with the doctor, and if I'm there for one specific issue, he asks me questions about other aspects of my health, ie. what else is going on? My son started with Dr Mike's brother Dr Jay at birth and continued until he aged out of going to a pediatrician (which was a surprisingly sad day for me!) and now he too is doing great with Dr Mike. My friend is 56, I am 32, so Dr. Patel sees and knows how to treat people of all ages. The raves I heard about him were all true. He's VERY personable, very funny, truly cares about my well being, and wants to make sure that I am taken care of as if I were a member of his own family. The ONLY thing I recommend is trying to avoid going in for simple things that can be handled over the phone. Their wait time can be astronomical, so if you have an appointment, allot yourself plenty of time to be there so that you're not rushed. This is a VERY busy office, so keep that in mind! This is weight loss meds that should be administered weekly. We already missed one week 2) They will tell you to come back every 3 months or less for "follow up" checks. And of course, to maximize profit. 3) Bloodwork is done in their clinic which is convenient, but would charge additional for what is supposed to be 100% covered by insurance. 4) Will charge $30 for no-show, but will not send a single reminder either via text or email or call. And you can't dispute these charges. I wish I could also charge them for all the 'no-updates' and 'no-callbacks'. Already looking for a new Primary Doctor. Sigh.

In fact, these documents had been hand delivered previously and the office lost them but instead of admitting their mistake, they took on an attitude that I was lying. We had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure they had those documents prior to the visit, so it was very troubling that not only did they not know where they were, but that they were so accusatory in their manner. The nurse that took us back for our well visit got nasty with us when we stated that our child needed a certain amount of shots for school and the nurse corrected us and we said that no, we think it's X amount and that's when her tone got very nasty. We didn't mean to offend her or question her credibility, we were mistaken & we said as much. Her tone never changed. The Dr. was nice enough, mostly you could tell she had a script to follow of things that she's supposed to say at every well checkup visit and it sounded forced. Could have done without the nutritional speech & what constitutes a "healthy snack" (been parenting for 27 yrs) but she was respectful of our child. The dr. got a little more animated when we declined a certain shot but in the end respected our decision after having us explain it, which was unnecessary. Overall, the Dr. was good, the nurse that gave the shots was good, the nurse (different from shot nurse) who took us back to the room was rude & front staff were condescending. Will be looking for a new practice.
