if I could give this company a lower rating than 1, I certainly would. I have read other reviews stating that the nurses were rude and the company was subpar at best. I never even got the opportunity to even see a nurse! I was told they would call to schedule a time for a visit and that NEVER happened. I left a total of 6 messages requesting a call back and still nothing. I would not recommend this company at all and please do not use them. Awful, just awful. Big fat F for these guys. read more

The staff at hospice Atlanta is outstanding! My team that consist of nurse Susan and CNA Jackie is second to none! My mother is 101 and fell and broke her hip. She is now bedridden. Jackie comes 3 times a week to bathe her and surround her in caring comfort. We consider these 2 ladies part of the family! We love our caregivers! This place deserves a subzero for the quality of care and office experience. The company will promise patients great care but will give you hell. Several incidents occurred from 10/22 to 9/23 when they provided service. Many of the nurses are rude and nosy, and the doctor cares nothing about the patients. There were two horrific incidents that must be brought to light. First, the doctor prescribed anxiety meds for my mother's astronomically high blood pressure and I refused to continue with this course of medication nurse and doctor refused to add another b.p. med, but demanded I use an outside cardiologist. After the cardiology appointment, the nurse asked if was I paying for the visit since I went outside of hospice. She lied and denied that she demanded the appointment, but I showed her our text conversation and reminded her of the phone call we had with her office manager. I did not pay for the appointment. The final event was when my mother was hospitalized for a severe U.T.I. in September of 2023. My mom complained of stomach pains every day starting July 1, 2023. I told her nurse that I thought she was exhibiting symptoms of U.T.I., but I was ignored. Eventually, on September 11 she started bleeding heavily. I called the on-call nurse at 7 a.m. to ask for advice. She said she would inform the regular nurse who would call me shortly, but there was no call. I called her around 2 p.m. She said she didn't plan to call until she finished her field visits after 4 p.m. Shortly thereafter, she spoke with the doctor and he guessed she had vaginitis and suggested a random antibiotic. I requested a urine test so the treatment was targeted toward the correct diagnosis. The nurse was reluctant but finally agreed to come the next day. My mom started bleeding profusely that evening, so she was taken to the ER where she was TESTED, AND TREATED FOR A UTI! That was the final straw. read more

This company has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality. The clinical staff is excellent and well commended for the few visits my husband needed for his post surgical event. Here is the Mr. Hyde : Their billing staff is woefully incompetent. I am truly amazed they are still in business. We completed our time with this company and received our first bill. Paid and done. We thought our account was closed and would part ways, satisfied with the clinical services. However, we received a collections statement concerning a bill we did not pay. We called VNHS and was bounced around so many times within billing because they could not answer this simple question : "Were we sent a bill we did not pay?" After speaking to about four different people, the manager finally called to tell me they did NOT send another bill we needed to pay. THEY were the ones responsible for any type of impact on our immaculate credit scores. THEY were the incompetent ones. Manager was also concerned if we had good clinical services. I said yes. He immediately concluded that the clinical services more than made up for the billing error. I also asked for a copy of the mysteriously missing bill and was promised I would be sent one. It hasn't arrived. Caveat emptor. read more

I am really sorry that the previous reviewer had a bad experience at Hospice Atlanta. I had a family member there at roughly the same time her review was written (Fall 2013) and I can say our experience was 100% the opposite. The nurses and staff were caring, accommodating, friendly, and sensitive to the obviously delicate situation. The center itself is warm and friendly, with little nooks and sitting areas, a kitchen, a vast library with books, DVDs, & games, a beautiful chapel, and each guest suite has its own patio - large enough for the patient's bed to be rolled out in nice weather! They don't have specific visiting hours, and all ages (and species if the patient would like to see a pet) are encouraged to visit, as long as all are sensitive to the noise level. I can't imagine a better place for my loved one's final days. This experience ultimately inspired me to become a volunteer there. If you are at the point where you must consider hospice for someone you love, I highly recommend this facility and its amazing staff. read more

The only reason why I give more than one star is because the one visit we had was with a professional nurse. The company itself is far from professional as they were supposed to come over on a Sunday and when I called, I was told that someone called but since no one answered they didn't schedule us. Thankfully for caller ID I can see that they lied to me and someone probably didn't want to work on Sunday. read more

Visiting nurse promise to come out to our home within 48 hours after my husband was discharged from the hospital. After five days of not hearing from them I finally got a call. I told him that I wasn't sure if you ever done this before and they promptly said, OK we will not come. Then a week later my husband has to go back into the hospital with infection. This time I talk to a social worker at the hospital and she said oh I really need to use because it in yours because my Internet really is not gonna cover anybody else. My husband came home with a pick line and they were supposed to come and help me and first time and also administer the anabiotic's. I promise you I had to call them back them to please come help me because if they didn't I was gonna have to go to the hospital and have it done . Since then I've had to make several calls to just get them to come out and change the pick line bandage and also deal with the one that my husband is experiencing. There were a few nurses that were pretty good but they never showed back up. Every single nurse that came said you will get a call from a nurse and I put for the code to change your bandage or to take her blood work or whatever else we needed. That has never happened. I truly do not know how they stay in business because it is so stressful to try to beg them to come and give me to help I need not to mention the help that they promised to give me. read more

Evidently your nurse and her Mgr have a personal grudge because I expected the nurse to do her job according to the discharge instruction of the hospital. Your Mgr claims you are not going to return to administer the IV antibiotics today and/or do wound care but this morning the hospital called to inform us they were re-sent instructions to come by. You guys give home health care the worst name. Evidently your staff's personal issues dictate whether you give care or not. Home health care must be hiring the rejects of nurses unable to get gainful employment in a hospital setting I reckon. read more

We used this company last year and I'm just now getting around to reviewing them. My husband had emergency surgery and ended up with an ileostomy. He also had an open abdominal wound and a negative pressure wound vac. We saw perhaps 10-12 different nurses during the time we used their services, which was probably less than a month. Not one nurse knew the correct way to place/seal the wound vac. Some actually placed the "foam" ON TOP of the wound instead of within the wound bed. Even though I'd tell the nurse over and over again that this was incorrect placement and would cause a "hickey" on the intact skin, the nurses would still not take the time to cut the foam to fit inside the wound bed. They also were incapable of placing the tape so as to maintain an adequate seal. A wound vac without a good seal is worthless. And not one nurse, EVER, changed his ostomy pouch. Each and every one made some excuse about why they didn't or couldn't change the ostomy pouch. Basically, the nurses are worthless. I guess if all you need is someone to take your blood pressure and temp, then they are fine, but to do anything that requires even the slightest bit of intelligence, you should look elsewhere for a home nursing company. read more

At first this place was a Godsend. At the end I was ready to file a formal complaint. I never dreamed people in this line of work could treat a dying patient and family so shabbily. They did not give my Mother the baths that were promised and then lied about it. They let someone outside of the family call up and make changes to my Mother's care. Mother was told that she would have to leave her home and go die in a nunnery. They caused her to give up hope. At the bitter end we were forced to change hospice providers. Maybe it was just the nurse we had, but our experience with the next provider (Embracing Hospice) was totally different and 100% better. These people heaped a HUGE amount of pain and suffering on a dying woman and her family. Do not use them!!! read more

The more they can fit into their daily schedule the more money they can bring in to run this poorly ran company!! The nurses are good people, but do to pressure from the company, patients complain that all the nurses do is take blood pressures and are only in the home 10 minutes! They change CEO like they are changing socks! Each promising to make the company better to No Avail! The staff is treated poorly and moral is low! It's coming up on the 3 year anniversary of my wife's death. Of course, that brings back memories...good and bad. One bad memory I can't shake is our experience at Hospice Atlanta. She had a nice corner room with plenty of light. I received word that they wanted to move her to a different section that would have to be paid for privately. I'm sure this is a common hustle. I had to meet with a doctor who's exact words delivered in the most unsympathetic way possible were "we don't know how long she'll last...it could be another week." She couldn't have been less appropriate. Stephanie passed a few days later. She didn't have to move because I made a fuss. She was a kind person that devoted her life to teaching children. This company is awful. They were supposed to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy for my mother following a lengthy hospital stay. After 1 PT visits and being cleared by the occupational therapist (after 2 additional visits) the physical therapist never came back. And when she called finally she proceeded to bless us out for no reason. Saying she had tried to call us for 4 days... interesting since between us there are 3 phone numbers all with voice mail/answering machine. No messages no missed calls. She even threatened to have my mother "arrested for depression." Which only exists because she isn't getting the care she needs. In fact the only thing this PT has said that is correct is that she is a "poor planner..." We are in the process of finding out patient PT to help her instead. Avoid at all costs read more

This is the most unorganized, unprofessional service I have EVER tried to utilize. The office staff is horrible as well as the people in charge. They never show up on time ( and I do understand other patients can take longer) but not this bad! On days when they were supposed to call at 8 they schedule a visit, I wouldn't receive a call until 4 to tell me there was a scheduling problem. It took 8 hours to realize a scheduling mix up for that day? They also ordered the wrong supplies for me and did nothing to correct it. Do not use this service! read more

Although my nurse was fabulous this company is the worst! They lied about my co-pay and when the nurse confirmed that I was correct they sent me to a collection agency over a year later. I called to dispute it and they lied and said they investigated it and I was wrong. I've spent about 8 to 10 hours on the phone with different people and I am now forced to pay the $400 so that it does not affect my credit. They used to have a great reputation but no longer as you can see from the other reviews. I wish there were no stars as an option but since there is not they get one star. This company as a whole is a money hungry company that should not be in business!!!! If you decided to go with them for home healthcare and then cancel due to poor services they provide, they will call APS and lie about any and everything!!! The only good input was they were quick to deliver medicine and supplies. Of course they get paid by Medicare for this service My father was only given days to live when he was discharged from the hospital and we communicated this during the enrollment process. They should have understood how sick he was and planned accordingly. One planned visit per week is clearly not sufficient. Getting a nurse to come to the house to evaluate my dad when he was in a critical situation was nearly impossible. We had to demand they send someone out to assist our dad who was clearly declining rapidly. We are not familiar with the end of life process. Input such as "this is a normal part of the disease process" does not instruct us how to make him comfortable in his final hours" and greatly added to our stress as we had no idea what to do or how to help him. These people that work at this hospice were awesome and I am not sure I understand how someone can do this work. My Dad was in this facility late 2015 and they did their very best to make his last few days as comfortable for him and all of our family. These people are very unprofessional they do not return calls or emails. They have a very high turn over in the nursing staff. The care coordinators are uninformed in procedures that are within their job scope. They can be very unprofessional in their communications with patients and their families. I feel as if they are holding a grudge against me because I made several complaints and now no one can assist me. I would like to know who is over the Atlanta office so I can get a problem addressed. They are very secretive about information because they do not want your complaint heard by the people who can make the decisions . read more

I wish I had looked at the reviews before agreeing to go with this company. They are horrendous. When our nurse arrived she admitted that she had not read our file and also had zero supplies. She used our left over supplies from the hospital and from my run to cvs. Our biggest issue is with getting my mothers ostomy bag to stay attached. I have zero nursing experience and was able to get it to stay for 12 hours. The nurse with 20+ years experience was only able to get it to stick for 2 hours. When we called management to get a new nurse who worked more closely with ostomy bags the manager said "I think 2 hours is good" mind you, these bags should last 2-3 DAYS. The nurse continued to tell us that she could not order supplies until the wound specialist could come out here and the wound nurse canceled last minute and did not make any effort to reschedule. We were ultimately dropped by the company for "complaining" because they didn't have any other nurse. This company didn't even has the decency to call us and tell us. Our insurance company called us. I wouldn't trust any loved ones to this company and I would strongly suggest going with a different company. read more

The nurses were very patient, informed, pleasant and helpful as they could be. The facility itself is beautiful, calming and provides a safe haven for family. The Chaplin, library, volunteer provided lunch, tea time, and many other features provide support for my family when we needed it most. Highly recommend! read more

Whether it was at home nurses or the overnight stay nurses and doctors, my daughter's care was all that one could hope for. The kindest and most caring people I have ever met. Words cannot even begin to describe how I feel about my healthcare team provided by VNHS. Let's start with my nurse. Wendy comes to my home every Monday at 10:00 on the dot. My front door is unlocked, she comes in and makes her way to my room and we talk about any issues I had the previous week and current ones. She takes the time to actually listen to my concerns and we address them immediately. There has been two times she has had to come to my house because I was very ill and both times she stayed with me until either transport showed up to take me to the inpatient unit or the other time my symptoms were brought into check. We end every visit with a hug and a see ya next week. I love the fact that after suffering from AIDS for half my life and leukemia the last 2 1/2 years I have a healthcare professional who knows what they are doing and making my quality of life 1000% better. I didn't think I could ask for more...but then enter my Social Worker. My partner and I know that my time on Earth is RAPIDLY coming to an end. I only have a few months to go and we're dealing with that. My Social Worker has made herself available to my family and me at a moments notice. Travelling in my final months is something that is very important to my partner and I. Anna has worked and is working tirelessly to setup travel contracts with Hospice/Medical Equipment providers so that when I get to my destination I have oxygen tanks and any other equipment I will need while on the trip. This is a group of people that work together like a well oiled machine. Once again I feel lucky that I ended up with organization as my healthcare providers. These are the most unprofessional care providers. After having serious surgery, they were supposed to provide care and were approved as a provider within 1 business day of my discharge from the hospital. A week after my surgery, they were communicating to my care coordinator and my insurance company that they were providing care, but had never actually contacted me or provided any care. I believe my medical outcomes were severely negatively impacted as a result of the lack of care I received. I feel strongly that their medical license in the state of Georgia should be revoked. I want to be clear that this review if for the Kennesaw office of Visiting Nurse. Run to any other company. Visiting Nurse Health, Kennesaw office does not have the staff, not the integrity to properly care for the people who need them. We had a previous experience with the Atlanta office that was pretty good, so I thought this would be the place to go for home health care. But it seems you only get good care if you are in the right zip code. My husband needed care after a serious fall and nearly 2 months in a rehab facility. He suffered a broken arm and a head injury, and we had to move from our in town townhouse to a 55+ community in Cobb county. From the beginning, the Visiting Nurse experience was a nightmare. Phone calls would go unreturned. Services were not set up in a timely manner. They told me they had people to cover all services of his needs....Nurse, PT,OT, Speech and home health aid. They did not have all of these people. A nurse and some therapy started soon after his release. But no aid for shower and no ot or speech.. The therapist told me they did not have all of those people. I explained we needed all disciplines, or we would have to go to another company. Carolyn Robinson, who is in charge of such matters, assured me there were people to cover all. It was the first of several lies. I had to insist he have a shower the allowed 3 times a week. They actually had to bring a wonderful home health aid from Fayettville to cover, and pay her extra. Ditto the speech therapist, which took 2 additional weeks and several phone calls to Carolyn who would say, I don't know why it was not set up. The first OT therapist did not want to come so far out of town. the second OT therapist was clueless, and spoke down to the patient. Pt was good. After 2 weeks , they announced they were releasing him the following week, saying he should go to outpatient therapy. I was dumfounded. He was in no way ready to be released. He could not dress himself, go to the bathroom by himself, get around the house by himself, he got confused with directions. He had spent 7 weeks in a wheel chair, and was getting used to a walker. I ask them to reconsider. they refused. The issue is they were paying extra to the people who had to come in from other areas to cover the fact that they lied about having the proper people in the first place, so their budget was taking an extra hit. That is the real reason for releasing him. And b/c speech was so late coming on board, his release from home care impacts his ability to get outpatient care. Medicare will not pay for outpatient therapy and home therapy at the same time. So the choice was to cancel speech therapy he was getting for choking issues, or let his Pt and OT slide backwards while he completed speech therapy. This is not care, this is not compassion and this is not the responsible practice of nursing. I even placed a call to the CEO for Georgia, she did not return the call. My husband's care has suffered greatly b/c I chose Visiting Nurse, Kennesaw. read more

We began the home hospice program for my mother. The team lead nurse began vacation the second day we were on the service. Over the next week, each nurse we spoke to gave conflicting information. While we were provided with pain medication, we were given instructions on dosage and administration. Knowing my mother was in pain, I chose to have her admitted to the in patient unit. I was scolded by a nurse practitioner for not taking better care of my mother at home, saying that I wasn't medicating her per instructions. I stayed with my mother from early morning till after dinner, returning home to sleep. One evening when leaving a nurse asked why I didn't stay with her overnight. I was aware that other patients didn't have overnight company. Having had time to think about what happened, I've concluded they weren't comfortable with a single man providing care for his mother. I previously worked for a hospice program in another city in a mental health role. Based on my experience, I found the visiting nurse program to be poor quality and unprofessional. read more

No child ever wishes to select a hospice center for their mother. Unfortunately, this was the situation I recently faced. My beautiful, incredible mother was visiting me from out of town and became ill. After a month in the hospital, we were informed that it was terminal, and we were referred to an in-patient hospice. It was the most heartbreaking and agonizing time in my life. After visiting several centers, I selected Hospice Atlanta Center. It was the best decision that I made. It was more like a home than a Hospice facility. Very serene and beautiful environment. More importantly, the entire staff was incredibly professional, caring and compassionate. The volunteers at the facility welcomed us and made us feel at home. My mother was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. The staff was able to help us navigate through this very difficult journey. We will forever be grateful to the team at Hospice Atlanta Center. I don't think that the reviews or current web information does this place any justice. I highly recommend Hospice Atlanta Center. read more

The two stars are for the OT and PT service received, and it seemed those professionals had to struggle with their own organization to provide the good care they did. My problem was with substandard, untruthful, perhaps fraudulent, nursing (RN and RN-oversight) and billing level performance. It won't go uninvestigated or be brushed under the rug -- but what a population to pick upon! I'm very sick and in pain. My doctor is busy as heck trying to be of service to others like me... and here is VNHS, taking from those who have the least time, energy, and resources to give.
