We didn't know much about the place, expect for some reviews we had read online. He really wanted some new frames that 'didn't look like all the others.' Enter Discerning Eye. We arrived to a bustling shop and were greeted right away. This place is a feast for the eyes. So many beautiful frames to try on. Eclectic, funky, artsy, and unique describe what they have to offer. After a few minutes of browsing, Emily came over to assist us. She is awesome. She stayed with us during our entire visit. My husband tried on several different frames, asked lots of questions, and we were in and out in less than two hours. We never felt rushed while we were there, despite how busy they were. Frames are organized by designer. Bargain frames are in the basement. We intend to go back and check those out at some point. They had a trunk show going on the day we visited, so it was quite the overall experience. Snacks, CHAMPAGNE, and a prize basket (we received $30 off a pair of frames). I have an eye condition that she spent several weeks helping me with. She was recommended to me by a Dr. at the university. I can't say enough good things about her. Jackie helped me more in 6 weeks than anyone else had in 6 months. My condition isn't 100% resolved, but it has improved and is more manageable now. All staff I had interacted with at Roggy were very nice; from phone calls to in-person. They have a beautiful location and I wouldn't hesitate to call them for regular eye exams, etc. If you're looking for a new, trendy pair of frames, new provider or have specific eye conditions this is the place for you!

I have been coming here for my lenses. Last couple of pair are anything but scratch resistant despite paying the premium. They (now Elevate Eyecare) personalize the issue at the store, pushed back on my as a customer, repeatedly tried to go back on the warrantee. I had to get VSP engaged to get them to deliver. I tried to reach out to regional manager Christy, however she never returned my email. I have escalated within Elevate Eyecare but expectations are set low. I would advise NOT supporting Elevate Eyecare at any Iowa City location.

Jensen came up in several online searches, as well as being a eyecare center who accepts my insurance. I had a great experience from the time I entered Jensen to the time I left. Dr. Diaz is very friendly and has a sense of humor. He addressed some questions I had and got me all set-up with some products to try. I'm not sure if Dr. Diaz is a relief Dr. or on staff because he doesn't have a bio on Jensen's website. If you prefer to see a particular Dr. make sure to mention this when scheduling an appointment. I didn't have a preference. My entire visit lasted just under an hour. When I called to make an appointment, and due to my availability, they were 2-weeks or so out. Jensen does have extended business hours on Monday nights for individuals who have to schedule around jobs, etc. Very clean and inviting awaiting area. Recommend.
