It has become a franchise chain. They will push their "Vision Source" products and services. I have been using the same contacts since high school and they have talked me into using theirs. To be fair, they are not bad contacts, although I do have issues with their products ripping on me. Dr. Kennedy sold his practice to them and he is pretty much retired. So pretty much not independent, despite what they say and what is on their website. Franchisees are still limited in what they do by the company.
I have tried their rebate system for their contact lenses and every year it has been a headache. Why is it so complicated? Take pictures of your boxes, Take pictures of your receipt and take a picture of your prescription. Why? Why can't this be handled by them? Why do I have to make an account, do all of that and wait for as of 5/15/20 5 months to have the "card" in my hand. BTW it was shipped on MAR 3rd, although I provided this info at the end of Jan. I would not mention this if it was just a "one-off" but it is consistent.
As far as the staff? They are good people and are friendly, I have no complaints about the Staff. But, to push their inferior products, with a convoluted rebate system (that will no doubt will go unclaimed by a majority of patients due to access to computers, the hassle, and their age) and downplaying other brands (you still can order them, but you would be better off ordering them somewhere else and they do not really mention it).
If you just need a check up, have to have glasses fixed, need fitted for contacts then they are a good place to go. But their mediocre products, convoluted rebate system and the fact that they are a franchise don't do it for me. Personally, I will be going to a truly independent optometrist in my community, keep more of the money local. read more
